Good Video! Decided to raise passenger front side. Do not remove debris guard. You will see and access coolant drain plug from inside engine compartment, open hood, use flashlight, for the white colored "nut" as indicated video. 19mm socket, 3 inch extension and ratchet wrench will reach and loosen plastic nut. With car jacked up on passenger side, gravity causes most of the old coolant to drain directly down from drain plug. Flat oil recycle plastic tub will catch all liquid.

Funny my 2014 had 7 screws and three clips in the cover. Someone had been there before and didn't put all the fasteners back in. This is why I do my own work whenever possible. Oh a note of caution for anyone trying this. You will see a larger plug facing downward that takes a 14mm allen key. That plug is in the AC condenser. If you remove it you will release AC refrigerant and pag oil, not something you want to do.

hey guys, I have a quick question.. Total capacity of antifreeze is stated to be like 12 qts (3 gals). Looks like you only got about 1 gal out from the 'drain' process. That means you have 2/3's of old (of possibly bad) antifreeze left in the vehicle. Shouldn't you re-drain and re-fill again another time or 2 to get have 'more' new antifreeze than old?? I DO understand the if this 'drain & refill' is done per recommended maintenance schedule, then the 'drain & refill' may be fine.. But I have a 2011 Edge with about 74K miles that I'm not sure if the prior owner performed this drain & refill. SO i may have to perform this 2 or 3 times just to get the majority of the old antifreeze out. Good video though, I will be removing that initial debris guard to gain better access to the plastic drain nut ;).

Hello! I have a 2008 Ford Edge Limited and wanted to do a coolant flush but am getting mixed answers on what coolant I need to replace with. Can I use a universal coolant? I was looking at the Gold Peak Original Equipment Technology Antifreeze + Coolant for North American Vehicles. Would that be ok to use? If not can you give me a suggestion for a replacement for my vehicle? The coolant cap says that I should use a yellow coolant so I just don’t want to mess anything up. Thank you!!

No donot use a universal. Motorcraft came up with a new antifreeze for ford vehicles its like light greenish yellowish coolant color.

@@godovermoney1124 no. Factory old coolant is orange.‎VC-13DL-G this coolant item replaces that old orange coolant. OAT is the orange color old coolant as to the new yellowish green is POAT.

It really depends on how long the coolant has been in your vehicle if it's been in there for over a year I recommend Flushing but if it's just ranlo adding more coolant is okay

@@traytonking3041 okay so there pump on all 3.5 and 3.7 Ford engines have an internal chain driver waterpump. Basically if the waterpumo gasket fails then the coolant is dumped into the oil pan and the oil pump will pump the mixed oil and coolant throughout the whole engine and ruin your engine. So in theory changing coolant frequently helps keep the gaskets from becoming brittle. Old coolant becomes acidic and acidic eats away gaskets..also fresh coolant has great lubricate properties and keep bearings within pump from seizing. Also on the oil side on these engines it very important to run a quality 5w20 full synthetic oil to help lubricate the chain sprocket and seals that are on the oil side of waterpump. Trust what I am saying. These 3.5 and 3.7 have 2 weep holes that leak coolant out of the engine. One of them leaks above the alternator area and the other leaks above the engine by the V of the engine and can be seen from above with a flashlight. Usually if you catch the failing waterpump ahead of time you can replace the waterpump before it dumps coolant into your engine. 2007-2010 ford edges had an old style pup with 1 seal and 1 sprocket and the 2011-2014 had a improved waterpump design with dual layered gasket ad dual sprockets but still are prone to fail if coolant is not changed often and oil isn't taken care of.

@UNKNOWN for those researching, do an oil analysis at every oil change, collect a sample and send it in. There are several well known analysis companies such as Blackstone. They can tell if there are traces of coolant in your oil very early, much earlier than anywhere you could look or detect it yourself. Your water pump won't just fail overnight. It starts with a trivial leak that slowly becomes worse over time until it has leaked enough coolant into your oil to cause internal damage. If you change your oil often and do the analysis every change you can catch it before it becomes catastrophic. It won't ease the $2k bill of the water pump/timing chain swap but it will save you the cost of a new engine! Good luck!

Ok well I assume your just showing us how to replace coolant because this is not the way you would do a coolant system flush which would require coolant flush and distilled water and then refilling with antifreeze it make more sense to show us how to do a flush because why replace the coolant without flushing out the system.
