Doctors need to do more to try and cure this. I feel like we’re completely ignored!
@Ninotchka14

We still can do the most ourselves. But yeah, what is false is that doctors are looking for symptoms not the cause. Which in this case is hormonal imbalance and gut imbalance, simply putted. And they usually treat it with synthetic hormones which make the whole condition worse. Also PCOS is also often not taken as serously as PCO (they are not the same thing), since the specialists usually can't find exsisting cysts, but other symptoms confirm it. PCOS often comes with general low functioning of tyroid gland, which is also sth. missed by lots of doctors...But I can't agree with Rachel more: being consisted in your change is actually the most important thing we can do to change this nasty condition.

@Adams K because asking someone to completely change is futile. Did you know that one of the changes we are supposed to make is to remove emotional stressors? Please that is BS. There is stress everywhere one can't simply remove it. What if your career is stressful? Are you suppose to drop it?

Summary + My Tips (my gf reversed her pcos): 1. See an endriconologist and get tests done (testosterone, SHBG, and AMH). 2. Find a competent functional/integrative medicine doctor and a women's health specialist who knows a lot about PCOS You'll need to go through a few doctors before you find competent ones. The most important doctor is your functional medicine doctor. They'll help you reverse your PCOS instead of simply putting you on a bunch of drugs. 3. Discuss the possibility or issue of food sensitivities with your functional medicine doctor. 4. The bulletproof diet, the ketogenic diet, or another type of low-carb diet can help you reverse your insulin resistance. The bulletproof diet includes plenty of vegetables but a lot of other ketogenic diets don't emphasize vegetable and can leave you deficient in fiber. I can attest to the bulletproof diet being the best option. 5. Supplements to consider with your functional medicine doctor: maca root powder or capsules, rhodiola, schizandra, calcium-d-glucarate, DIM, P3OM, vitamin D, myo-inisotol. 6.

If I can just leave this under this video, I had a transabdominal ultrasound two months ago and the doctor who performed it laughed at me because there was nothing wrong and my ovaries were clear. Yesterday my Ob/gyn did a transvaginal ultrasound and my ovaries were just packed with cystes. A transabdominal ultrasound does not see enough to properly show your ovaries and uterus.

I had to go to a different hospital to get properly diagnosed. For me, I was in severe pain which I was told at my hospital that I just wanted drugs. I went to another hospital outside of my city and it turned out I had abdominal abscesses as well as cysts on my ovaries. Now I have a special UTI inserted to correct my hormonal balance but still get no periods (I used to be normal years ago). I have learned the IMPORTANCE of seeking a second opinion! I was told I would have died if I just went with the first opinion (not because of the cysts but because of the abscesses).

Omg yes! I went to a new gyneco-endocrinologist and she was super skeptical (laughing too and questioning my other super qualified doctors that came up with the diagnosis of PCOS) at the beginning because my ovaries looked so normal (just one or two micro-cysts) on the trans abdominal ultrasound and my symptoms “weren’t too severe” (cause I’m skinny and because I almost forgot how painful and irregular my periods were because I’ve been on the pill for about seven years). Her expression and attitude changed instantly when she performed a transvaginal ultrasound and found that my ovaries were packed with cysts 😪. She then took the diagnosis seriously and explained everything about PCOS to me.

I'll just say I still have rage from a very young teen visit to the doctor, my mom brought me because of sudden weight gain and other symptoms that worried her. The second after I explained my issues to a male doctor, he laughed at me, told me I was lying, that I was pregnant and wouldn't admit I was a whore, dismissed me, and then told my mother in an after-talk that I was normal and it was all part of life. No testing, no referrals, nothing but a 5 min speech from me. Being a young kid, of course, I never said anything about what happened...how would I explain something like that when it was drilled into my dna that you don't back talk or disparage grownups? Ever since then, almost no doctor passes my required criteria.

