Hi guys! This is a repost of the original video, because the first version was flagged with a copyright strike on one of the songs I used in the background. Which is dumb because back when I found these songs they had all been labeled as Copyright Free; but also that was months ago and maybe they changed their minds. Either way, I didn't want that strike looming over my channel, and the original video had just been up for a couple of hours anyway. The song has been changed and I hope no other songs lead to a strike. Thanks for all of your love and support!

22:35 I really do like that you always avoid referring to these two as anything but friends, but man. Won’t lie this clip had very strong “Achilles and his pal” energy.

Firstly, I love how despite referring to them as each other's best friends you frame pretty much all your talking about them in a romantic way which is... pretty accurate for them honestly! Second, it's genuinely so painful how relatable Snufkin is in a way that I can truly appreciate not only because of the empathy and authenticity of his character in being having avoidant attachment, but also the fact that they don't shy away from showcasing how it can hurt his relationship with others, because it happens to us all - I appreciate this more because it makes him feel truly human, and makes him truly relatable. He messes up, but he tries to fix it, and he grows as the seasons progress, and we love him for it! Snufkin's growth I feel inspired me a lot more than I think, and I CAN'T WAIT for season 4 to show where they go from there!

I think the beauty of moomintroll and snufkin is the fact that, they really are just friends. And. . . Thats not a bad thing. I think, nowadays, theres always this looming pressure to be in a relationship. Whether it be dating, marriage, etc. So heavy and imposing, to the point where it feels almost mandatory. Shipping culture, parental pressure, societal expectations. It feels heartbreakingly beautiful to see love not be associated with romance. You dont need to date to love, you dont need to kiss to adore, you dont need to crush to pine, you dont need to marry to care for one another. Love is. Love- it isnt limited to dating, and can be shown in all degrees with all people. I think its beautiful how ambiguous snufkin and moomin's relationship is. All that matters is that they are both happy, and thats all thats needed. At the end of the day, unless you come from abuse or neglect, it is family and friends you will come to realize led you along this winding road of life, perhaps God, if you were raised as such. Marriages dont always work out, neither do friendships, neither do family. Ultimately, i think snufkin and moomin are the perfect representation of a love without bounds, a true kind of freedom. Love not tied down to romantic cliches or friendly sterotypes. A love where both parties simply do their best for the other, regardless of the outcome.

I reallly hate how much i relate to Snufkin. Its been especially bad recently, many important events going on for friends and i cannot answer any of it. Its always been sort of a "joke" with people who know me that you'll reach me sooner with pigeon mail than a text, but i know it still hurts them to some degree, even if they know what im like. Though, seeing such a character grow into a better person, who still gets to be himself in this show is quite inspiring. I used to really look up to Snufkin when i was a little kid too so XD gotta learn from this now then, as he did

Thanks for doing this it feels like it was just like yesterday when season 3 released I believe the next season is releasing this year and it might be the final one from what some people have said but I'm not sure if that's just a rumor or not I love it if we can get several more seasons of movement valley I've been re-watching the 90s version and the 2009 version a few times I discovered this series back in 2022 I'm still upset I didn't find it sooner I can't wait to see what happened with these two especially ❤

