I’m so sorry for the fallen servicemen that were drafted into the war.. not only in Vietnam, but also Cambodia, Laos, etc. every serviceman is so valuable .. and their lives should be of utmost priority to the US. What was worse was the lack of support the troops received upon returning home. Words cannot express the level of appreciation I have for the courage our servicemen displayed. Thank you both for your conversations… I never want to risk the lives of the military for policies that were recommended by inaccurate information provided by intel that did not service the armed forces with the information needed to accurately assess the risks those troops would encounter. Every American life is so important.. and I’m so sorry it escalated to the extent that it did. I never want to forget those fallen to sacrifice their lives to this country’s ideals - only to see the constitution be altered less than 100 years later. Thank you for this tough conversation … gratitude.

Right or wrong. The country is the most important thing. In the end I hope changes are made to prevent this from happening again and let there be a lesson from it. God bless this country and support and always give thanks and show respect to your veterans. We owe it to them

A big bias today is that when you agree with specific thing a particular person said, people assume this must mean you endorse that person wholeheartedly. Which obviously doesn't need to be the case. As it turns out, reality is complicated and multifaceted. Why close yourself off to learning something from someone because they made mistakes, did some bad things, etc.?

They may even have a broader perspective. The more you do, the more you learn and also the more mistakes you make. Once heard it put, "if your messing up it means your doing something".

As a comment on the ttimeframe for long haul strategic social change, it is useful to remember that it took seven generations to uplift 50% of England's poor into middle class citizens during the industrial revolution. The entrepreneurs had the wherewithal to accomplish this much quicker, and had strong Government support. What held the people back was the people themselves. Social change is daunting for exactly the reasons you have described.

You're 100% accurate, Jocko. You are a very close-minded individual. It is only your gift of choosing the people who can benefit you the most, then aligning their capabilities with YOUR desires, that has led to your success. "Disciplined Manipulation Equals Financial Success" should be the title of your next book.

57:23 - We shouldn’t want governmental leadership “loyal to the Presidency, and to him” (the President). Rather, we should want folks loyal to the Constitution of the United States, and its separation of powers, including the CONGRESSIONAL powers of war-making specified within our Constitution. Unitary executive theory, where we have seen U.S. Presidents become more and more unilaterally powerful has been one of the worst perversions of the Constitution in recent decades.

Mundane boring comment but please put a high pass filter into Jocko’s mic audio path. Put on some great headphones and listen. You’ll hear plosive pops throughout. It’s distracting plus it’s using bandwidth taking away from fidelity without adding anything.

I highly recommend watching the 2003 documentary, influenced by his 11 lessons, titled The Fog of War: Eleven Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara. It's an interesting well-made documentary, even if you don't agree with everything he says (I don't). It covers his life, including stories about WW2 and Ford. Here is a segment where he talks about the firebombing of Japan during WW2 (something a lot of people don't know about): kzbin.info/www/bejne/noCmipadhNOKi68

Iraq 2.0 was kind of a cakewalk too, it was the staying there and having soldiers be policemen part that got the coalition into trouble. I am sure jocko can attest to that.. Same with afghanistan. But i get the intent , smelled it about ten mins in. I also smell that there must be some serious russian money floating around somewhere down the line in the right wing grifter sphere. Just fyi.

Alleged by who, what are the allegations, and what is the evidence? Don't bring up Deming and GB chronicles...it was a rhetorical question. At any rate, glad you took the time to provide his podcast a view just to post that? So actually Jocko is not an alleged war criminal even according to Deming. Who also, did not realize that a marine who reported to the XO he posted a letter from, totally called out the info in the letter and the XO. Before GB and Deming even brought him on. Once I posted that video, he reached out to that guy, who then posted another video really wanting to just back out of the whole thing and not be involved. To date, Deming has simply repeated what is already known about Kyle, and made generalizations about jocko...and seems to have totally dropped the 'NSW contracts' claim. His statements and the 2 Marines thst were on could be summed up as: Hey we are saying many years ago we saw some behaviors by seals that reported to him that were not good. OK. I told Deming, vet your sources and get real info. I also told him, gather evidence and report to DoD and DoJ...instead he goes on GB and says he fears a lawsuit. Well, you can't be sued successfully if it is true. Simply submit the evidence. To date...it is all girl talk.
