Back in the day, my dad would swap the bucket close/open hydraulics backwards from factory setting on the log loader, it seemed more intuitive to have things close when the lever is pulled and open when the lever is pushed away.

Joe , easy fix to the hoses on the ground situation. Go to your local hardware store & pick up 1- 10’ piece of 4” drainage pipe, disconnect your hoses & slide them through the pipes & re connect them to your processor. You could probably get away with 1 10’ piece & cut it in half. At least if a piece of log fell on them it wouldn’t shear your hoses. Food for thought. Dave D. from Southern Maine. Have a great day.👍 Love your videos, very entertaining & informational all rolled up in one. You had a great helper on the tractor. 😉

A simple thing you could try would be to use a smaller roller stand that woodworkers use for outfeed or infeed support on power tools. That should help bridge the gap between the infeed of the Japa 405 and the 472 log deck. Also make sure you pay the little guy what he is owed for all the hard work he did for you. LOL. 😁

Not at all surprised! I saw the pile of gravel they pulled back and said to myself, yep, that will be in the way too. Joe just needs to figure the shortest length log he normally gets, divide that length in half and then subtract 2 feet to figure out the maximum distance away from the Japa mill. For example, 12' might be the shortest, so 12/2 - 2 is 4'. Subtract 2' due to diameter/weight/shape variation from one end to the other. Currently, really odd shaped logs have to be chain sawed up, so bad variations should not make it onto the log deck to begin with.

Hi Joe, For the gap between the deck and processor, just put a stand with rollers on top (mostly used for woodworking) and that will eliminate the chance of a log falling down. For you trailer that the back door use to pop open while driving, drill a hole through the center of it and use a spring pin. Should prevent that from happening again. Cheers.

You are just like me... if you have a 50/50 chance, you will get it wrong 90% of the time. If I didn't have bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all. To support the logs over the gap you could just build a table like between the live deck rollers. I'm sure Log Hauler Jesse could weld one up for you right quick... the rollers/ infeed belt will push/drag the logs that far. Even wood might work in the meantime.
