Man is always in search of ways to live a long and healthy life. Despite this, longevity, health, and well-being rarely coexist. A group of people living in Okinawa in Japan have become role models for being happy and healthy even after crossing hundred years. Two writers, Hector Garcia and Francesc Miralles spent time with them to learn about their practices. Based on their findings, they wrote a book called 'Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life'. ‘Iki' in Japanese means 'life,' and 'gai' describes value or worth. Ikigai is what motivates you to get up in the morning and gives you joy. It is based on the principles of traditional Japanese medicine's approach to health and wellness. According to this approach, one's mental and emotional wellbeing affects one's physical health. In this motivational video, Dr. Mary Matilda outlines eight key aspects that will help us to live a healthy and happy life even as we age. The practices are very simple and the earlier we implement them, the better.
