INFJ-T here. Spent most of my life, assuming that I had some sort of major mental disorder. It has actually ruined me because the stress of being this way has left me physically disabled. This isn't an easy way to be. At the same time, I feel like other people are essentially morons, ha.
@galespressos
@galespressos Жыл бұрын
@Laura F.E. Yes, the stress can cause real physical issues. Hoping you are feeling better and realise difference are okay, and actually so needed. It’s too bad people don’t get that about each other. Thankfully because of my mom, when I was younger, I didn’t assume I was wrong or had a disorder. Thanks to my mother for being an u usual person in terms of accepting a wide range of difference in people and being generally, trying to respect unique traits and find value in all beings. So I never felt, until adulthood that something was wrong. People want others to be a certain way, and devalue others who don’t fit the mold. It’s sad, because we loose each other’s value that way. For me it seems to influence negativity the autonomic nervous system and maybe was a trigger for auto immune issues.

@@KeylynLM , I have a friend who is an asperger, I like to say it that way because I do not see it as a syndrome or a spectrum, my friend is a genius, he is by far one of the smartest people I know. Really smart people are often misunderstood. Often seen as weird. It is only because normal childish things do not appeal to them. If they were lucky enough to have parents who get it they can thrive like no other. My friend was lucky, his mom put him in a school where he had contact with teachers who understood the needs of a really smart child. Most people don't take the time to listen, maybe because they are just not that smart. Edit, case in point take Elon Musk, I would venture a guess he is an aspberger.

I can relate a lot. It's so frustrating. I've only met 2 INFJ women, no males. Both were too young for me. People are usually either are too weak emotionally or too stupid logically. They lack depth is a key thing. I'm gained indepth knowledge in several subject areas. My mind never stops. I was lost for years, just drifting. INFJ understanding is powerful and helpful. For most of my life, I have had dreams which would come true the next day. I've been able to see ghosts since I was a child. My teen years were hard with shadow figures and negative entities always attaching to me and even physically disrupting things around me. I have had a *strong* connection to UFOs for my whole life, with them showing up wherever I went, and following me as I went for walks. I would always just "know" where to look, and they would be there. I can also telepathically ask them to come, and they do. I feel a deep love both for and from them. My body used to interfere with electronics a lot. When I walked under streetlights, they would turn off. If I walked into a room with a radio or TV, the volume would change itself, sometimes going crazy. I have always believed I could move things with my mind, and sometimes objects would just fall off things when I was near, especially if I was feeling frustrated. Things falling off tables when I didn't touch them, etc. I have also had some experiences with astral projection/OBEs and lucid dreaming, though I want to be able to fully control and explore these realms at will.

I have started telling people after keeping it secret for many years. Actually went to a Shaman for advice about how to act on a vivid dream I had that took me across the continent to find out a friend was in the hospital. This freind was an work connection that I had not seen or spoken with for at least 10 years. The Shaman, of course said, "DUHHHH" with a laugh and I said OH! I need to call him!! Shaman's response, "DUHHHH" as he laughed and nodded. A week had already passed and when I called my friend had just been released from the hospital where he had spent a couple weeks.

As an INFP, I've learned that we must allow that freedom for authenticity ourselves. People may not understand it, but that doesn't mean we should stop being ourselves or our nature down. Instead, we can be an example for the world.

I solved that issue regarding grace when I finally came to truly understand and embrace the immensity of love and life (no death!) that Jesus Christ offers us. Everything else pales in comparison to our Great God. He understands what we are going through. And I cannot wait to spend eternity with Him, as was presaged in a Rapture dream I had during the year of the 1986 Chernobyl Nuclear Power plant incident, prior to being a sold out Christian, 27 years later. What is grace other than a God man gives his life for his friends?

Holy moly this resonated, and you'll never believe where I do my best thinking. I'm building a coaching business, working on creative solutions to client problems. So, I drive a school bus in the mornings. I'm up super early, get to see the sunrise over the mountains, pick kids up who are half asleep, enjoy my awesome coffee, and just get lost in my own thoughts. I'm a good driver in general, so that part just goes into autopilot. I come up with the coolest ideas for what I'm going to do that day, or next steps, or just other stuff. I get into such a cool place mentally, something I struggle with just sitting in front of a computer. At 9:00AM I'm done for the day, go home, and just do my work. I love it!

