HOW TO CONDITION AFRO CURLY HAIR & CLUMPING ISSUES

Are you team deep condition, 5 minute rinse out conditioner or diy? What's your priority when it comes to condition your hair? Do you mind proteins? I like all sorts of conditioners from commercial to diy, but my main issue is the lack of clumping I see with many formulations. Let me show you how I condition my hair and what steps I take to enhance these tiny micro curls that many also like to describe as "4c hair".

Yeah I also deal with lack of clumping post conditioning. I would love to figure out why that is since I think my hair clumps rather well (except in some areas lol). I'm excited to see some of your DIY gel stuff. I'm not a DIY girl myself so I will live through you haha

Thank you! ❤️ I’m sure many of us are having these doubts but don’t know where to start and to pinpoint what it really is. Having other curl types in the family definitely helps to realise that one formulation can weirdly work so different. Until recent years, I’m sure many brands didn’t realise this hair isn’t just an afro but actually micro spiral curls & zigzag waves. I used to think I’m the issue, maybe me applying the products wrong, maybe buildup, even henna. But it’s just the characteristics of this cottony tight curl type. Because of its helix structure it needs a large amount of product to cover the entire surface of the coils with ingredients that make the hair strands stay clumped together after the wash. I’ll talk more about this after the styling videos. 🥰

@@RabielleParfait Well said! The discovery of how type 4 hair clumps together instead of just a halo is a relatively recent development and I hope more people are tinkering with products for this niche space too. I look forward to your next video!

I have afro textured hair: 4A if you use the curl chart. My hair clumps with conditioner and clumps even more when I use a comb to distribute the conditioner through my hair. Once I wash out the conditioner, I use a cream styler with medium hold to freeze the curls in place for my wash and go. I love the definition and volume the cream styler provides. My wash and gos last up to 10 days. I agree with you that you just need to find the conditioner that works for your hair.

In Deutschland findet man es leider nicht, vllt bald irgendwann, aber dann wird es bestimmt auch ganz schön teuer sein. UFD kannst du am besten in Online (Curl) Shops in UK, Frankreich oder Niederlande bestellen. Bei Curlsshop.nl ist es gerade ausverkauft in der mittleren Größe für über 41€. Die große kostest über 82€ 😕. Amourhairbeauty.nl hat die große Variante deutlich günstiger. Megorgeous.nl hat es auch. Lecurlshop.com (Frankreich) ist da recht günstiger in der mittleren Größe. Bei Lockenkopf.ch (Schweiz) ist es gerade ausverkauft & günstiger.

UFD Curly Magic Gel ist ein wunderbares Gel. Einige (USA) berichten aber über allergische Reaktionen. Bis jetzt aber nicht eindeutig nachgewiesen, ob es auch wirklich darauf zurückzuführen ist. Ich hatte keine Probleme. Je nachdem wie klein deine Locken sind und wie starken sie sich kräuseln und zusammen ziehen, braucht man teilweise ein zweites Gel, welches mehr Halt bringt. Das Gel funktioniert am besten, wenn deine Haare frisch gewaschen und nass sind. Dann teilst du die Haare in kleinen Abschnitten auf und arbeitest das Gel Strähne für Strähne. Bei meinem nächsten Video zeige ich wie ich meine Haare meistens definiere, zwar mit nem anderen Gel. Aber die Anwendung ist recht ähnlich. Falls du in einer Region lebst, wo es oft regnet oder die Luftfeuchtigkeit sehr hoch ist, macht ein zweites Gel auch mehr Sinn und dann nimmst du weniger UFD. Da sehr viele Feuchthaltemittel (Humectants) drin sind und das Gegenteil bewirken, nämlich Feuchtigkeit aus den Haaren ziehen und an die Luft abgeben. ❤️

Yes, usually once a week. 🥰 But if I wash several times a week in summertime, I don’t repeat the clay masks more than twice a week.
