I've been saying for years that I've never met somebody jacked that didn't have a fluffy/fat bulking phase that lasted a while. A major caloric surplus for an extended period is one of the best things you can do to build muscle.

Personnally my brother put on like 15kgs in around 1-2 years and always stayed lean. He had a really low bodyfat to start with and always ate good food, even after eating a simple ice cream he would go run and like he never counted his calories or anything. Idk might just be the genetics. I find myself kinda putting on fat when im trying to bulk tho.

I thought it was a good point you made that a younger person would not listen to the advice to eat only chicken & rice, not to drink etc, because no other guys are doing it at that age. Right now I think that it was actually kind a good thing I did not really have friends outside school from the age 14 - 18, because otherwise I would've just been in shitty groups drinking etc. 19 soon and thanks to my younger self I am way ahead of my peers regarding muscle mass and strength since I compete at powerlifting as well. Also just now I have gotten a few really close high quality friends who are on self improvement too. And I think that It has only been possible since I chose loneliness over shitty friends. Not encouraging anyone to be a lone wolf, it is not the way to go. You really are missing on one of the most important things in life, human connection. Sometimes just being alone might be the better option. For a while.

One thing I think should be said, I notice even for myself, when I pushed the volume and over did intensity I definitely got bigger but my strength was dirt. Now my strength is way up and STILL on that trajectory but I focus more on recovery while still training to failure or close to it. And I’m bigger. So I think it’s more a question of do you want to be big because of volume or strength?

My experience is perhaps different. Im 41 years old and have lifted pretty solid for 22 years. I built some good permanent muscle but had trouble putting on real size. I decided to raise my testosterone from 600 to 1000 and bam! With a weight lifters diet and eating every two hours I went from 165 lbs to 200 lbs. I think all the years of conditioning my muscles helped tremendously, because I'm not carrying water at all,it's real muscle. Couldn't be happier!

It's funny watching lifting advice go full circle. When I started in the 2000s it was a series of isolations and machines and almost no barbell work. Everyone copied some advanced bodybuilder even though they were a beginner. To be honest I don't miss it. Felt like I spun my wheels for those years, and coming back in later in life I was able to make much bigger gains, much faster, with more measurable performance improvements. Though my goals aren't 1:1 with a lot of people's.

I disagree with the "only 10-20 reps" thing. I think bodybuilders should do strength cycles, the same way strength athletes do hypertrophy cycles. Every couple of months i think a bodybuilder should do a full on, heavy, lower rep strength cycle with the only goal being increasing max lifts. It allows for more hypertrophy potential. Also you will never see (for example) a great high bar squatter with small legs.

It's not just cycles of "every couple of months". You talking about periodization and that can be done by per workout as well, u can separate low rep, moderate and high rep within a workout and reap the rewards of periodization which yes will be beneficial for muscle hypertrophy, the boy in the video is unfortunately unaware of this, deeply obssessed with staying away from strenght training he doesn't understand how it can provide a different varied stimulus, which combined with high and moderate rep range will provide more muscle hypertrophy.

Periodization is directly beneficial to muscle hypertrophy so i disagreed with the video a bit. Besides strength, incorporating low, moderate and high rep range in one training program is actually more beneficial for specifically hypotrophy then exclusively doing 10- 20, 15-20, 10-15 etc.

@@edwisongogo6326 i kind of feel the same. Obviously whether you aim for hypertrophy or strength mainly, you still develop a physique and strength. @@ElevatedLevetator cool they can pick up shxt while looking like a caveman. When it comes to speed, power , endurance and literally damn near every sport, Africans dominate genetically. The 1 sport where it all comes together which is football is literally so black dominated that u could ban every other race and the competition would still shxt on a league of every other other race together vs the black league

That why they generalize it(2-3 2-5 years). That’s at least enough to build a foundation. Some people will take 3 years to build the foundation, some less

Regarding looking better and better and better, it sucks because whenever I look in the mirror I just see a fat weak guy. I’ve been training for years. I am not fat at all. I am muscular but no matter what I do, I just keep seeing myself as a fat slob. It sucks but hopefully one day my dumbass brain will chill tf out

Looool, starting your video off and you lot went off the rails with that 2-3 years noticeable lift shape. Most people, if not all, who are skinny fat or skinny can put that lifting shape in a easy 3-4 months process with rest and moderate food intake. Don’t mislead people for thinking it’s hard to achieve shapes in short term periods because shapes are easy to retain and muscles are hard to gain!
