So I'm a Medic on Harry Potter, made at Leavesden Studios UK. I had worked all day on different sets. Green screen Blue screen, you know film stuff. At dinner time I went to the canteen for dinner. Taking my seat and eating a Man sat opposite me dressed as one of the titular characters in full makeup. I was wearing my medic uniform and we soon struck up a conversation. What did I do ETC? When I asked what part he was playing, he said O I'm Dumbledore. Yes folks I had dinner with the late great Richard Harris. He was a Gentleman. I have many fond memories from working on those films, Smoking with Robbie Coltrane. Being shot at with spitballs by the young cast and many many more. PEACE

We lost some good people. Rest easy to all of them, especially the ones who struggled with drug issues. You are not forgotten. Michael K Williams and Brad Renfro were memorable actors. Richard Harris, as a young handsome man, was hired to play Doris Day's leading man in a lush, rich production released in 1967 "Caprice". Doris is a MOD spy stealing a recipe for a hairspray "Caprice" which keeps hair dry while in water. A mild comedy romping throughout Europe and the US. During the filming, Harris told Doris that he wanted and planned to become a recording artist and sought direction. Doris coached him while they were filming. What a coach we should all be lucky enough to have!! He went on to record several hit songs and albums. Who knew? The film is fun to watch and you can see the wealth of production values right from the beginning.

It broke my heart to hear that it was an OD that took him from this world; as a someone who's been clean for nigh on 9 years it's not easy to want to use again but sometimes the pressure is so immense, all you want to do is alleviate the pain.. not knowing that may be your last time breathing. The actor from Jurassic Park movie, I had no idea was the same man from the GREAT movie THE GREAT ESCAPE. Which was a TRUE story about a big escape planned from a German prison camp in world war 2 , roughly just before D-Day 1944. It has very big name actors in it. check it out if you don't know it. its SO GOOD. Steve McQueen , James Garner, Donald Pleasence, the actor who was after Michael in the Halloween movies. What is interesting, is that Donald, and James Garner were BOTH actually in world war 2. James Garner fought in world war 2, The Korean war and also the Vietnam war. He received 14 medals during his time in military service. so if you want to see an excellent world war 2 movie which is true with these 2 men in it, watch THE GREAT ESCAPE.

The most destructive ones are alcohol and tobacco. But the biggest problem is the zero tolerance approach. Cocaine was the ingredient that made the world's best known soda so popular, and heroin was an ingredient in bex powder and other patent cold & flu remedies. Just as with alcohol, use doesn't always equate with abuse. But more money can be made from them when they're illegal. Just ask the cocaine cartels, which would collapse if it was decriminalised. Lot of lessons we failed to learn from prohibition, the only reason anybody knows who Al Capone was. Personally I think the greatest drug problem is antidepressant overprescription, which won't be addressed because it's so profitable for big pharma. And don't forget that the 3rd leading cause of death is medication error. It's the legal ones causing some of the biggest problems, and of the problems caused by the rest, most are BECAUSE they're illegal. Destroy the profit incentive and the black market, and regulate them. Will end 90% of illegal drug-related crime or more.

The only reason you might feel Richard Harris's highest profile role was Harry Potter, then you don't know about Camelot, or A Man Called Horse. And I hated to hear about Taylor Negron, he should have had many more film roles, but his accomplishments were numerous. And I REALLY feel for Rowdy Roddy, he was one of the first people to really expose the way he, and plenty of other "professional" wrestlers, wre used by Vince MdMahon. Many of these were people who had long and distinguished careers. I feel for the Gary Coleman's, Heather O'Rourkes, Bernie Mac's, Anton Yeltsin's, et al, that we lost so tragically early in their lives. Speaking of Harry Potter cast, you may not immediately recognise the name Robert Knox. He did show up on screen, he was sitting next to Emma Watson during the Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince scene at the table during the Slughorn's chat session. He died at the young age of 28 (I guess), he was murdered when he was defending his younger brother from an armed burglar, shot dead. His younger brother survived thankfully, Robert died as a hero. When I learned of that, I cried. Not because he'd be somewhat memorable, but because he died so young. Parents should never outlive their children. But if Robert didn't sacrifice himself, his younger brother would be probably on his place.