Thank you so much for this I am an INFJ and I deduced I’m Neurodivergent and that I have indeed always seen life and thought very differently to most. I am very intuitive and my interests are esoteric/metaphysical and I just don’t see life the way the mainstream do. I really appreciate this video as it helps me understand why I have paid for all these courses that I’ll probably never use to try and make me more organised and “normal” (like that was going to happen!!!) I have worked out that my strengths are in the more “spiritual” realms and awareness of other beings and realms which I am more familiar with. I have always just known things. It confused me as a child why so many people lie, their energy says one thing and their words another!!!!

The Box. At 65 I feel like I've spent so much of my life conforming and squeezing myself into the box that I've lost so much of who I am. It no longer feels easy to be in touch with the person I once was before I spent my life changing myself to conform and fit the box. So sad. Some of the changes I've made in myself have been positive in ways in my life too tho. I just feel that I wash I could not only get back in touch with that core person again, but learn how to still embrace the positive changes and those I'd still like to make, but not push my core self down while implementing change.

The part on conscious creativity truly resonated with me. I’m an INFP diagnosed with autism over two years ago. I have this inherent… ick (I hate that word, actually) when it comes to people referring to creativity in an non-artistic light. It just kind of pisses me off inside, because I know that’s the only creativity the corporate, neurotypical, capitalistic (whatever adjective you’d use) world cares about. And that exact world is the one I actively don’t feel like you belong in. The one that, intentionally or subconsciously, pushes me to not be myself and thereby actively harm myself in a way. In 2023 I transitioned from high school to uni. Transitions are tough in general, but I quickly came to realise university wasn’t for me. But I wanted to give it a proper chance, even though my gut feeling was scolding me for that. I ended up genuinely hating it there. I chose political science because it was a far, far distillation of some of my _actual_ interests. But I was scared of outwardly leading with my genuine interests. Still am, to some degree. I’m still masking a lot. I couldn’t connect to anyone at uni. The workload was high and the way working and learning was done there actively went against me. And holy moly smokes did I _hate_ one subject in particular with a burning passion. It’s called academic skills, when translated to English. And yeah, there I truly realised the strict, suffocating step by step methods of research and such did not suit me one bit. And this one class, the teacher was talking about ‘writing’. Writing is my biggest (special) interest. Despite other very strong interests, writing stands and has stood the tallest since basically forever. The ‘living in fantasy worlds’ has stuck by me and matured alongside me. Though, I’d say most of my interests are interconnected in some ways. That teacher talked about academic writing… and in my mind, to use the same exact word to refer to such a pile of stinking cr@p as I would to refer to my biggest passion in life… Wow, did something kind of snap internally that day. Why is one of the genuinely worst things I’ve subjected myself to a homonym of the thing I love the most? It’s also just odd to not know what to do in life whilst knowing what I want to do in life. I know creativity (writing in particular, but music as well) is my thing. I know what I want with it. The issue lies in how to outwardly express that truest part of me. And how to make compromises with my authentic, artistic self and this world that isn’t built for me. I think a lot of people my age (recently turned 19) struggle with what they want. I honestly have known since forever. The rough outline of it, at least. I just don’t know what road to take to get there. I’ll have to carve out my own path. And I know I need to make more concrete steps where I’ll either get positive or negative feedback (I’ll need to [em]brace [for] both). I think most of that sweet, sweet self knowledge I need to collect lies outside of my head.

This was such a helpful video. As a psychologist I work with a lot of neurodivergent individuals (e.g. autism, ADHD, dyslexia) and strongly resonated with all their experiences, but didn't meet full criteria for any of these diagnoses - yet another area of society where I didn't quite fit in! Lol.. But I have recently come to realise that maybe I resonate because INFJ traits overlap with many traits of these neurotypes, and we are also divergent from what is typical as we only comprise 1-2% of the population, so most aspects of society are not tailored to meet our needs (just like other neurodivergent peeps). But this was just an idea I had, and I couldn't find anything online about it (or colleagues even thinking much about it). This was a super validating explanation - I think I needed someone external to give me permission to take my neurodivergence seriously.

As a fellow INFP, I understand where you're coming from - but it's needed for advocacy purposes. Compare it to slogans like "Black lives matter" - even though you could argue that all lives matter, which is true, focussing on black lives matter helps focus on that part of inequality. Neurodivergence is the same - by using the term we can stimulate more inclusion and equal opportunities.

Thank you so much. I'm an INFJ so I rarely even leave youtube comments 🙈 but thank you so much for this video. I'm in my late 20's and struggling a bit in life from not realizing these things about myself. And hearing you lay it so directly in a 10 min video has brought me both to tears and to the desire to use this understanding for positive change in my life. Keep doing you sis!

