This is the moment I've been the MOST excited about since it became certain that we were going to move in, we are going to remove the plastic floor and find out what's hiding underneath... I hope that you enjoy the first small project in the new house.

I was thinking the same. There's a lot of it in the same colour and it looks to be in a decent condition. The blue underlay with it will save someone a fair bit of money. I wonder if there's enough altogether for a single larger space in a community building?

I wouldn't even touch those floors. It's kinda a waste. If she doesn't at least save them & sell them. A tiny floor like that would cost, 300.00$ And you could put a beautiful rug & move in.. accents would take care of the rest. You are gonna be much more sweaty. Thats alot of work, trust Mr. Yes irs gonna take along time to do the reclaim those floors.

Hi Elise, When you were pulling out the nails and pins from the wood floor, I wondered about that. Our house is 100 years old with wood floors. In some rooms, the floor boards had come loose from the joists, over time, and were horribly noisy, making squeaky, cracking noises. Are you sure you will not need some of those nails? It is a wonderful house. I can't wait to see what you do to it! Suzi

Moss makes a really great lawn, low maintenance, much better for the environment than grass. I urge you not to kill the moss, but embrace it. You could even re-wild areas or plant meadow plants or grass alternatives if you you were up for it. Either way, moss is friend not foe! 💚

That’s a great start already Elise. I can imagine once you sand the floors and wax or varnish them they will be amazing. It will take awhile but there is no hurry. You have a lot of time ahead of you so enjoy the transformation. I also like what you’re doing to open up the lounge space. There is so much natural light and leafy views everywhere. 😍 I take it you checked this was not a supporting wall? Do you have fireplaces and would you attempt to reinstate them or not bother?

Kudos to all the hard work. For easier work and clean up I do suggest a small container to collect the nails while pulling them up and a box or basket or tray to put down your tool to easily push them out off the way when pulling up the click floor and sheets covering the wood floors. So much safer to keep track off tools and lose nails to prevent stepping or kneeling on them.

Please be careful when pulling out walls that they aren't load bearing walls, you don't want to weaken the foundation, and be careful with moving wiring in the wall you're pulling out.