My diagnosis seemed much easier than Rachel's - I just went to the doctor and told them I'd been having irregular periods. I had a blood test which showed elevated testosterone and I also had an internal ultrasound which confirmed cysts on my ovaries

This is one of the best vids I came across on how to treat PCOS. I think it really is all about discipline and consistency. I've been struggling with this condition for years and nothing's happening because I'm one of those people who wanted magic to happen. Watching your vid really hit me hard. I am treating PCOS in a terrible way. 😭 I lessen the amount of my meals but I don't do exercise. My parents always scold me for not doing it everyday. And I don't even listen. They work hard to give me supplements, I drink them but I'm not consistent. And there are other things that I realized I'm not doing right. But now that I have realized these things, now I know what to do to change my bad ways to treat PCOS. Just wanted to share this because I'm not really paying attention to myself until I came across to this vid. Thank you. 💚

I noticed when I was vegan my periods started being regular and I stopped getting the other symptoms especially losing weight . I have yet to still confirm that I have it but my mother had it when she was younger so there’s a great possibility. From everything I’ve studied & read what I’ve gathered is that women with pcos have to have a nice clean balanced diet (no fried foods, sugars even fruits, no dairy & meats daily) SLEEP (I used to sleep deprived a lot & it’s REALLY bad, pcos already suffer fatigue so poor sleep will make everything 10x worst), Workout everyday even if it’s low impact(reduces stress hormones which what pcos causes & ofc promotes weight loss which is key), know the right supplements to balance hormones & get regularly tested for deficiency in vitamins (adaptogens are very lovely for stress control)! I notice when I eat really bad and don’t workout all these symptoms come back & extreme but when I’m eating healthy & active they’re mild to completely gone ! Ladies we got this 🤍

you are so inspirational. I've been on low carb for a month now and that is after not getting my period for a good 5 months (I have irregular periods like you, 4-5 a year, but 5 months was the longest down time I've had). I haven't been to the doctors for a diagnosis but my symptoms for PCOS is blinding. I honestly don't think I can afford going to so many different doctors just to varify something I know I have. I got my period about 3 weeks into low carb and I feel alive overall. I used to be tired ALL the time even after adequate sleep. it was so frustrating because I couldn't work out or do anything without feeling overwhelming stress and fatigue. I'll eventually see a doctor but I'm hoping to find one who'll listen to me on my first try. I have crippling anxiety and things like this just trigger it too easily. I figured I'll start doing what I can and I'm liking the changes so far. you're a big motivator for me and I really, really want to thank you. also, I love the way you say insulin.

Do anyone still doubt natural herbs? I've seen the great importance of natural herbs and the wonderful work they have done in people's lives. I wonder why people still spend their money on surgery, injections and drugs each time they are sick. Natural herbs can cure all kinds of illness including herpes, diabetics, asthma, Cancer, hepatitis, etc. I've seen it with my own eyes. It's encouraging to know that a regular cycle can be had again. Since 2009 I have been struggling with this. Did not know until about 5 or so years later that it was possibly PCOS officially diagnosed 2017. Thank you for sharing your story. In practice, about half of the women I see have PCOS and many of them were told they have PCOS from an ultrasound alone - which isn't enough to diganose it. It always never ceases to amaze me how often doctors aren't running full and complete labs. One of the biggest areas I'll also evaluate is the gut because it's where virtually all of our hormones are produced, inhibited and secreted. So how are we not investigating that as a staple?

When you refer to avoiding sugar, does that also mean avoiding fruits? Or just added sugars like cookies and candy and ice cream etc? Because I too am a LOVER of sweet things but now with this I have gone to a low sugar diet where I cut out alllll added sugars and just try to eat fruit twice daily with 1/2 a cup of 1% fat Greek yogurt. I was just wondering if you cut out everything with sugar even fruits or just added sugars!