He died because his brother ripped off a drug dealer who demanded his money back; not during a burglary. He was stabbed once in the chest, near a street after trying to intervene in a heated argument over money owed.

What people don’t understand is that is much harder to be a believable actor that most people realize. Many are method actors and when they have to play a historic character they will recreate the conditions under which the “real life” person was under during their life in order to make their performance believable. The problem with this is that they are so believable as that character that characters personality traits might stay with that actor and end up effecting their REAL life off screen. This can be troublesome for an actor that isn’t sure whom they are in the first place, and/or already battles with mental health issues.

Just wanting to go to hollywood nowadays, you'd have to have a box of rocks as brains. Especially, when there's plenty information out there to be found before going and signing your name in blood. Plus, just give that place a year or so and it should come tumbling down, at least I hope so!!!

Not every actor is gonna get launched into superstardom and it's the same way with the vast majority of us regular folk. Most employees will never own their own company or earn a six figure salary, but you don't see them pointing the finger of blame at the latest social injustice. My own career never afforded me the recognition or the money I originally hoped for but that's the way the cookie crumbles but I'm just a lowly white guy so apparently my story doesn't count. Bottom line is we're all affected by this in pretty much the same way but it seems some people insist on riding the victimhood train if their dreams don't become a reality.

hi Mikel - i love your name :) most if us are in your position. somehow i wasn’t meant to be recognized for my talents, except by my best three friends. but life is so much worse for so many. so i do appreciate your thoughts. you sound like a real good guy :) however, i don’t understand what triggered your response. could you mention what it was? or just a general response about people who with luck do get noticed. 🌷🌱
@ComputerLearning0

@@feralbluee It was in reference to the last segment about Michael K. Williams always being cast in thug type roles and not being recognized the way people felt he should. This practice isn't exclusive to Hollywood and affects white people as well, as there have been plenty of whites who portrayed thug characters their entire careers, yet nary a word is ever spoken of them. You only hear about non-white actors, which is rather peculiar... almost as if there's an agenda in there somewhere. Truth is, we ALL deal with this but some seem to think whites are immune to it. I just wish people would quit playing the blame game and realize that not everyone can be or will be a superstar.

When Heather passed away I was a child as well. I was so confused why she had died because that was before we had the internet to do research on and I thought she had died because others had died that had been in the poltergeist series and it was an oman. That's terrible they misdiagnosed her and that ultimately lead to her death. That's so horrible. As someone that lives with 7 autoimmune diseases I never thought I would ever live to see 45 and I don't remember that birthday because I was too busy fighting two primary cancers squamous cell carcinoma that spread to my bones (terminal) and endometrial cancer. After close to 5 years I'm in remission but on most days I wonder why and still mainly stay in the bed because of my bones but knowing so many that have less than me didn't live no where as long as me really says a lot. My Dr's said if I hadn't always been aware of my diet and exercise I definitely wouldn't have made it this far let alone through my cancer treatments.

3 comments. You missed the main reason I know Richard Griffiths from his work playing Dr. Meinheimer and the man who impersonated him in The Naked Gun 2 1/2. I will never forget Taylor Negron’s only line in Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Pizza Guy, who ordered the Double Cheese and Sausage? Aside from his famous line from They Live, Roddy Piper is known for the fist fight he had with Keith David in that movie. It is believed to be the longest fight of it’s kind in movie history. It came in at somewhere around five minutes long.

I'm completely against putting children in entertainment roles as they seem to be chum in a sea of sharks. I avoid any movie where they try to promote the child as the star or one of the major ones in it, it almost seems to me they are pimping these kids where their parent seems to misdirect them and with them having access to money and handlers and drugs without the maturity... it just seems like an intentional fatal combination to me.
