In this episode I'm installing a suction Control Valve on a Nissan Navara D40 to fix an issue with the common rail fuel system.
My truck had gone into limp mode and after some research I discovered that this is a common culprit for most common rail diesel engines.
This is all part of preparing my vehicle for overland expeditions in the future & in my mind, knowing how to maintain a vehicle is essential.
TOOLS NEEDED -
'
Small Ratchet with 10mm Socket or 10mm Ratchet Spanner
5mm Alan Key (or ratchet bits)
REMOVE NEGATIVE ON BATTERY FOR 90 MINS PRIOR TO STARTING
To carry out the fuel pump reset carry out the following -
Turn ignition on so all dash lights come on.
Wait 3 seconds
PUMP accelerator pedal 5 times within 5 seconds....
with foot now OFF accelerator wait 7 seconds...
After 7 seconds press and hold down accelerator pedal for 10 seconds...
After 10 seconds the Engine Management Light will start to flash, at this point remove foot from accelerator.
The Navara is now in diagnose mode, so let the EML flash for a bit. the press and hold the accelerator pedal down for more than 10 seconds..this will then reset ECU and fuel pump etc......and put them into learning mode.