@@nidiaangeles2003 i didn’t cut on fruits with has natural sugar i just cut down Refined sugar. i have read articles online that u could replace it with more natural sweeteners like honey ,jaggery etc but some articles also read that its best to avoid them too. but i do use jaggery and honey as substitute of sugar. its hard initially to quit sugar but later you’ll get used to it. also make sure u lightly workout as well that’s important too. i have seen that the symptoms like acne and irregular periods come back whenever i am not active and my routine is not proper (due to lockdown) . so now i have started working out again and focusing on my diet and boom everything goes to normal. so the goal is to be consistent in doing that. my current goal is to stick to it for a year or two.

I'm really glad your PCOS videos are around, you lead me to take my symptoms seriously and see a doctor. I'm glad I did because it turns out I was rightfully worried and my ovaries are speckled with waaay more follicles than normal, and my uterus also had some lesions which were likely caused by aggressive periods, which is apparently, another symptom that is indicative of PCOS. I just wanted to echo something you said in the vid, about having to see multiple doctors. GIRLS, DON'T RELY ON ONE GENERAL PRACTITIONER. See a specialist, because most GPs only have a basic understanding of PCOS, and I, like Rachel, had to see a bunch of different doctors to get a complete set of tests and an ultrasound. PCOS is super complex and different for everyone - it's a syndrome, not a disease - but you can get it under control. Rachel, thanks for this series, it prompted me to get medical insight into my weird symptoms, and also to buckle down on exercise and low-carb. This stuff does work. My most noticeable changes were with my skin, weight, and MOOD. I feel so much better, much less cranky and "hormonal" since doing strict low-carb. I'm going to get bloodwork, an ultrasound, and insulin res. tests done again soon so that I can observe any changes there, too. Thanks again Rachel.

I never really had a problem with my period up until a few months ago. It was regular, not much pain, normal amount of bleeding. Then, all of a sudden, it didn't come for 3 months. Then I got it and now it's late again. It could be because I started working out more but I did the same while I still had my period.

@@eliava2098 That's the thing, I didn't change anything during that time period. It's still irregular, though it's gotten a little better (I often get it every 2 months now). Of course I was stressed, as any student with social anxiety and depression is but due to my therapist, doing meditations and working out, my stress levels actually decreased. From what I'm guessing, my hormone levels are off and my overies don't send out an egg every month now. I'm guessing that because usually, I feel a little pain during that time and about two weeks or one week before my actual period, I'm often in so much pain in that area that I cannot move and am considering going to the hospital. So I'm guessing I need to look into balancing my hormones.

@@strawberryfox8819 i see, i can see that it must be quite distressing as well when you feel something is off. I can totally understand because i have a similar experience like you. My periods were always regular through my teens, once i entered my twenties they got all irregular and doctors didn't really get it. They said things got maybe a little off with my hormones and i was really hormone sensitive to those changes. I talked to a gynaecologist who said that i could have a different form of PCOS, the one in which your body produces a lot of cortisol (stress hormone) chronically and that can cause issues with insulin and other hormones over time. He didn't diagnose me with 'typical' PCOS because my periods were normal before. I would recommend you to get your blood tested for different hormones and try to have a regular lifestyle with exercise, eating healthy and reduced stress. Talk to your GP/gynaecologist about it, maybe they can give some advice as well. I hope i could help you a bit and if you want i can give you my email and we can share any further experiences but that is totally up to you. Wish you all the best!

