It’s so easy in the world that we live in where everyone sees quotes on Instagram, motivational sayings everywhere, to think you’re deep...without being deep.
So today we’re going to do some unlearning with our wordsmith of a guest - Humble the Poet.
We talk about becoming conscious of and taking ownership over your unconscious biases, unlearning old habits and ideas that may no longer serve you, and how to not only survive but thrive.
Hi, it’s Jay! I'd love to keep in touch. Add me on Messenger and you'll be the first to know about my latest podcast episodes, free courses, and BIG announcements every week! Click here: m.me/JayShettyIW?ref=youtube

Thank you so much. I felt offended when you said that we use excuses and self pity to comfort our selves as I was crying over a test I failed. Also the other day I came across a video about how nothing lasts forever even our moments of glory and I skipped it because I refused to think that I'm going to be sad anytime soon . Early twenties are a roller coaster ❤

This was a great conversation. I always feel unburdened after you talk, it’s the way you unpack topics. There’s something to it, equally natural and systematic. I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on and conversations with people like Jordan Peterson, Russel Brand and Christina P (of ‘that’s deep bro’ podcast fame)

*Self-pity is lack of self love.* We wouldn't be here if it wasn't meant to be. Cut off all distractions and learn to love yourself. - Meditate to calm your mind - Spend time on your own without distractions, especially digital ones - Eat healthy and exercise Give yourself time, rebuilding a healthy relationship towards the self take time

Mindprovement, I think Self-Pity takes you to places, WHEN you are taught that it’s Self-Pity that you are going through. Self-Pitiers do not know that they are, unless someone tells them!

Man i LOVE these on purpose podcasts Jay's having man. He's definetely going ham AF this year. He's totally revolutionizing the way we see daily problems and he's making very important wisdom and acts of love so digestable to the mainstream at an alarming rate -which is very rare! So happy to see this! You're doing god's work, literally. Keep it up!

*Self-Pity is never going to push you to go further.* It’s the forgiveness, mindfulness, and consistency that will make your goals achievable. Realize when you’re doing the actions that are unpleasant, forgive yourself, and stop immediately. Consistency keeps this loop running.

I needed to hear that! Thank you so much, Humble and Jay! What a great chat that really got me thinking clearly on so many important subjects that are floating in my life right now. Specifically, hearing that you (Humble) put your book out and it was a best seller in Canada, and it still had spelling mistakes, and that it's more important to put things out there and finish them, and take that chance, than it is to make it perfect. Jen Sincero, in her book, You're A Badass, said done is better than perfect. And this was kind of the final push I needed b/c I just put my first book out, and I'm selling it on Amazon for 6.99, a reasonable enough price and my mom thinks it's too low. Where as me, I thought I'd just throw this book up on my blog for free cuz it was more likely to be read by more people. But deep down, it was really because I hadn't had it professionally edited, so I figured it wasn't worth the money. Mean while I spent almost two years working on this concept and then the year of actual writing, not to mention to countless hours I put into the editing and formating process, right. So it was liek this back and forth moment of, it's worth the money, it ain't worth a dime. So, shit I wrote so much lol THANK YOU! I really needed to hear that. -E
