Maybe the cops and court systems should do more or be allowed to do more so people like this are not stealing cars and almost killing people. They know they won't get in much trouble so it's practically being allowed or instigated for people to do this. This should have ended immediately instead the suspects ran and could have been shot. They did not care if they hurt or killed people. Luckily non had a gun or weapon that I noticed but they might have and by the time the cop finds out it's too late. If I had my car stolen I would be screwed. Rent and bills are so expensive compared to 2 years ago that I wouldn't be able to afford another car and I need it for work. @@chrison4k177 1-Harsh criminals should have gotten capital punishment already and death row should not be a thing, it's straight to the chair or such if you're guilty. That would cut down on prison numbers. 2- 0.35% of America's population is in prison. About 1.2 million. 3-Certain crimes are not adequatly punished. R*pe, abduction, torture, bestiality, canabalism, going after minors, sex trafficking other gross crimes against humanity like necrophilia etc should get capital punishmemt. 4-Repeat offenders should also get capital punishment. There's tons of folks on the street right now with 30, 40 charges, because the crimes were not "bad enough" but include things like groping, flashing, assault, armed robbery etc and started from let's say 2005 to 2023 now. People already have proven they don't want to live peacefully with all of us, so capital punishment. The point of law is justice and deter future crime. 5-Minors should be triad as adults by default. Gives parentd more incentives to deter their children from breaking the law. You get more of what you tolerate. This would solve most issues. But current society is way too weak to adopt this. Welcome to Milwaukee co. These kids get a $100 fine and released. Meanwhile the vehicle owners who many times have just liability or no insurance at all are fucked. They don't care that they just stole a working low income mothers car or some middle class guys car. They treat the cars like bumper cars jumping them, sliding into curbs or completely totaling the vehicle. I actually have a good friend who owns a shop here in Milwaukee. I stop by to help him out every now and again, and I see so many people come in with their car in tow. The vehicles are often damaged so badly the suspensions are often beyond repair, body work through the roof, blown out tires and bent wheels are super common. And it's always the same story, liability or no insurance at all. Alot of I just got the car stories. Alot of people hardly getting by and now are on the bus because these kids wrecked their vehicles. Right now we're doing a 74 year old man's 2013 hyundai sonata that needed a complete new front subframe, motor mounts,axels, front suspension, front passenger and rear passenger doors, and the passenger side rear quarter panels wash pushed in so far that it made the back of the car crooked. The bill on this old man's 2013 hyundai is costing him $27,000. We had to buy a parts car, chop it behind the rear doors and swap over everything from the doner car and re mate the back half of the doner to the smashed car. Now his insurance paid him 5k for the car to be totaled out and be brought it back for like $200. So he's putting up 21k of his own money to fix it. The reason why was that it was the only gift he was ever given from his wife who passed from cancer. That man would have paid every last dime he had to save that car and he did put majority of his savings into it. He had taken it to 6 different shops that wouldn't touch it before Mt buddies shop got it. You don't think of guys like that when u see these kids in these cars. Many of these kids are under the belief that insurance pays for everything when majority of the time that's not the case. Anyways I recommend 5 years for anyone who knowingly steps foot in a stolen car. That should put an end to the "kia boys"

Dude, we sentence at least 2500 children as young as 13 to life in prison every year. We aren't taking sentences lightly. Although, you need to understand that the US and State Constitutions include rights SPECIFICALLY FOR CRIMINALS. And State constitutions make considerations specific to minors. It's not a matter of light sentencing laws. It's a matter of living in a society with rights vs one without them. And, you'll just have to stay pissed. The Prosecution made a determination regarding the ability to actually win the case. That is why they were ELECTED BY THE LOCAL CITIZENS. They can just be voted out. It also doesn't matter that the officer had to chase them down. That's why the cops are PAID to do. They were fully compensated for their efforts. Why should their having to run ever be a consideration in any sentencing effort? The remorse, age, and conditions of the crime should matter most at sentencing.
@JustSimplyRobert Жыл бұрын
@@yourleftisttesticle A proper punishment also acts as a good deterrent. If someone comes out of a crime just to commit another offense of the same crime, it means the punishment is unfit for the crime. I agree that there needs to be reform in the justice system, but no one is advocating for throwing a child in jail for life for stealing a car and trying to use that type of whataboutism in this situation as part of an argument is part of the reason why things are only getting worse. Everyone feels like an extreme needs to be used to correct an extreme, if there are to many kids spending life in prison then lets not send criminal kids to prison at all then. It's such a backwards way of thinking. In some cases the justice system is way to unfair and in other cases it fails the victims of the crime and does nothing like in this situation, and reform needs to happen to fix that. That being said, it depends on the situation but in most cases no jail time is the exact same as rewarding someone for the crime and encouraging more bad behavior. Adults are set in their ways, but its much easier to scare a child out of a life of crime and a few months in jail would have been more than fair for this kind of thing. Cops get paid to stop criminals, but just like with any job, if you are costly having to clean up messes because those around you are not doing what they are supposed to do then it is unfair to the ones picking up the slack. Because the justice system has failed, there are a lot of times cops are constantly having to go after the same people because the suspects have been empowered and encouraged by a lack of consequences.

Those punished were for 2 passengers in the vehicle, not the driver. We don’t know what the driver got sentence with since it was redacted. Imo it’s a tough situation, since the passengers in the vehicle did not put anyone in danger themselves, the worse they did was run. The one person who didn’t run didn’t even get charged at all because the prosecution would have a hard time proving that he was directly involved. As a passenger in that situation, what can someone do? Fight to take control of the wheel and kill everyone in the car? Bail out at high speed? That’s why the charges were so minor, it was just resisting arrest. The charge “operating without consent as a passenger” probably exists so cops CAN arrest passengers or else it would be hard to find a reason to arrest them.

Unlike adult court which is public. So, with only second hand information from Midwest Safety lots of angry white men in this comments section are just shaking their fist and/or canes in the air. From the very limited info we have they all got reduced sentences in exchange for guilty pleas. This is very common in the US as trials are expensive and there is always a backlog with trial courts. Some got 320 hours (40 days) of community service. At least one of them reoffended and was given a 1 year suspended sentence and 2 years of probation. Neither community service or probation is easy to do. Also, if the kid reoffends again the 1 year sentence un-suspends and they will have to serve that in juvenile detention in addition to whatever additional punishment they get. Again this all could be wrong. We don't have an official record.

I think 1 year in jail would have done more to smarten him up than that. My money is on him recommitting again before probation ends

Lol they aren't. Violent crime has been decreasing per Capita since the late 90s according to FBI statistics and not just in the US but other western nations too. With increase population it will seemingly happen more often but for the size of the population less people are commiting them. Which is why the whole gun control debate is stupid too, gun homicides are already decreasing without them getting rid of them, but unfortunately with stricter control means others have less ability to defend themselves when it does happen. It's all just media crap trying to get everyone freaked out when I'm reality the world is slowly getting better. If you think the world is more dangerous and violent now then the early to mid 1900s then your crazy.

Our judicial system is a flat out joke. These kids should be responsible for all of the costs involved with this crime. If they do not have money to pay--it will come out of their paychecks as soon as they ever get a job or be added on to their next conviction in double time for the balance. No matter their ages the authorities need to stop hiding the identities of the young repeat offenders. Plaster their names and faces all over social and conventional media.
