Regarding minerals, most people are probably also deficient in potassium, just look at the RDA (around 4000mg) and where you can find it in food...

What’s your take on blood type diet, eat right 4 [for] your type, our blood is what makes us different, so how could we all eat the same and all fell the same after a meal, we don’t some fell good , some alright and others fell like crap and we say it must be something that you ate, our digestive juices are different and break down things differently, so just wondering what you think about the blood type diet does it have any merit, thank you for your insight

guess which E.D. advertisement "popped up" right after your video finished? talk about endless chatter to sell a product? My First question is WHY are they even allowed to sell it online when Vitamins are not even allow to "claim" anything, and are not regulated. But "THESE" are allowed to do what ever they want, and get away with it. Sorry that was a rant. My wife and I do try and follow exactly what you had said in this video and our Doctor seems to agree with how well it works for us. We are in our 70's and he thinks we are getting better each year. Thank you.

For some people, gaining weight can be as hard as losing weight is for the obese, and some individuals who have trouble putting on weight may display higher energy expenditure because of increased fidgeting (Marra et al., 2007), high-normal thyroid hormone levels (Hu et al., 2022), or increased resting metabolic rate per kilogram of lean mass (Bossu et al., 2007). It’s also worth pointing out that when we increase calorie intake to gain weight, this necessarily increases energy expenditure, including basal metabolic rate (BMR) and total daily energy expenditure (TDEE) (Harris et al., 2006). It burns calories to digest and absorb additional food, build new tissue, and maintain and move a larger body (Joosen & Westerterp 2006). In addition, increasing energy intake leads to increases in sympathetic activity (Landsberg & Krieger 1989; Gentile et al., 2007) and thyroid activity (Bray 2020), which may make up a carefully regulated thermogenic program to help prevent the development of obesity. Many sources suggest that your metabolism is fixed and largely determined by genetics. However, many studies show that it’s actually possible to change your metabolism through diet and lifestyle choices. For example, something as simple as drinking a cup of cold water actually increases metabolism and sympathetic activity (May & Jordan 2011). By contrast, one thing that decreases your metabolism is resistive breathing techniques (Grishin et al., 2014), and just wearing a face mask has been shown to reduce resting VO2 by as much as 20-25% (Mapelli et al., 2021; Shui et al., 2022). What we eat affects the thermic effect of food (TEF) - the increase in metabolism produced by eating. Some dietary constituents such as protein (Pesta & Samuel 2014), sugar (Raben et al., 1994), and caffeine (Bergman & Hill 2001) increase TEF. By contrast, it may be possible to reduce TEF by eating more healthful fats (Rasmussen et al., 2007; Calcagno et al., 2019) and more fiber (Scalfi et al., 1987; Oh et al., 2007; Marinangeli & Jones 2011). Small changes such as these can make a difference and really add up over time, helping a person with weight and fitness goals. Changing your metabolism is actually possible, so here are a few tips for decreasing your metabolism to make it easier to start gaining weight. 1. Manage stress. Mental stress leads to a significant increase in metabolism (as much as 20% in one study using mental arithmetic (Seematter et al., 2000)). To alleviate stress, it’s helpful to remember that constantly worrying about a problem does nothing to solve it and probably won’t even help you find a good solution. Instead of ruminating about the problem all day long, try setting aside some time each day (perhaps 10-15 minutes) to write down your thoughts and think about possible solutions. Some people may also find it helpful to play relaxing instrumental music such as classical or new age. Studies show that listening to this kind of music can reduce levels of thermogenic stress hormones such as cortisol (Knight et al., 2001; Khalfa et al., 2003; Koelsch et al., 2011; Lee et al., 2017), noradrenaline, and adrenaline (Möckel 1995; Brunges & Avigne 2003; Yamamoto 2003; Okada 2008). In one study of low birth weight infants, playing Mozart’s music was shown to lead to a significant decrease in metabolic rate (Lubetzky et al., 2010). Also, practicing meditation or yoga may be helpful for managing stress. These ancient practices help promote relaxation and reduce levels of cortisol (Kumar et al., 2018), noradrenaline, and adrenaline (Infante et al., 2001). 2. Reduce NEAT. "NEAT" stands for "nonexercise activity thermogenesis," and it refers to all the activities that a person does throughout the day excluding formal exercise. Examples include walking across a parking lot, playing an instrument, cleaning, cooking, and fidgeting. In fact, some individuals may subconsciously increase their NEAT in response to high-calorie diets (Levine et al., 1999). When you're trying to gain weight, you can reduce your NEAT by learning to control nervous fidgeting, which can burn up as many as 350 calories per day (Grady 2005). One thing that might help with this is seated meditation, which is good practice in remaining still. Also, eating more omega-3 fatty acids may help reduce fidgeting and locomotor activity. It works in rats - both in the normal rat (Chalon et al., 1998) and in the spontaneously hypertensive rat (Hauser 2014), an animal model of ADHD. Doing fewer household chores and enjoying more books and movies will also help reduce NEAT. 3. Decrease T3 levels. Increasing energy intake has been shown to increase levels of triiodothyronine (T3), the main active thyroid hormone (Bray 2020), and this may increase energy expenditure and reduce the efficiency of weight gain. However, it may be possible to offset this by making certain changes. For example, increasing iodine and selenium intake may produce small yet significant reductions in thyroid hormone levels (Paul et al., 1988; Hawkes & Keim 2003; Sang et al., 2012). Placing a cold compress at the front of the neck may also help reduce thyroid blood flow, which, in turn, may decrease thyroid activity. In the old days, they used Lugol’s iodine solution and cold compresses on the thyroid to treat Graves’ disease (before the development of antithyroid drugs). The goal was to “reduce the vascularity of the gland and so diminish the excretion of the normal or perverted substance” (Link www.google.com/books/edition/Endocrinology_and_metabolism_v_1/BZ2Ynnapg8cC?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=cold+compress+exophthalmic+goiter+%22leiter+coil%22&pg=PA370&printsec=frontcover). 4. Get more quality sleep. Getting 7-9 hours of sleep per night can help reduce your metabolic rate, whereas sleep deprivation has been shown to increase TDEE (Jung et al., 2011; Markwald et al., 2013). The quality of your sleep also affects your metabolism, and poor sleep quality in the elderly has been found to increase sleeping metabolic rate (Valenti et al., 2017). Playing white or pink noise, such as the sound of a fan or ocean waves, has been shown to help study participants fall asleep more quickly and sleep more deeply (Williamson 1992; Warjri et al., 2022). Taking a magnesium supplement or a warm bath before bed may also facilitate entry into deeper sleep stages. To make it easier to fall asleep at night, it’s helpful to wake up and go to bed at the same time every day, including on weekends. It’s also a good idea to use the bed only for sleep and do all other activities somewhere else so your body will learn to associate being in bed with falling asleep.