Thank you for sharing this. I always had long cycles since I started my period at 12. I went on birth control at 15 and was on it for years. When I went off BC to try and conceive, I was having 75 day cycles and my drs just shrugged it off like “it takes a while for your cycle to get normal”. I was checked for cysts (all clear), got pregnant, miscarried, then went on clomid to regulate and amp up my ovulation, and I got pregnant after 3 or 4 cycles. When my son was born I was exclusively breastfeeding, and when he was 3 or 4 days old (we were home from the hospital at this point) he was crying constantly and we didn’t know why. We called the lactation nurse and she said to give him formula to give me a break and for me to try pumping to keep supply up. It turns out I wasn’t making milk (maybe 1/2 an ounce after pumping for 40 minutes). It took about 9 days for my milk to come in. My son was starving and could have died if that nurse hadn’t suggested formula. I was heartbroken and thought there was something wrong with me that I couldn’t breastfeed (I ended up pumping for a year and had more than enough supply eventually). When my daughter was born two years later, I told the nurses at the hospital that it takes a while for my milk to come in so we would supplement with formula and breastfeed. One nurse asked if I had PCOS. That was the first time a medical professional had ever said those words to me. I had researched between my pregnancies and suspected I had PCOS, I adjusted my diet and was able to get pregnant quickly with 29-30 day cycles on my own, but my dr had never diagnosed me. I think it’s awful that some drs are so quick to just shrug off symptoms and prescribe quick fixes instead of addressing the problem. What upsets me the most is that I could have lost my son because he wasn’t getting any milk in his first few days of life. My symptoms are long menstrual cycles, severe cramps, skin tags, weight gain (specifically belly fat), and it takes my milk about 9-10 days to come in, all of these are very common PCOS symptoms. Had I been diagnosed before getting pregnant with my son, I could have regulated my cycles better and known what to expect with breastfeeding. And maybe I would been spared some heartache as well. It took two years to conceive my son, then I had an emergency c section, and couldn’t breastfeed. I felt like a complete failure in the most “natural” aspects of motherhood (getting pregnant, delivering and then feeding a baby) and at least two of those things could have been addressed had I known that I have PCOS.

It seems like a lot of people still think all fats are bad and try to avoid them at all costs, even though they are necessary for the body to function properly. Also maybe, since you are a nutritionist, a video about popular vitamin supplements (which ones are actually useful and in which form, which ones are we probably not missing in our diets etc). Great video Rachel! I'm currently 2 1/2 months into Keto to reset my hormone imbalance and repair my gut. I've got all sorts of AI issues.... Hashimotos and Alopecia being the main ones, plus Endometriosis. I've had that internal ultrasound to see if I have PCOS but I have a 'normal' amount of cysts apparently.. so I'm definitely aware of my health!!! I started with a gluten sensitivity then moved to dairy aswell, and my normal 'lowish' carb/clean/paleo diet wasn't working (I was eating whatever I wanted on the weekends) It sounds funny, but I feel like I have a friend that knows exactly what I'm going through, and I'm using bits and pieces of what you do (recipes, workout structures) and making it work for me (I'm not one of those who copy you hoping to get the same results, I'm just tweaking what works for me already) and it's even better your in Melbourne now, just an hour away from me! I think I'm blabbing on a bit LOL.. anyway I thought I'd just say I appreciate these type of videos so much, all your videos actually, sometimes I feel like I'm going around in circles, but when you post these videos it's like I've got that friend saying ''just keep working on your health, you're doing well'', it just reiterates that I'm on the right path!

I’m Susan Ray from USA... I am the most blessed person on earth right now because i am free from fibroids...i am here to give my testimony about Dr OMO who helped me cure my fibroid, i want to inform the public how i was cured from (FIBROID) by Dr OMO Herbal Home, i visited different hospital but they gave me list of drugs which is very expensive to treat the symptoms and they never cured me. Three months ago a friend suggested that I should try herbal medicine from a very powerful herbal doctor called Dr OMO, I looked up his blog on the internet site and indeed he had immense success with his product. There were lot of persons posting their testimony about how he cured them. when i contacted him he gave me hope and send a Herbal medicine for me to take and how to take it... i took the herbal medicine for just 11 days and i noticed a huge change in my body system and i continued the medications for another 1 week and after that, Dr OMO asked me to go and do a text from the lab to see if i still have the sickness and to my greatest surprise my FIBROID is gone..my FIBROID result just came out negative. My doctor was shocked how i got cured. I am so happy as i am sharing this testimony. My advice to you all who thinks that there is no cure for FIBROID that is Not true...Remember health is wealth...you can contact him on him Email at dromo596@gmail.com and WhatsApp on +2349033505260... He can as well cure 1.PCOD/PCOS 2.BLOCKED FALLOPIAN TUBES 3.HERPES 4.IRREGULAR PERIODS 5. MENSTRUAL CRAMPS or CAN'T CONCEIVE etc...

