She's our granny, our neighbor that we have to listen to as our mother and the one that have permission to discipline us with total support from our parents. I love her, thanks for the memories.

Now I want to cry. I miss my granny so much. Big old forty something year old woman welling up because she misses her granny you know! lol! My granny used to call me girl, I stopped being a girl at 35 when she died. I miss her, I miss roti, I miss pepperpot, I miss cassava bread , cook up rice, pone, ginger beer, bread and those coconut cookies she made but mostly I miss sitting and watching TV with her and talking about old times. Love your grandparents and family, they are so precious and you don't know til dem really gone fi good. xx

As an indocaribbean chef I have to say your nani did an excellent job teaching oil roti (Paratha), a.k.a buss-up-shot, in fact she was quite modern in her language and speak. makes me miss not cooking with either of my grandmothers, they were gone by the time i started cooking at 9. but I do love your granny, she was gem.

Thank you for such a beautiful and informative video. God take care of Aunty Evadney, may she rest in eternal peace. I live in Nottingham, and I had a very dear friend Mrs Pat Ivy Robertson who was originally from Guyana. She was such a kind and genuine woman, and she used to make these flaky soft roti. She had a black cast iron Tawa that got very hot! I loved her Curried chicken, Prawn and Cabbage, and Metagee with homemade Casareep sauce. God take of our friends and family who have gone before us. Gone but never ever forgotten. Shaun, Nottingham, UK

awww Thank you Evadney and may you rest or party in paradise! I really enjoyed watching and listening to you! Back in 1980 my boyfriends Guyanese Mother invited me to help with "clapping the hot roti". We laughed so much as my hands burned! Me, a white Canadian girl! whoa how it burned! lol.... I loved to watch her working in the kitchen. She passed away at the young age of 49 in 1982. Wish you could have seen her Son and me marry... help make our wedding meal and been a grandmother to our two boys. We are still together and I am started again to make clapped roti. I successfully made it a few years ago and his family enjoyed it. I made it a few days ago on New Years Eve and it was ok, Hubby thinks it was perfect. The memory is... and now she holds our boy. Our eldest Son, Lance and I bet they are cooking up a storm up there! with my Canadian Mom! Thank you for posting, this video has made my heart smile.

@@bubujooestes1499 awww, thank you... and now our furry friend, dog, Charlie just left us 2 weeks ago. They say "it is better to have loved and lost to not have loved at all" Here is my fb post: After a brief illness our beautiful, loving Charlie left us on March 25, 2019 to be with our Lance. This will be another difficult path to walk, again... but, we are ever so grateful for Jay Ram's (my hubby) dream on Saturday night. Jay dreamed that Lance Ram came and wanted to take Charlie for a walk. Lance was there to take him. This dream, vision comforts and confirms Lance is always there.... all our loved ones are always here for us. Always around us, guiding us, always loving us and supporting us. Thank you Charlie for coming into our lives and choosing us to be your kin. It was on a sunny morning of Nov. 10, 2007 while going for a walk, we came upon a lost dog at our cousins house down the street. They had already phoned animal control to pick you up. Instead Daddy named you Charles after Grandpa Dixon and we brought you home. We decided on Charlie, just until your family could find you. Little did we know at the time that you had already found your forever family with us. As the story goes it was the last day for you to be adopted from a shelter in Michigan and if it wasn't for "Give a Dog a second chance rescue" from Oshawa your young life at just a year and a half would have ended that evening. Your Spirit has truly touched ours in so many beautiful and memorable ways. We will never forget your love and loyalty. An Angel sent you to us and our Angel brought you home. We love you Charlie, always and forever, Shadow and family, xoxo

Hi I now came across your video on KZbin and learn granny passed away, my deepest condolences to you. I'm Guyanese East Indian, your granny did a great job teaching you, you're lucky to have her teaching you. I wish mine was alive to teach me. As Granny told you some ppl add margarine inside oil, sometimes I do that too. I'm a master of cooking roti all thanks to mom, well I used to sit and watch her make ever since I'm small so when it was time to teach, I've already mastered the basics lol Hunny, I just want to let u know if you can't clapped the roti with your hands, put the cooked roti in a mug cover it and shake it. You can also use a kitchen towel put it in and clap so your hands wouldn't get burn with the oil. You can also put it in a large bowl and shake vigorously. Have a great day!!!