I gave you a like because it’s not easy to feel you are different, how you see the world, life, and how you feel, etc. In my experience I never felt alienated, since I was a little girl I was very independent and I never felt. In my experience and perspective empaths never felt alone. I am highly spiritual and once I understood my cognitive function, how my works , I’m a highly sensitive person and I have to learn how to manage, I work hard in my self in order to understand everything of who I am. I don’t like to be fit in a box and I don’t fit a person in a box. I don’t care if I am rare, I am very happy and proud of who I am. Neurodivergent is gift, having a complex cognitive function is a gift, being a highly sensitive is a gift, being an empath is a gift. Is blessing. Having a complex cognitive function or your brain works different or you think different doesn’t means you have to be a victim of your cognitive functions, being a victim of being a highly sensitive person or being a victim of circumstances or situations, that’s a decision. When you understand how your brain works, you joined all the peace’s of the puzzle of who you are, you are able to upgrade. How an INFJ have problems with focus, if we are good joined the dots, joining the peace’s of a puzzle, how an infj have problems with clear feelings and clear knowing, intuition? How an infj doesn’t know how to discipline their mind? When you have deep understanding of the electromagnetic field it’s because you have a deep understanding of cognitive functions, your sensitivity, all your senses are clear. When you absorbed information you know how to organize the information, it requires discipline, understanding, focus. You have to know yourself.

I am an INFJ...I've given the mbti test to literally scores of people and only one other male infj I've come across! I truly believe that male INFJ's are rare, literally. I also work in a Psychologist's practice as a Nutritionist and so am face to face with ADHD and Autism. I have noticed something: being INFJ can account for much of what is diagnosed as adhd and Autism (not for a second am I suggesting they don't exist!)...I do wonder, am I on the spectrum (as many think I am) or am I just...an INFJ male?

I’m an INFJ and recently realized I have ADHD. Not formally diagnosed, but it’s insanely consistent with my behavior. I have been thinking about the connection between these two for the past week nonstop, and wondering the same exact thing. Also, very interesting that you work as a nutritionist at aIa psychological practice. I have bachelors degrees in psychology and neuroscience and have been considering going into nutrition as a form of therapy for mental health.

After years of being a creative person, i completed a degree a couple of years ago in audio for film, tv and games. It drained me to the point I never wanted to get back being creative again, im not sure if it was Uni itself that sucked all the joy from it from me. Halfway through the course I found by interacting with more people my interest in psychology and counselling was brewing more, im just about to further this in higher Ed. In my degree, even though i also won awards for my work, Ive always had a problem of not taking myself seriously enough to be a professional, its like being stuck between wanting success or keeping lowkey. I do wonder if my nuerodiversity plays a part in all this as a want to stay away from stress, while at the same time i love to learn. I hope i dont self-sabotage my counselling course or get bored, i really dont want my learning difficulties get in the way because it stresses me out even more. Its a cycle

As a writing coach, could you offer the service of matching INFJ writers with writing partners that can compliment their strengths and fill in the gaps on their weaknesses. Seem like that would be an invaluable service. I can see I have these gaps, but I don't have a clue how to fill them. And I've dreamed of having a writing partner who 'gets me' and also knows how to work with me towards a vision. P.S. I have a novel that 95% done and I know the story is great. I know it has great potential but there's something missing and I have a blind spot that's keeping me from seeing it. I feel it, but I can't get a handle on it. The story has a lot of cool, creative elements and it deserves to get out there, but I'm just at a loss as to how to put the muscles and the bones together with strong connective tissue to bring it to life. I bet a lot of INFJs feel this way.

My 15 year old kid was diagnosed with autism recently. I've been watching/reading information about autism this week to find out everything that I can about autism. They took the personality test two years ago and received the INFP result. I score as an INFJ. I'm not sure if it's a case of "finding the answer you want to find" or if there is something to this. It was funny to wake up with this thought and search for it, either way.

I've never slept my mind is always going at night I end up sleeping anywhere from 2-5 am and wanting to sleep all day and I've never been able to change it, of course I internalise that I'm the problem as I don't' fit society, I was born premature, shipped off to a hospital hours away and left in a crib under lights without human contact i wondered if that's why i don't sleep well, or is it autism which is why I'm so sensitive to touch, smell and so on.