These are so helpful! I'm 16 and was recently diagnosed with PCOS and I was unsure why I was gaining so much weight from not eating much of anything horrible etc. I started taking metformin and birth control (progestin only bc my body makes too much testosterone and estrogen) and I lost 9 lbs in 2 months 😂 that k you for the helpful tips!!

This is great. It's so important to remember that you have to be consistent and not go all extreme. Implement one thing at a time, then more on to the next. Next week, eat a serving of green vegetable 3 times a week.

Excellent! So nice to watch a video where I don't fall sleep before the real information comes through. Relevant, quick, to the point, information. M family members suffer with PCOS and the doctors here refuse to take it seriously. Impossible to get a doctor to take a hormone test. Also, one doctor stated that they would not treat the PCOS if there was less that 6 cysts evident on the ultrasound. My family member had 5 that was revealed. So no treatment. Clearly, natural treatment is our only option. Thank you Rachel. Also, your link to how to become a channel sponsor is not clear. When I click on it, Its just goes to your playlist. Anyway thanks and have a great day VK

Hi Vicki Kenefsky, so glad the video was helpful! Natural treatment may be the best way for your family member to reduce symptoms of PCOS. That's strange that the channel sponsor link does not work for you, try clicking through here - kzbin.info/door/vIaf-RCk5mQiH8rI0rODlgsponsor :)

Omg your story is exactly like mine!!! I have gained weight but I don't look fat and even eating low carbs cause of my "celiac" i don't look my weight. I just got diagnosed this year and I'm 31 because as soon as would loose a little bit of weight (2-3lbs) I would get my period so heavy and painful that I ended up in the hospital. I'm hoping I can get the help like you did!

I was diagnosed with pcos 2 years back but I got on and off meds and didn’t really take it seriously and that’s why I started gain weight a lot and got into depression. It’s been a week I’ve started my meds again and a clean diet too. This video is really helpful and motivating to me ❤️❤️ thank you and I’m glad I found you today. I wanted to give up today because I am not losing weight

Ladies out here....I have PCOS ever since I got my first period. I have been been suffering for almost 19 years. I got PCOS at a time when my BMI was normal, I ate healthy vegetarian food, had good physical activity(athlete and dancer) and limited junk food(1-2 times/month). Even after all these years of trying hard, my symptoms don't seem to settle. Be it contraceptive pills, ayurvedic/homeopathic treatment or even functional meds. I have tried everything(low carbs, zero sugar). I had even cut out dairy , gluten as well as heavy lentils on the advise of my functional med practisioner. All these have created nothing but more confusion and self hatred. I maintain my weight through good food, no sugar, 7-8 hrs sleep and exercise. A single day of exercise skipped means my periods would be skipped for god knows how many days. I still suffer facial hair(terminal ones), irregular periods, acne and its dreadful scars and offcourse the mood swings. I get up each day praying I get better🙏 and have cured PCOS

It really breaks your soul and confidence. I understand you cos I have it too. My hormones got out of balance due to high levels of stress in my teens. We had a very tough life, just somehow trying to survive. And they still aren't very well balanced. Like everyone else I was prescribed birth control pills which I stopped in 3 months. I was doing everything possible and I am so exhausted now. Just living with it. Planning to go on a low carb diet which helps with insulin resistance. Too much of blood tests on a regular basis and everything here in India is really not in my budget. I bless you and your health. Take good care of yourself.

I got married to my lovely husband for the past 9years without conceiving and fibroid was the issue, i took different prescribed medication but could not cure it but my husband was so confident in me and kept encouraging me that one day someone would call me mother, we did not rest searching for solution from different Doctors all they could say was surgery and i was afraid of that then a friend in my office introduced me to Dr Marcus who sent his product to me which i took and it really worked perfectly, and my Doc. confirmed me pregnant after 2 weeks of taken his product.
