When doing the crumb coat your cake was slight tilted. Should you fix the tilt before refrigerating overnight?
@JamesZ32100
@JamesZ32100 3 жыл бұрын
I think it'd be better to adjust it before refrigerating, or else it'll stick and you'll have a hard time to adjust after it becomes firm

So, what recipe is she using for buttercream that allows it to spread that easily? Mine is always firmer (and takes a ton of cake with it) or else it slides off!

Maybe add some more butter/milk/water (or slightly melt your butter before incorporating it with he icing sugar)

what should i do if my cakes split in half before i stack them. I tried making a cake today and each layer snapped in half so then i tried to frost them back together and then it just starts leaning one way. i just cannot decorate cakes to save my life

Maybe refrigerate them for a little longer? Or maybe they are too dry? Idk I have the same problem lol.
@angelicarodriguez4488
@angelicarodriguez4488 3 жыл бұрын
I think cakes splitting probably has to do with not prepping the pan correctly and not letting the cake cool in the pan long enough. Something I think I heard from Preppy Kitchen's John K

Don't try to glue them together, you would probably just make it worse, just stack them as normal, with two matching halves on each layer, won't be noticeable when you cut it

Let the cakes cool completely for few hours before layering them. Another tip is to pop the cake in the fridge for fifteen minutes to let the layer set and then put the next layer. This usually happens if you have started icing quickly without letting the crumb settle down or the icing is very soft due to weather or the cake too moist