How is it that, in a general sense, INFJs can be thought of as neurodiverse? Isn't neurodiversity a clinical assessment? I know we're "different", but does it rise to the level of "neurodiverse"? I ask because my stepson is on the spectrum. He is clearly neurodiverse. I'm just an INFJ. I realize I'm rare as a personality, which qualifies me as "different", but.....neurodiverse?

It doesn't necessarily HAVE to be the case, but as someone who's only just realized that I'm autistic and have ADHD, at 41, I finally understand everything about myself, and I think it's very probable that many many INFJs share these traits. In my new understanding of myself, autism and ADHD are the 2 opposing sides that make up the INFJ paradox. They hide each other in a way and are therefore less noticable on the outside,and inside, than either trait by itswlf would be.

I have written...my entire life. Often strange dark poetic things. This video.. Exactly. I've always explained the way i write as from the beginning its amazed even me how the function and moment occurs. And no one has ever been yeah i get that. They just give me this strange look like um.. okay them. It's like this.. i can sit here and attempt to think of something to write for hours.. days.. months.. and nothing. For the poetic core to actually occur. Its simple. I take my paper/notebook whatever and i place my pen onto it. And shift. Go to my most inner world. Disconnect.. Disassociate. Now.. i turn everything within myself and my mind OFF. 📴 Empty. Dark. Cold. There is not a single thought. Nothing. Enter the void.. and within this void something happens a transition state and like a Ouija Board my hand will move itself.. it will start writing.. i have absolutely no awareness of what its doing. At all. Then at some point bam.. snap back to reality. And i look down and this two page eternally dark af poetic anomaly has appeared and i at this time couldnt tell you one word that was on the page.. as, i havent read it yet. 😮 And then i read it.. and im amazed at this thing that has been born from something deep within me.. often its beautiful and always on the darker sides of truth and pain and any and all other senses and emotions. I can vividly remember everything about the room.. the classroom and all within it and the feeling of utter alienistic strangeness that consumed me in this moment that i first realized this is the my creative works.. this is how i create. This is how i find out what this darkness inside is? I can literally make it speak. 😮 And this skill was practiced until mastered. //_¢

Tbh I’m against any label though sometimes you’ve gotta name it for having a better framework of understanding, therefore I loosely sticht this label of INFP-A on my persona. Actually I wanted to say on “myself” but as some of you know clearly understand , there isn’t anything to attach on to our true selves. Who am I? , well that question became like a mantra for me, being a fulltime explorer of life without clinching to an ultimate outcome or answer. I guess that’s my fuel to keep on going. But there is a downside, and I have to skip many things because this ain’t the platform to write an autobiography. So long story made short. During my early childhood and youth, I already was aware of the fact that I was a bit different, different in a way of feeling alienated, odd , weird or an outcast. Because my perceptions and behavior weren’t “accepted” . I mean that’s how it felt, but every time I told people why if felt this way they just make it worse by telling me that “I saw an see things not the way they are” . Anyway among other kids this wasn’t a real problem, the problems started around puberty, but now I’m heading towards 40’s it’s really becoming a problem. In the movie above there is mentioned : You’re not the problem, and yes that’s true, but I become a problem for others because I simply can’t and will not comfort to their standards. Eventually that will lead to other “problems” or challenges in my feelings. I mean and maybe this sounds familiar to hear, Things like ; grow up, behave yourself, you can’t say this or that, this is a serious business are been throwing at you while working or on social activities, well that hurts. It’s literally feels like you’ve no right to be there. Therefore, thanks for providing all these interesting movies and sharing your insights with others. This is very valuable for likeminded people and it helps to make bridges / connections . For all of you, you’re not alone , I’ll end my gibberish with an awesome quote of Timothy Leary, -// Admit it. You aren’t like them. You’re not even close. You may occasionally dress yourself up as one of them, watch the same mindless television shows as they do, maybe even eat the same fast food sometimes. But it seems that the more you try to fit in, the more you feel like an outsider, watching the “normal people” as they go about their automatic existences. For every time you say club passwords like “Have a nice day” and “Weather’s awful today, eh?”, you yearn inside to say forbidden things like “Tell me something that makes you cry” or “What do you think deja vu is for?”. Face it, you even want to talk to that girl in the elevator. But what if that girl in the elevator (and the balding man who walks past your cubicle at work) are thinking the same thing? Who knows what you might learn from taking a chance on conversation with a stranger? Everyone carries a piece of the puzzle. Nobody comes into your life by mere coincidence. Trust your instincts. Do the unexpected. Find the others… Timothy Leary
