Worked perfect. Cleaned a little corrosion off the pads and back in action. Thank you.
@ArbyFyrelyte2 жыл бұрын
My contacts were indeed dirty. It was quite amazing how obvious how unacceptably corroded these were. My printer is about 6-ish years old. I cleaned them, and upon putting it back together, it slams the print-head to the left with a plastic'y bang, then back to the right with a bang, and then gives me the same error again. I'm damned sure I did it right, but, good video. Hell to HP.
@charlievoissem4632 жыл бұрын
Mine did this too - you need you make sure the clear tape/ribbon is BEHIND the read sensor as you replace the printhead. That is, between the backside of the black sensor and the green electronic board
@ArbyFyrelyte2 жыл бұрын
@@charlievoissem463 . Damn, so it's not a matter of plugging things in, there's an optical sensor I need to be sure not to obstruct? I'll need a picture to really understand what you mean, now that I've put it away in the garage. At any rate, I'm going to get a printer that doesn't require an internet connection to print or scan on Windows 10, doesn't have mandatory software updates, and has linux drivers. This printer was so much nicer under Windows 7
@pXnEmerica Жыл бұрын
@@ArbyFyrelyte Just to follow up for the next guy. On the back of the print head board you just cleaned is a black (probably) sensor that this ribbon needs to feed through. It's fairly obvious once you know what to look for and the slot in the sensor.

@bradb9404 Жыл бұрын
Good video but this did not solve my problem. Replacing printer. For those who have printer head slamming, as others have said, make sure the thin plastic strip passes through the sensor on back of printer head circuit board (sensor looks like a small black box with a slot in it). Also, you will need T9 and T6 tools for this procedure.

They call it HPP, but one does not realize the meaning until one has to replace the printer head and throw it anyway (with newly purchased cartridge set). HPP indeed !!!

Same just happened to me. First it was yellow ink, then all of a sudden the red, then low and behold the blue was out, all that without printing a page. Then the printer head error message. $75 for new ink for nothing.
@TrailCodger2 жыл бұрын
I managed okay, but three issues with this video. First, when you took the top off, the print head was to the right, then in the next scene it's in the middle. How did it get there? Secondly, when you lift the circuit board off the print head there is a hex screw behind the board that a screw anchors in. I didn't realize this until I saw it laying on the table. I figured it out. Draw attention to it. Thirdly, when you put the print head back in you do not mention exactly where that slider guide should be in the print head. You fiddled with it with your finger, but it wasn't clear what you did. When I started everything back up it said the carriage wouldn't move. I had to open it up and figure out where that slider guide should be. After all this I am still getting missing "print head message." It looked like my square gold contacts were kind of shot in several places. Black circles on them that wouldn't come off. I assume it's just missing a gold surface there. By the way, if the springs contact those surfaces on the circuit board, what is the other end of them contacting? Maybe that's where my problem is. I did learn a lot about printers though and taking them apart. It's 10 years old, so I got good use out of it.

I guess if you just replaced all the inkjet cartridges and you get a failed printer head error message, you can feel motivated to replace it to save your ink cartridge investment. But, I never try to repair my printers. I always replace them when they are failing. They are so cheap. The newer ones are easier to configure for wireless printing than the one's that were shipping new five or seven years ago.
