I am so happy seeing your video like this, something that has to do with canon m50 which i can really use, awesome!

Thanks for your great discussion, as always ! I am from an era where the VHS was the norm, and when DVD came out with 720P, it was a revolution. So I have stopped to this point about the real "needed quality" ahah, no need bluerays, no need 4K, no need high resolutions (excepted for technical engineering maybe), just need GREAT IMAGES :)

Great topic :D Today I value dynamic range more than resolution, but when I first started out I had no idea of how limited a camera was compared to a smartphone. Having to learn to expose for what's important and realise that sometimes you will have to blow out the highlights or crush your shadows is something you learn along the way I think. But I do get why some are discouraged by the 720p from the m50. With modern smartphones outperforming the m50 in both resolution and framerate + tv-screens and streaming services offering 4k it's easy to lose track of how much resolution is enough.

I never used the 720p 120 on my canon M50 in fear of bad quality but you kind of proved the difference isn't all that great. I'll try incorporating it into my videos and see how it goes. Thanks!

Yes, and I'd love to know Job's thoughts on lights that travel well - I'll be filming interviews and it would be handy to have a minimal small setup that would just lighten faces and for background and fill.

Excellent video, Job, and very helpful. You mentioned the harshness of digital images. I've learned about the Tiffen ProMist Black and Black Satin filters that many videographers and filmmakers use to soften the effect without losing sharpness. I've ordered the Black Satin because I really like the sample clips on KZbin. Perhaps others would like to look into those?

Thank you! Cody has some filters. I think he has a black satin.

We just got to latch onto the YT Algo now so people watch them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ha ha

Tests like this makes NO sense at all. The outcome will depends on the monitor’s resolution and size. Watching on a phone is ok and the difference is not much because you are going down on screen size. Watching in a 4k the 720p is horrific. If you can shoot in 1080p or higher , always do that. Never shoot in 24fps cause there is no 24Hz displays. Avoid 24fps at all cost and lower resolutions today.
@TheCrowleyCrew4 жыл бұрын
That makes sense about resolution. As for 24p, that is the frame rate I like and plan to stick with it.
