(DISCLAIMER: PPM is a biocide, so it can harm anything biological - including you and the environment. Although it may help reduce contamination, use with caution. Always dispose of expired chemicals correctly at a hazardous waste drop off and never pour them down the drain, as these chemicals can pose a major threat to our water systems and aquatic organisms.)

Very enjoyable 😍to watch you even if I can't follow along! You'd be a good choice for a mission to mars to spearhead terraforming!

I use PPM frequently! Just have to be careful of how you dispose of it since it’s a biocide

I did my first transfer a few days ago and now I have white mold growing in 5 out of 8 of my containers. I'm using deli containers and I'm wondering if there's just too much moisture from closing the lids when the media was hot? I guess spores would have had to get in there too? I'm going to attempt to clean it and try again! I have cats so I feel your pet contamination pain.

When the plant is infected with mold after 4-5 days, can you remove the plant and re-boil the medium and reuse it?

I made my first batch of Media and did my first transfer a few days ago. Before the transfer everything seemed fine (I waited 1 week to look for contamination). After the transfer (around the explants) it’s now a little whiteish cloudy in the media. I’m not sure if this is contamination or just a little bleach that found it’s way in there. Can someone give me some insight please.

А какой процент натрия хлорида вы используете для стерилизации экспланта первом введении в культуру ? И сколько минут?

This indeed is a slime mold, but slime molds aren't pathogens. They aren't even molds i.e. real fungi. A lot of species live in wood and other damp soils in nature. They have pretty interesting life cycles, but in no life cycles they infect or "jump" on humans.

I don't believe this is a slime mold. It's almost certainly serratia marcescens.

Why can’t some one invent a better way of tc? Like placing some chemical that can make the tissue grow without placing them in flasks. Jus terrariums.

There's a chance it could be worth it to sell cultures of slime mold. The stuff is able to solve mazes and recreate the Tokyo subway system, so it's got it's own cool factor.

Do you sing while doing your cultures? If so then your mouth germs are getting in there.

How can something that came from the environment around you be dangerous for that same environment? Don't be such a drama queen.

She's right. Dangerous pathogens have competition in nature, whereas they don't when they contaminate sterile media and can grow to potentially lethal concentrations you would almost never experience in the natural environment. This is well known in mycology and the same applies here too.
