@LinneAzalea3 жыл бұрын
@@peteranon8455 Don’t assume things. Had she been one of his parents I would have judged much harder, since I would have had enough to judge them on. In this case, I judged it based on: 1, She had nothing to do with him getting kicked out. Why? Well she is stated to be younger than him, thus she could have been anywhere between 0-14 years old, when he was kicked out. Even if she was 14, she would still have been too young to do anything. Did it ever occur to you that it might have been a really traumatic experience for her? She was too young to stop her parents and too young to help her brother. She might have loved, adored and idolized him, like many younger siblings do. Maybe she had to seek therapy for it? You have no idea, and neither do I, but it’s not a far fetched idea, is it? I for one can’t stand even imagining seeing a sibling getting thrown out at such a young age, if I myself couldn’t even help. 2, She simply wanted to meet him, but was refused in a quite harsh way. So obviously she got hurt and didn’t react in the most mature way (neither did he). She first started asking about thanksgiving, and he said no. She then asked about Christmas, and he said no. Then she simply asked about when they could meet, and he said no, that he had no will or interest in meeting her. Which of course is hurtful, no matter if it’s a sibling or a friend. He doesn’t owe her anything and has no obligation to meet her, but the fact that he doesn’t want to meet her (when we know little of the reasons behind) does make him come off as petty and immature. He has a lot of healing to do still, he clearly isn’t over his past

Punish the restaurant with no patronage if you want, but not the server with no tip! There's nothing to proven, gained, or learned by this; you're just petty. 3. All of this is based on a rumored of maliciousness. If it's true, OP has no need to associate with those who won't apologize, but if they're not.... 4. "I tried my best!" Well, that was never enough to make up for not being loved like a child should.

Story three: I feel him there. My mother’s family were utter shitheads leading up to, during, and after my brothers funeral. Completely unsupportive with the few exceptions of my grandmother, my uncle, and one cousin. They had the gall to alienate my brothers only child from my mother and all of her children (who saw my brother as their father figure), not visit her for the entire first year, save for one who brought flowers twice (the aforementioned one cousin), and proceed to also alienate her from the extended family. Just picture the pain she had to go through: losing her first son, thinking that she had a strong support system, being alienated by that support system, and having to leave to go live with your daughters hundreds of miles away because the people who are supposed to be your family are shitting all over you. If I could completely cut all of them off, without hurting my mothers feelings, I would. It doesn’t matter how much they act as though they care, they showed that their love is not unconditional, and that when shit gets hard, they lash out at people who are already hurting. I realized just how horrible having to depend on tips is when I was trying to get an accounting degree. A restaurant can pay a server as low $1.50 to $3.00 per hour and they are supposed to make up the rest to minimum wage in tips. The owner is not obligated to pay the difference if they don’t make it to the thresh hold of minimum wage because it is “a sign of their performance.” There is many things in accounting that isn’t right so I couldn’t finish the degree. I tip a lot because of knowing this.

Hey I'm early! 1. The real saying is "the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb” It means that the people you shed blood for is thicker then the blood of the womb. "His blood might not run through my body but his seamen." BWA HAHAHAHAHAHAHA🤣😂 2. In the US some waiters/waitress' do in fact demand tips even though it isn't mandatory. "The real saying is...." Only since 2005-ish when a messianic rabbi decided to use it in a homily. The actual saying goes back to at least the 17th century and reads, "blood be not spoilt by water." The modern version is likely the result of cultural or historical misunderstanding.

Story 2: NTA. Server in the US here. I've served in restaurants and showed this to my bf who has way more server and managing experience than me. It is very possible to get the same servers especially post covid since restaurants retained a solid skeleton crew. If OP really called the restaurant as soon as he got home, the charge is very easily changed in the system and the restaurant should not have denied it or should have offered an alternative. The fact that the waitress was angry that OP didn't tip shows that she does check tips and most likely didn't even address it last time. Her entitled attitude is gross and unprofessional which can lead to termination in some places.. And manager comping dishes does not come out of the server but can get logged in incident reports. If she did get reprimanded, it was for her piss poor attitude. While most places in the US barely pay anything, some states like California do pay their employees minimum wage and im not sure where op is. In my state, we get $9 per hour but the restaurant does have to pay the difference if we do not get enough tips to meet minimum wage of $12 per hour. Not all states are the same but hopefully this explains a bit. Ultimately, gratuities are not a right but a thank you for good service. The government is the one who should be setting laws to make server minimum wage instead of forcing patrons to tip so we can survive. Getting stiffed comes with the job. Suck it up and move on or find something else.

