The only thing I would offer is when they contact the AG's office, they should provide them with as much documentation as possible to help prove that fraud was committed. Hopefully the way they found out from Alliance about the insurance claim made by the dealership is in an email. That email would be gold for the AG's office.

@lenb36612 күн бұрын
I’m not an RV mechanic, but I am an electrician and have 40+ years experience with construction and also mobile equipment. The construction techniques being used by the RV industry in recent years are not adequate for what an RV goes through. Glue won’t hold trim molding on. Staples won’t hold cabinets together. Poor workmanship and fit up won’t keep water out and sealants won’t work properly trying to fill huge gaps. RVs go through hell on the roads. Imagine your house suffering an earthquake every day on the road. Frames twist, body panels flex, etc. Then throw in often poorly installed wiring and plumbing, etc. Then add the many RVs that are parked in the hot sun - or frozen north - or extreme humidity- extreme environments that adds to problems even without putting a mile on the wheel bearings. My wife’s and my solution - we built our own van. I would also consider building my own on a box truck chassis or modernizing an older RV that was built before they started going downhill in the 20teens. And be sure to do the math on ownership and operating costs. Even a van costs over a dollar a mile to operate considering initial cost, depreciation, maintenance, fuel, etc. Larger units cost two to three times that. They aren’t worth owning if only used a couple weeks a year.

I assure you, this is the way to go. Use your own reliable car/vehicle. Sedan or SUV, perfectly fine to pack for weeks, even months. AirBnB, VBRO, cabin, lots of deals to be had for weekly rentals, even better if you rent for a month. I assure you, it is much, *much* better -- and far cheaper -- to rent an AirBnB for weeks, even months, versus spending six figures on a defective RV, insuring it, the enormous fuel cost, and dealing with all the defects. Regular kitchen, one or more bathrooms with plumbing that works, perhaps multiple bedrooms, usually excellent wifi. And you can stay as long, or as short, as you wish. Another bonus is you never ever have to worry about parking, tunnels, camping, rules, power, hookups, gray and black water tanks, dumping stations, showers, food spoiling in the RV, and on and on. Your sedan or SUV will go anywhere and everywhere with ease. Will never understand, never, why people continue to spend significant sums on these atrocious RV products, when far cheaper, and superior, accommodations are so readily available. And the ultimate bonus is, when you are done with the trip, lock the door and leave. No further responsibility, no maintenance, no replacing tires and brakes and changing oil and fixing all the crap that breaks in these overpriced junkboxes.

The problem is not limited to the Southeast. Many unscrupulous dealers are transporting these hurricane damaged RVs to others parts of the country. One overwhelming connecting theme in the vast majority of Liz's videos is the lack of the buyers getting an independent inspection. People really need to do research on buying any RV and unless they are qualified inspectors themselves, it is not wise to buy an RV without one. Unfortunately, a lot of people just rely on the dealers PDI, which is supposed to indicate Pre Delivery Inspection, but in actuality means "Probably Didn't Inspect"!

@Robnord12 күн бұрын
No offense, but 95% of buyers are not qualified to properly evaluate an RV, new or used, at a dealer. For instance, how do you know a Schwintec in-wall slide system sounds right or if it's a garbage system with nationwide bad reputation? You do not. Hire an independent certified RV tech or RV inspector is the answer. They will catch most problems IF you don't cheap out by limiting them to 1 or 2 hours.