JUSSST found your channel through this video and I LOVEE your analyses of each character and their development!! This is so well-thought out and I'm extremely happy to know there are actually amazing character analysis videos for Moominvalley like this♥
@iCar_13722 ай бұрын
Hello, I love your videos! Your Moominvalley analyses are everything😭💕 but there was something you mentioned that bothered me a little, and I’m pretty sure someone else mentioned it before(?) and it was the misinterpretation of the farewell scene in the Lonely Mountain episode. You suggested that when Moomintroll says he may write Snufkin a letter (alluding to something Snufkin does throughout the episode and the series) after saying goodbye, Snufkin disrupts his normal silent waving by stepping forward and saying more loudly, “See you in the spring.” You suggested that Snufkin’s disruption was actually to invite Moomintroll to stay, but we don’t see Moomintroll return, we actually see Snufkin stop to look at the wood carving of the two, which suggests that the Moomintroll we see in the next scene is actually imaginary. This is because Snufkin has been known to do this, like with the mound of snow in the Spring Tune episode. Both the letters and the use of inanimate objects to imagine the other are indirect forms of communication, something that Snufkin prefers over actual communication. (introvert with abandonment issues gang✌️) This confuses many people, which is actually something I love about this series, it so often plays with what’s real and what’s imaginary, which gives you insight into each characters’ psyche. Your argument is that Snufkin learns his “lesson” and sacrifices his boundaries to let love and emotions come through, and, in a way, you are so right! (Pt.1)
@iCar_13722 ай бұрын
(Pt. 2) But really I think the infamous “almost confession” scene displayed this better. Because, as you said, Snufkin has these feelings, he just masks them because it means being vulnerable. BUT he starts to share these when they are in a predicament where they are literally about to freeze to death together. So I would argue that we’ll have that big revealing emotions scene in the next season, where it is hinted that there will be a life-threatening natural disaster. It may also be noted that Snufkin’s selfishness comes from his solitary lifestyle, which stems from abandonment, so maybe if there’s a season 4 episode addressing Snufkin’s origins/family, some of these issues may be brought up as well? But we aren’t quite at that point yet. As things are right now, Snufkin still has more growing to do than Moomintroll, I would argue. This is because of what Moomintroll says about choosing to be alone versus being forced to be alone. In the end, Moomintroll, out of his own volition, leaves his friend alone with content. Likely because they did, in a weird sort of way, reach an understanding during the confession scene. They both realized that they feel the same, and leave each other as equals, as you said. Circling back to the comment, “see you in the spring,” this is Snufkin’s acknowledgment of Moomintroll as a friend he cares for deeply, promising that despite everything, he does in fact want to go back to Moominvalley to see Moomintroll. The interpretation of them staying together to see the northern lights ultimately unwinds all of the progress in respecting boundaries, which is part of their love and growth! Moomintroll now understands that alone time is something Snufkin needs to recharge and meditate on everything that has happened throughout the year, which is so healthy for the self and for one’s relationship with others. (He could just use his time to better prepare to be with his friend and build up some of that longing to see his friend. Idk.) One last thing I’d like to add is what you said about being each other’s sun. (From the last episode of season 3)That, in my eyes, is the resolution to the Lonely Mountain arc, because it’s the lesson that both boys got from it. First of all I think it’s really clever how this episode, where “Moomintroll’s longing turns into expectancy” is the episode with the Hobgoblin, a fun nod to the book Finn Family Moomintroll. Secondly, referring to each other as each other’s sun is also a cute nod to the fact that summer is often described as the time when the two share the most time together. But ANYWAYS, that was totally unrelated to my point. I’m very sorry for this long post, I just wanted to offer another interpretation. I really hope I don’t sound pretentious either, I think you articulate your point so much better anyways 😭 I love how you dissect each episode and character in such a uniquely clever way, and I’m greatly looking forward to any future videos you put out! :)

Season 3 feels off to me regarding Snuffkin's character-like being an introvert is a choice? As if it's fun for him to hurt Moomin? He is pressured by Moomin repeatedly. Moomin is not accepting Snuffkin's boundaries and when he snapps Moomin guilt trips him and gets what he wants. Moomin kinda forces his belief of what's best onto Snuffkin and it irks me. There is also the issue of Snuffkin carefully deciding which responsibilities he is willing and able to shoulder - which is a good thing, and yet it is framed as something bad. A lesson you have to learn. If someone forces you to do something you don't want to you have to? Really? He is not avoiding, he doesn't want to live a life that will make him miserable, and it is Moomin who again pushes him into a situation in which Snuffkin is totally in the right. No is not a bad word. Snuffkin kept his distance because he saw Moomin's possessive way of love and only when Moomin gave him the space and time to allow Snuffkin to show his own affection did things start to change... Moomin has the tendency to take other people's responsibilities while Snuffkin is very picky about which burden he is willing to tackle... The lessons described in the video are lessons both characters need to learn yet I feel the execution in season 3 was rather clumsy