Tipping story: I was taking an Advanced Story Telling class at Western Washington University and I had to arrange a story telling concert, of which I also had to perform in. I was VERY stressed and despite diabetes type I, I didn't eat all day, just drank sugared lattes. After it was all over I took my fiancé and his boss to a nice Mexican restaurant, my treat. I was starving by that time. I ordered a full meal and two ala carte items. The waiter commented TWICE that that was "a lot of food!" I gave him a chilly smile and said I knew. He brought the appies then dinners and I noticed my platter didn't have the rice and beans it should have. I called him over and pointed it out. He said he "thought it was just too much for one person and so left them off." I was mad by that point and said I had ordered it so I obviously wanted it. It was embarrassing to have that exchange in front of my two guests. And really my tip would have been based on the bill total--order more=bigger bill=bigger tip. Why did he care if I was being a hog? Well, the tip *would* have been based on the total if he hadn't been a jerk. I paid cash and in the tip area I wrote "you put in your two cents so here is my two cents". Yup, for an almost $100.00 bill (appetizers, dinners, drinks, my ala carte extras and a shared dessert came up to $100.00 and he got two pennies as his tip.

Former server/bartender here. Story 2: YTA. It's not unheard of for someone to give a massive tip around holidays or in times of hardship. At most restaurants, at the end of the night your tips are given to you in the form of cash. They don't typically refund tips after the end of shift because that would require the server to pay the restaurant back the money from their own funds. This also throws off the server's tax reports. I've worked at a couple of different places where customers would routinely treat their friends/family/clients to a big night out, tipping generously, only to ask for the charges to be reversed the following day. They get to look like the big shot, but then they don't get seen trying to steal that money back from the restaurant & server.

I need to rant a bit after story 3. Sorry🤣 Backstory: My grandma inherited a huge estate from my great grandparents. She lived there most of her life and she always opened her home to everyone which included distant relatives. Some totally took advantage of that and treated the house like a hotel or airbnb. They would 'visit' her during holiday celebrations, always arriving at midnight, claimed a room or part of the house for themselves and left messes for my mum to clean up after. They only maintained contact with us so that they'd have free lodgings. Fast forward, my grandmas health was deteriorating and mum having no other way to help, put her into a healthcare facility? Old age home? (sorry i can't english) and all hell broke loose. They said that mum didn't care for grandma because she didn't take grandma to live with us. Which is bull🤬 because our home wasnt equipped to suit her needs. They verbally and emotionally abused mum for YEARS. When in fact mum was renovating our house at the same time so that we could take grandma to live with us. During this time, nobody wanted to take her in when they found out that grandma's bedridden but still continued to harass my mum. They stopped after mum finally took grandma to live with us which they sometime still gave her 🤬 because mum hired a maid to care for her needs when mum's working. They wanted mum to tend to grandma's needs while still going to work, etc. Which i don't know how considering grandma is BEDRIDDEN and needed constant care🤷🏻 Now, my grandma had passed and the estate naturally was given to mum because she's grandma's only living child. But EVERYONE started to give mum hell again because they somehow believed that they deserve a part of the estate as well or at least be given free reign of the house like before while saddling mum with all the bills and the upkeeps. Mum sometimes wanted to give in to their demands and mend the bridge because she has no family left. This is where i might be the AH because I keep burning the bridge every single time. I keep reminding her of all the mental and verbal ABUSE they'd thrown at her before. Why would she want to keep any of them in her life?🤷🏻 i wish i can do more but as of right now, i need to protect mum from them without actually being involved in the drama as she didn't want me to fight her battles for her which is bull🤬 because I've seen the damage they'd done to her and despite that i want to be directly involved, i have to respect her wishes for now. Sorry for the long rant lol. As always, great video! Just the kind of boost i need to start my day💖
