@itzchakparizat75312 жыл бұрын
Wiring is really easy. You don't NEED the trim tool but it helps and makes it faster. Just push the wire into the rubbery part that runs along the edge of the doors (the top). I was able to use my fingers to push it in and then used the trim tool to run along the edge and speed up the proccess.

I performed this install yesterday and now I'm worried since I did not use a multitester but simply followed the included Rove manual. Everything works fine.... But what is the concern with using a circuit in the ABS fuse if the included fuse link is proper? The manual simply said test with the included tester for any functioning circuit
@dial2fast Жыл бұрын
Most of the time, the car will fine, but in the rare chance the dashcam (or the add on accessory) draws more current than what the circuit is rated for, that might cause a problem with the original circuit (ex ABS). Keep in mind there is a reason the fuse box has different fuse amp rating for each circuit. The engineers that designed it will use the proper gauge wire (the wire behind the fuse box), and fuse rating according to what the circuit requires. By adding an additional device on that circuit, you are increasing the load on that circuit.

Quick question. I installed a 2 channel rear view mirror cam in my 2018 pathfinder s. I did not use a multimeter and just followed what you did in your 2016. I connected the accessory lead to the 20 Amp and the constant to the 10 Amp as you did...I think? 😆 both using the double fuse taps. Now, intermittently my oem reverse camera, while in reverse of course, will go blank and all I will see is the check your surroundings message displayed on the bottom. Did I do it wrong? Also, I'll add that I installed led h11 low beam bulbs the same day by sealight led. Could they be the culprit?
@jasondelprete24923 жыл бұрын
Also, the dash cam is the azdome pg02s. The hard wire kit is the 3 wire from viofo.
@dial2fast3 жыл бұрын
@@jasondelprete2492 I really doubt the fuse tap is causing the issue. All you are doing is tapping power, and not interrupting the video feed from the backup camera. For troubleshooting, you can disconnect the 2 fuse taps, put the original fuse back in and test it for couple weeks and see if you still have the issue.

If you are taking the dashcam out when you park, then you are not using parking mode function, so you don't need to install the hardwire kit. Just use the cirgarette lighter power plug for power. But if you really want to go that route, which you can and it won't effect anything on the fuse box.

As mentioned in the video, using car battery to power parking mode will drain your car battery. That's why you need to have a cutoff circuit to prevent it from draining all the way down. When you drive your car, the alternator will charge the battery.

Purchased the ROVE R2-4K camera and the hardwire kit at the same time. Ran the wires from the mirror through the A pillar down to the fuse box. Checked to make sure that the red is constant hot with the enclosed tester, good battery voltage with the key in the off position. Turned the key on and connected the yellow wire to the now hot circuit. With the car running, got 13.8 volts on both red and yellow wires. Black it a very clean ground. Plugged the camera in and started car. Hit the power button and it came on for a few seconds and went right back off. It keeps on showing a low battery voltage warning and cuts right back off. I can not find any setting to make it stay on. Now here is the kicker - if I connect the same camera to a power cord that is run from a USB port to the back of the camera with the supplied cable with the camera, everything works great. I checked battery voltage on the hardwire kit by touching the actual female side of the bullet connector which is on the outbound side of the wiring from the fuse box heading to the actual input wire to the camera just before the small box that is inline on the hardwire kit. Already called Rove customer support and got an answering machine and left a message with my phone number with no response yet. Sent them an email - they did respond with a link to this video. Nothing in this video addresses the issue I am having. I know you just make KZbin video clips and do not work for Rove. Maybe they will get wind that they have a unhappy customer and try to help solve my issue.

Rove advertise this as compatible with other dashcams, but keep in mind it only has a Mini-USB connector so your dashcam will also need to have the same power plug. The other thing is you have to make sure your other brand of dashcams do support parking mode recording function. There are many ways parking mode feature are designed to work depending on the manufacturer. So you may need to do some research and troubleshooting if your setup doesn't work properly.
