I hate myself for saying it but I'm going to say it anyway. Not everyone was problematic. A lot of people were doing really hard work fighting uphill, feeling discouraged and alone, seeing no results, even giving their lives, to make it so we'd all be less problematic today. Like in a similar vein many white people are only now realizing some of the truth of statements about race/oppression that black scholars and leaders made even hundreds of years ago. Mainstream society doesn't listen to or believe marginalized people until it has no alternative and then it acts like it couldn't have known any better, if only you had said something earlier, we didn't know you were so sensitive, etc
