Stainless Steel. great for processing food on. Easy to clean and sterilize. You could probably have a piece cut, bent, and corner welded to slip right over your existing countertop.
@mikewieggers63374 жыл бұрын
Polished food grade stainless steel is expensive, especially if they want it to be a single sheet of stainless. But it would be a quick fix to the broken countertop. It could be fixed within a week, depending on the metal fab shop and how busy they are.

@@lindapolle1665 I'm not stating that a stainless countertop is a bad idea, just expensive. Plus if they do go with stainless, and they want it made out of single sheet, the cost goes even higher. Since the fab shop would have to special order the steel from the mill for the size of their counter. If they want to do it on the cheap, a butcher block top would be more viable since Al and Gina could make it themselves.

That's a major bummer that your countertop broke! It's funny that you mentioned replacing it with butcher block; I was wondering why you didn't do butcher block to begin with, BEFORE you broke the countertop. When my Dad built our house he made one long counter butcher block and we all loved it (lots more chopping area). And since you're making the counter, you could so some tile or granite insets where you usually put your hot pots (and just set those without glue, so you can replace them if necessary). The other plus of having an entire island out of butcher block is avoiding the dropping of a 20 lb chopping block on your feet (yeah, been there, done that...luckily I have tough bones).

I'm amazed that I got 15 eggs today with no sun shine and so much rain. The hot dogs need time to cure. When we made hot dogs from our pork, my grandpa would cure the meat and seasonings for 8 days before putting the meat in the casings. That way he could stir, taste and add more seasonings. He did three grinds, but never the food processor consistency that you did. We smoked them one they were in the casing, the froze them. I think yours needed curing time, and you are correct. The boiling water took your seasonings. Sorry about your counter top (even though it was funny from this end). I'm cheap, so I would epoxy it together, and live with it. Prepare the dough and fill your empanadas with the delicious sausage filling you prepared and add a little shredded cheese if you like. You can fry them or bake them... find recipes for the dough on google, there are soooo many!!! Al, look into soapstone for your counter top. It’s the tops they use in high school and college science labs. Virtually indestructible. Love your channel.

@@geraldcorbitt9626 Yes, that occurred to me also. I 'd additionally add a reinforcing plate on the under side of the break.

Adversity makes us stronger. Gosh, you're REALLY strong! Would it be possible to salvage the current counter top by epoxy-ing the pieces back on, and then recoat the whole top with a 'designer' epoxy finish? There are several YT videos that have shown the many uses of epoxy...from garage floors to counter tops. P.S. Might be worthwhile to smoke a few of the hot dogs to see if there's an improvement in taste....not sure what would fix the texture problem. This was STILL a great video, Lumnahs! 👏👍❤️️

I’d go with butcher block with a square foot granite insert for placing hot pots on.
