I think there's some truth to this, though I think a certain style is prevalent across current wrestling period, not just AEW. As it relates to this show specifically I dont think Christian vs Garcia felt like Kingston vs Danielson, and I don't think Danielson/Kingston felt ANYTHING like Ospreay/Takeshita. You're right on the near falls that border on excessive. It's fine for some matches but it shouldn't be the case for most of the show.

What about the people who WANT to like AEW, who give it a watch week after week only to shut it off due to lack of interesting angles, professional work, or cohesion? You can't ignore the fact that all those years ago there were far less options of things to watch. Today we have thousands of cable channels, unlimited amounts of KZbin content, and tons of streaming services. This has to have some effect on todays ratings, and its not just the difference in the wrestling product.

Just look at how divided people's attentions are between their sources of entertainment these days, whether they be streaming services, messaging apps, video games, television shows, or music. The number of those sources has grown exponentially in the last 50 years, and their accessibility has likewise increased to the point where you can watch what you want where you want with a device that fits in your pocket. Don't be moronic. These technological and cultural developments are far too significant to simply be written off as having had "no effect". You spending your time typing out a message to someone who's probably nowhere near you is an effect. These developments affect everything; wrestling included. The business didn't and doesn't exist in a bubble.

If the wrestling prodcut sucks people tune out. WWE was unwatchable from 2016 to 2022. But since the product improved there are more ratings and attendance to live events. AEW isnthe forst few years was new and fresh . Plus the action was decent but the shine wore off and the stupid stuff appeared more often.

Danielson's wrestling was already getting boring when he was in the WWE. Once you had seen one of his matches, you had basically seen all of them. The same kind of things just kept coming back over and over. The locks, followed by the kicks, followed by the rope jumps. I'm not saying he's bad. He's very good at it. But he gets stuck in the exact same choreography too fast too often. If that his fault or his opponents I will leave in the middle.

It's shocking how many people are defending them cutting the feed on Sting's retirement speech, they all seem to be parroting the same "but it's on youtube for free" while completely ignoring the fact that people PAID to see this and got cut off. They had a 90 minute pre show with 2 matches and could've easily put one of the lesser matches onto it too, which would've gave them the time for the speech at the end.

Sting is my favorite wrestler of all time, and I was tempted to order the PPV just for his last match. However, I am glad I didn't after I saw the glass spot and everything else. Talk about trying to outsmart yourself. Instead of having a regular tag team match, they decide to have "special" match with no rules and just spots which tell no story?! Typical AEW. I would have had a brain aneurism sitting through this PPV. Tony Khan's booking is worse than Vince Russo's booking in WCW and that is saying a lot.

Actually UNDERTAKER said when he thought he broke Hogan's neck he was a goner. Because he knew Hogan at the time was the Golden Goose. And the way UNDERTAKER tells it was it was Hogan went up to Taker and said I have a sore neck. And UNDERTAKER assured him that he would be safe. And all day that day Hogan would point to his neck reminded him. And when he went for the move he said all I heard was you got me brother. And naturally he was concerned. He went to the back to check on Hogan without breaking character. He heard Hogan screaming and telling someone to get his family on the phone. And the way he talked like Taker injured him on purpose. Everyone else including Shane said Hogan's head didn't even hit. Then he saw it himself and his head didn't touch. So now he could confront and Hogan risk his job. Because it was different back then. Taker was new. But he finally confronted HOGAN. Hogan changed his story. He said Taker had him too tight. He was worried about not being tight enough. Taker said right then he saw what kind of person Hulk Hogan was. And he always had his radar up around Hogan. He could of got even when HULK HOGAN Came back to WWE. Undertaker was now the man. And Hogan lied to Vince and went to WCW. I guarantee if Taker didn't want Hogan back Vince would hear him. But I enjoy Judgment Day 2002 where he finally got his revenge.