I agree the state AG needs to be notified. GA law might also prevail. Isn’t this a simple case of the dealer selling it as ‘new’ when it was not new anymore - but never previously sold and clearly damaged? If the dealer did not file an insurance claim, aren’t they entitled to file one? If the dealer is irresponsible enough to NOT have their fleet insured, they deserve whatever the AG comes up with. If not insured, are they eligible to file an Idalia-related claim to FEMA? Further, what about all the other trailers that would have been similarly damaged in THAT hurricane? The AG should be further investing ALL sales of trailers damaged in Idalia which were sold as ‘new’ to other unsuspecting buyers. And, the investigation should include similar sales of any trailers that sat through any of the subsequent hurricanes. This case could be even bigger… A&L is NOT the only trailer dealership in hurricane regions. States often have laws that protect buyers from unknowingly purchasing vehicles that were damaged in flooding. This is similar and Georgia State Law might prevail here. PLUS: why is Alliance even entertaining offering a discount of that kind? It’s not their fault! Conditional on buying from the same scammy dealer? Something smells of the two of them being in some kind of cahoots, to perhaps help the dealer sell the damaged units??? Get the AG on the case And if the AG a case produces nothing, in time for Brad and Jan to go on their planned trip, perhaps they should rent one. If they want to buy a truly ‘new’ unit, from that dealer using the $10k offer, I would recommend they have the dealer provide the actual ‘delivery date’ of the new unit… making sure it was delivered AFTER the most recent hurricane.

I like this guy in the video .. if its broke fix it yourself .. These are RVs . They are not mansions on wheels . There is going to be things wrong with them all the time. And its always little things. Get yourself a man like this and you will be alright..

Unbelievable - reinforces the unfortunate need to have even new RVs inspected. As others said this dealer needs to be investigated but the best action is videos like this so others do not go there. Spread the word.

how much did insurance pay? how much did they charge the manufacturer for warranty work, which insurance paid for? Rather than the dealer blaming the manufacturer and trouble with jurisdiction this is on the dealer and since it's fraud, GA courts allow a 3X penalty

Dealers and manufacturers are unethical, but people need to accept responsibility for their decisions. Believe many of these faults would have been uncovered had a better pre-inspection been conducted before accepting delivery.

In 2018 at the same location you bought your RV, this business was under a different name. I was scammed into buying an RV that had previously been wrecked.

As you said, it's a case of fraud and Alliance should do a buy back. That is terrible of the dealer to make an insurance claim on the RV and then sell it as new.

Liz...here is what i would recomend that you have a detailed attorney craft a document that each prospective buyer should take with them when they intend on buying a new RV. That document should serve ro amend and replace any language in the Seller's (dealership or manufacturers) documents. I would sign my document first and hand it over to the sales staff or ownership of the dealership. I would make sure that it addresses future transportation back the the agreed place of repair, compensation for any stay, personal transportation and meals during time the buyer is without their home on wheels and replacement of the unit with a loaner RV of equal or better age, design, and capacity of the one the buyer agreed to initially purchase...with much more detail. The industry needs to be taken to task and if walking away is what it takes because the seller's refuse to sign my buyer's addendum. PhucM. Next lot please.

Alliance should give this couple a buyback, plain and simple...they were already screwed by the dealer...I would talk to lawyer, Ron Burdge, out of Ohio. He specializes in RVs. Stop letting Alliance call the shots.

Contact the Attorney General and let it go to a jury trial. Contact your news station and ask to speak to an investigator reporter. The publicity will hit major news organizations, and the dealership will be bankrupt. Most notably, new laws will come on the books, and the RV industry will be open to fines for fraud and be held accountable for deception. This case can change the entire RV industry!

@ I just watched Liz’s video on the Black Series, very informative. They wanted 42,995 for a 2022 model and they recently raised the price on it, in the past week by 2K, dealer also said for $2800 I could buy a 7 year protection plan on it as well.

Wow! Feel so bad for these folks. We are experiencing the same thing, too. Even with inspection done, some of those issues can not be discovered until used. The entire RV industry, manufacturer and dealership, need to be shut down. This is withholding critical information. These folks deserve a buy back plus more.
@WatersandWildernessКүн бұрын
The bigger the RV and the combination of slide outs, the more problems. I have no doubt that folks want bigger for the room, however, you are looking at more problems. Don't purchase them, wait a few years until the manufacturers get their product builds correct. AND DON'T PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THE AREAS OF THE HURRICANE! NEVER TRUST AND GET AN INSPECTION ON NEW RV'S IF YOU DARE TO BUY ONE. Stick with what you have, sometimes, smaller is better. Consider buying a van or a bus and having a local business build it out for you.
