That military jacket actually has a Grenadier Guard symbol. My husband used to be apart of them in Montreal and I noticed it so I called him over to confirm. This is from the French Army "Arme du Matériel". It's a "losange de bras" worn by officers. It is not surprising to find this here since Chateauroux was a former Army Equipment Specialization School created in 1976 on the Martinerie site (Indre), with 300 hectares of land, including 100 hectares for maneuver; This base was an important troop corps of the French Army with up to 4000 soldiers. Disbanded in 1998. I did have it more than forty years ago...

About the apples I would recommend getting some root stock and grafting all these delicious types of apples to create new trees. It's best to replace and expand the orchards now before the trees are too old. Then by the time the old trees die the new will be big enough to get a decent harvest.

Most of the thrift shops in the USA have junk merchandise. It was different when I lived in Los Angeles. There were stores that had marvelous clothes that had been donated from Saks and other high end stores directly to thrift re-sale stores. France 🇫🇷 would have wonderful shops with very high quality and a tradition of quality.

@@sharol946 Me too. She's such a perfect foil for Dame Stephanie. They're so different from each other, so they both allow the other to see a perspective perhaps never glimpsed before. Seeing Kat whirling around the château in a medieval dress was priceless. I dare say that she never would have experienced that same feeling or moment without Stephanie. I think she has the same effect on Dan. He just can't bring himself to admit it out loud. How ironic is it that watching Stephanie's attention to all the details makes one want to slow down and savor the little things and precious moments. I love her for that gift she's given us all.
