Erik, I've been backpacking here in the states my entire adult life, but I never cared to watch backpacking videos until I stumble on one of yours. Now I never miss a chance to watch your videos on my big screen and with headphones on so I don't miss a single sound you've captured. Thank you!

Thank you Erik. After a long wet day paddling in Scotland I made camp and got into my tent. An owl in a nearby tree asked " whoooo are youuuuuuu? Fantastic. First time I heard an owl and I felt honoured, he was welcoming me to his land.

It’s incredible how much your films improved over the last two or three years, although the films back then were far from being bad. The sound, the long shots, the details, the different focal lengths, the story-telling and your peaceful meditative contentment all come together in these absolute masterpieces of films. At least to me, they trigger this deep primordial longing for adventure and exploring and have inspired me to go solo-camping on my own. Thanks for creating them!

I breathed a sigh of relief when you turned the hatchet over and used it to strike against. Worse thing that could happen are some splinters , better then a cut hand. Every trip I go on when the Owls are sounding off I consider it a worthy trip. I have had them sit above my camp and call , even get into some discussions between them selves. In the Florida Swamps the Barred Owls call of " Who cook's for you , Who cooks for.. you all " is the sound I like to hear. They also make a sound like laughter that will make you listen.

Interesting how the pitch of the sound of your steps in the snow raises in the beginning, the closer you get to the microphone. Pure physics, the absorption coefficient increases with the pitch. Never noticed the effect in any other video. Great, Erik! Also how the fire sounds. Cheers, Martin 🤜🏻🤛🏻

Hi Erik! Wow!! Amazing!! I love the owl sounds when we go camping here in Massachusetts! Just curious. Are those public government lands or are they private lands? Just wondering. A few of the bushtuber folks i follow in your neck
@notquiteultralight17013 жыл бұрын
Of the woods have permission to go out on timber company lands. I only ask because I want to start doing trips on private lands, with permit of course. Covid has brought so many irresponsible people into the backcountry with human feces not catholed properly, dog feces in a bag and thrown up into trees. Anyway. Guess i ranted a bit! Thank you again Erik!
@erik_normark3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! These are private lands, but here in Sweden you are free to hike and camp, at least for one night, almost anywhere. Without damaging anything of course.
@notquiteultralight17013 жыл бұрын
@@erik_normark Wow!! That’s awesome! Sadly, I’m not sure if most Americans are responsible enough to not damage stuff. Of course the people I surround myself with are responsible leave no trace folk but others not so much. I don’t know where that lack of respect for the natural world comes from here in America. Like, for instance, you definitely can’t go camping in a semi popular park or wilderness area and expect to find firewood. People don’t have a little fire for warmth and mood, they burn huge ones for long periods of time while they drink heavily and stay up all night. I should know. I’m a recovering alcoholic who did this very thing. This is why private landowners put up no trespassing signs everywhere because of the liability of having people on their property partying, getting hurt and suing them. It’s crazy around here Erik! Anyway! Hey, I look forward to seeing the firebox stove in the mix again sometime! Take care my friend. 🙂

Thank you for the video. For you, a poem about winter: A poem - Here, and the winter is over. So, the winter is over, The time has come, the warmth of spring, From the snow, the meadow is resting, The trees are noisy, without leaves, Around, the wind is making an alarming noise, It is warm, it will bring peace, The body marvels at its lightness, And, the whole forest will become a home, Spring ray, beating in the clouds, Breaking through them all like a breach, Glides on, through those woods, Creating a beautiful picture, Hope, light and warmth, And is it good that winter is over? 11.04.2021
