I reduced my blood pressure to normal levels by eliminating sugar and eating a low carb diet (getting them basically from plants no processed foods, just whole foods) as well as taking fish oil and vitamin D supplements and reducing my eating window to 6 hour in a day. It only took about a couple of weeks to achieve what I could not do with medication and years of what I thought was a healthy diet but was not. And necause I reduced my carb intake, I don't feel hunger and cravings that that would push for over-eating or breaking a diet, it is now easy to wait for 18 hours without eating.

I am working on eating from 12 - 5 Pm only. Also cut sweets. I try hard to cut carbs like bread and rice and potato and spaghetti. I saw results in 1 week, I measure in morning and at night. My figures are going from 160 - 108 to 120 - 90 range. I did keto few years ago and it was the only time I lost weight and my blood pressure was 110 / 70. I will keep the intermittent fasting and no sweets as much as I can. I felt week to work out because my heart rate was higher, My anxiety kicked in, but after seeing results I am getting energized to continue.

Friend I got to tell you that we should be consuming sea salt, the course one, which contains magnesium and other minerals also. This is vital because magnesium and potassium reduce pressure while sodium increases it. Using refined salt causes epidemic of hypertension. Stress also causes hypertension, but conversely hypertension also causes a person to get angry.

Hi Adam...what a great video ! I have just been diagnosed with hypertension. I am a cyclist... Last year I had 2 extremely high stress events, so 5 months ago i started riding a bit more , about 28-36 hrs per week. for the past 5 months...2 months ago I started feeling ( every 2 days or so ) a slight dizzy / vertigo feeling. More unbalanced than dizzy. I then did a race 2 weeks ago in 40 degrees C, and ended up in medics with heat exhaustion, dehydration and very dizzy. I was ill for the week after with a stomach virus ( locally going around)...took 1 week off the bike, then next ride i stopped half way as the dizzy/wobbly feeling was intense, first time it happened while on the bike so I stopped and got a ride home. 2 days later I ended up in Hospital with a physician with BP 160/105. Ive been on 4mg of perindopril for 5 days now and still experience the vertigo feeling, BP is coming down as i monitor it 4 times per day. How would you suggest i go forward from here with exercise/cycling ? I havent been able to walk far yet so hoping it will take another week, fingers crossed !! Thanks Adam

I am doing this and seeing results everyday. eat foods with potassium. there are many things to do other than drinking juice you do not like. I hate it too... lol. Stress, I think mine is stress induced. I wake up good number then I get up and it starts to rise. my brain playing games on me. but I will get this under control.

I have found eating during a restricted time period per day -- no more than 6 hours -- extremely effective. Also cut carbs and focus on good fats (not seed oils too processed) and protein. I am 84 and have lost about 17% of my body weight over the last 4 years and now have BMI below 25. Occasionally do a fast of at least 24 hours. Be sure to drink water. There is a reason every religious tradition in the world believes in the benefits of fasting.

It actually enhances your nutrient! It makes some medications stronger! Instead of not taking the grapefruit stop medications and start eating grapefruit! Now they say you should start walking by talking to your doctor and your doctor is going to poo poo everything that you said! I would rather believe the research that the grapefruit works better than the medication! That works for me!

Was on BP meds for 15 years which helped control it but every 3 years doctor added additional pill because my body adjusted to the meds over time. Made dietary adjustments and exercised regularly which helped but eventually same issue. A friend suggested plant based diet and only eating for an eight to ten hour window each day. Wow, started that about two years ago and have eliminated all 3 meds and average BP 110/70. Lost 40 lbs in the process and feel 20 years younger. Plant based is the key but the daily fasting allows your system to reset and not have to work overtime processing your food. Many other benefits from this change in the way I eat now. 66 year old male and before changes BP averaged 140/90 with 3 meds. Try it for 30 days, it's working quite well for me.

In addition to that, I have reduced my food intake, do not eat refined starches, eating leafy greens. I also take potassium citrate- 5 ml/day which also contains magnesium and vitamins B6. I take Omega 3 fish oil tablets and vitamin K2- MK7. I have lost about 6 kgs (13lb) 86 kg prior surgery and now 80 kg. Still the BP remains high. Any suggestions please?

There's some science out that says that embracing stress is more important than reducing stress. This is out of Stanford by psychologist, Kelly McGonigal. She just wrote a book on it called, "The Upside of Stress". I've not read it but did read some of the studies behind it - intriguing.

Embracing stressful situations has been a straight forward way of dealing with stress since ages. It means looking at the stressor eyeball to eyeball, analysing it's strength, weakness, opportunities and threats and being level headed about your analysis. Best way is to assume the stressor is worrying someone else and you are to advise the person. You will not be emotional or go into self-denial which is counter productive. Reducing stress is all about doing things that work for you or finding ways to work smarter and not harder. Andmost importantly having a positive mental attitude, this comes from being aware of how precious you are to God our Creator! Thanks

Thank you for the great and interesting advice. Personally, I adhere to the adage that the dose makes the poison. That said, eating most foods, and in fact everything within reason, can be beneficial overall. At the same time, overeating certain things may not be as beneficial as it may seem. I certainly won't miss a small glass of dry wine after dinner and a quiet walk with the dog in the woods. I am open to any constructive criticism from experts, as I am not one. I'm just trying to follow common sense. Thanks for your great videos and have a great day.

There is a naturopath who recommends 1 kernal of Celtic salt before your glass of water. It contains 82 minerals, and 3 types of Magnesiums which holds on water so it's a good thing that helps fluids. So what is your take on this doc? I drink 2-3 quarts of water a day from my neurologist after my stroke (covid caused) and my sodium dropped way below normal. So should I use a kernal of Celtic salt (size like flax seed) with every 8 oz glass with my 2 quarts of water.

I would like to start eating beets cooked in a jar or beet juice so i can eventually get off of my BP med ( Metropolol). I need to get beet juice without salt and i cannot have lemon juice as a preservative either because i have GERD and the lemon juice would give me alot of acid.Thank you for sharing.

I have HBP and gerd too. Did you have any issues taking the Metropolol and has it stabilized your BP well? I haven't taken any meds yet but my doctors are suggesting it's time. I'm been anxious about it cause I've never needed anything all my life except for nexium but I got off that over a year ago...

There are not many veg that I like, but I fry spinach and other veg together with a low-carb sauce to give it a better flavour.

Regarding if you "Eat food that comes in a box, you'll end up in a box." True for the most part, but there are exceptions. Ezekiel cereal comes in a box. I buy organic black beans with no other ingredients that come in a little yellow box. I also buy organic beets with no other ingredients that come in a red/white box.

arent you mixing up salt intake with sodium intake? The recommendation is as you say 2,3g of Sodium. But, salt is not Sodium, it is sodium chloryd (NaCl), and one gram of salt is 0,4g of Sodium. So in fact, the recommendation is that you can eat up to 6 grams of salt, or 2,3g of of Sodium a day.

I started bicycling nearly 3-years ago and made improvements in my diet. Since then, both my blood pressure and cholesterol increased to the point of needing meds to control them. My doctors can't find a reason other than genetics and are somewhat baffled. In addition, I frequently find myself feeling worse after riding for some time. It's both frustrating and depressing. I came across some literature concerning exercise intolerance. Wonder if I deal with this?

Possible. You started exercising and changed your diet and you got UNHEALTHY. That's not the norm.

@AdamJStoryDC As I noted, it's extremely frustrating. I also notice that taking short breaks, a day or two off, don't help me feel better. I may take a couple of weeks off and see if there's any improvement.
