Mahi Mahi and Mutton Snapper action fishing off shore of Florida's Treasure Coast. October fishing starts the change in fishing seasons along the Treasure Coast of Florida. Offshore fish are migrating and the chance of catching a trophy are good. I headed out of St Lucie Inlet at sunrise trolling for Mahi Mahi. Unfortunately the trolling was slow so I began reef fishing on the six mile reef using live Mullet for bait. I landed a keeper Mutton and an Amberjack but the bite was pretty slow. While I was trolling I marked some promising looking bottom off the deep ledge. I headed to that spot and caught a Mahi Mahi and another nice Mutton Snapper. I unfortunately lost a bunch more in the reef. Overall it ended up being a decent day.

Incredible day out there even with all the lost fish. Good variety of fish. Sucks about losing that weight holder and the issues you had with it but at least you got the fish. I thought fish would be lost just unclipping it. 👍

@@CProFishingWithWayne 2 were 15lbs and the rest average. The bigger ones were caught in 450ft trolling. The rest 100ft to 150ft on a flat line with finger mullet.

Another awesome day. Solid video. Can you make one about how you set up your boat while bottom fishing. I see you have a trolling motor on a pretty big sized boat it spot lock over one location or a modified drift keeping your bow into the current etc...?

All depends on wind and speed and current. I usually just spot lock if I don’t drift. I will use the trolling motor to position when slow trolling. I will try to talk about it in my next video. Appreciate you watching.

That first mutton with the bite marks, I'm thinking "Good! Wayne cheated the taxman on that one!" So when you lipped that fish, I was surprised it didn't have some teeth, but i knew better on that barracuda.....he got some teeth, Wayne won't be lipping that one! Noticed the line on your reels as being multi colored, is that a leadcore line? Tight Lines Mr!

😂 I had caught a couple big blue runners right before that. You know how Jacks and Runners you can feel the tail thrust when they get near the surface, so at that split second it did that and I doubted it being a Mutton. Glad it was!! Thanks John

I add my own bank sinker clip because I don’t like the ones it comes with. So I buy the pack without them and it saves money.

Keys are different so it depends on your depth and current. If you’re fishing deeper reefs 80’ plus with current use my technique with 30-50’ leader of 30-40 lb flouro. There’s bigger fish down there so you might need to bump up the leader strength a little. If you’re fishing the shallow patch reefs with less current I heard they use knocker rigs with light tackle and leader.
