@@TR-sg9jc yeah some animals have poor, good and pristine hides to start with so if you clean kill an animal with pristine hides you will get a perfect hide, but if kill it with dynamite the skin will become poor. So there is the best way to kill an animal, but the best you can get is what the animal had to begin with. You have to scan the animal first to know what's the best hide it can produce.

Another tip: Don't donate jewelry that says it can be used for crafting. Save it for when you go hunting for legendary animals, because legendary claws and teeth need to be combined with specific jewelry to make talismans.

Yes. I end up obsessively checking this as I've gotten in fights and go to use them and I have nothing except my thumb up my ass. For a while there I thought What am I doing wrong before I realized this is poor designing, poor explaining by the game etc.

@@ClickClack_Bam it's not a poor game design, you just clearly don't know how the mechanic works. When you get on your horse the guns disappear, yes but you can simply bring them back out again by holding down L1 and swapping back to your guns from the saddle icons.

@@majesticduke2022 - Yes I understand it and imo it's poor incorrect design. If I get on the horse with guns in the item slots... When I get off the horse sometimes they're there other times they're not. So I have to always check because there's no logic to when they'll be there or not. That's broken programming logic and should be fixed. Things I place somewhere should remain there until I move them... Just like I should be able to eat or drink more than just one item at once. I'll be in a gun fight and have to repeatedly go back into my satchel, sometimes 5 times instead of just picking the things I want to use at once. Just like the menu system is broken. I'll have to back out of several menus instead of just exiting when I'm done. Just like at camp I should be able to run instead of walking very slow. There's a ton of things this game has not addressed properly. I like the game but there's a hundred things they need to fix.

One thing I that bugged me is how long it takes you to get through camp because you can’t run, stay on the outside and you can sprint around the outside to get to your tent / previsions trailer/etc. not really a tip but helps speed up the game if you have to run to the camp for something quick

Another tip, make sure to go and find the item requests the members of camp give you before chapter 5 of the story otherwise you lose out on the ‘errand boy’ achievement. Learned this the hard way.

My favorite secret tip is when you have a yellow or red trail on your mini-map, get on your horse and sprint on the trail and hold the dynamic view/scenic view button and your horse will auto run on the trail to your location without running out of stamina, SUPER HELPFUL and you can go to the bathroom or check your phone, etc. while your horse runs for you

I don't know if all of you have noticed, but when going through the ledger for camp upgrades, at the bottom of the food, ammo, and medicine pages, there is a refill button to stock up on supplies. That's why those squares are red.

A tip I see no one talking about that helps with hunting is roll 2 horses deep. Some of the larger animals take up an entire space on a horse like a passenger. Taming a temporary horse allows you to carry more kills. Maybe this will help someone.

Just use your bow gun and rifle. It will depend in the animal u are hunting. It's more about low calibre or high impact weapons, large ammo. Small animals use small weapons vice versa. The main point is head shots, and heart shots one shot kills . This Will give u good quality. 8,out of 10.

People in the comments about the pelt being 1 star…. The animal itself has a rating out of three stars, if it’s one star you can only get a one star pelt. If it’s two a two and three a three. You can get a 1 star pelt from a 3 star animal though. Using the knife and lasso gives you the cleanest kill and will get you the 3 star pelt if the animal is 3 star. In the video it didn’t show because he didn’t study the elk but it was a one star elk because he got the 1 star pelt.

The lasso is something I feel a lot of players overlook. It doesn't work on bigger animals though, just mainly medium game. I tried it on a bison recently and it did something to where it ruined the pelt, maybe it was a glitch, I'll probably try again or just snipe its head with express ammo.

One more tip on Hunting, Each animal you hunt, if you study them and find their complete name, will have 3 dots by their name, if they have 3 dots, and you kill them with a head shot, you will get a perfect skin from them.

I've been wrangling horses and it seems to pay more then even a perfect bison Pelt all you have to do is Wrangell it write it back to Camp have your regular horse follow you and bond with the horse enough to wear follows your whistle and then take it to the stable Kentucky Walker's seem to bring the most money

When your not in camp but want to return Go to the map and set the waypoint. Then when riding Press the panoramic view along with the x button ( PS4 ) and you will automatically ride to your waypoint. I know it’s not fast travel but it does help from time to time.

Tip that I found is that if you purchase something in the ledger that is more than what the camp has in funds it will pull the remaining balance directly from your wallet. Makes camp upgrades a little less tedious I feel.

Tip for perfect quality pelts. When you aim at the animal there's a 3 star rating on the left of the animals name. If it has 3 full 🌟 it's perfect. But if you hit it multiple times or in a bad location it drops a 🌟 when killed. Doing this with critters is to hard as they run to fast, maybe if you tracked them well. --- unless you're hurting for money I'd suggest disregarding the poor quality pelts from big animals as they don't give you much money and can't be used for mats

The number 1 thing I wish I knew about was the honor system. The ending made me so confused and it felt like the game was mocking me when Micah laughed I knew I did something wrong. Basically had to replay the game in part again to get the real ending.

Men lasso and pull down 700 lbs steers now in reality why not a 500 lbs elk. No they are not trained to go down I worked raising them a few years they want them " unbroken " for the sport. Hell some guys bull dog them by just jumping off the horse grabbing them by the horn and dragging them down.

The lasso one was actually pretty good. If only you could catch birds and fish with them though :( My tip would be always make sure you have a rifle/weapon on your shoulder before beginning missions or when dismounting.

Study the animals before you hunt them. Use your binoculars and right bumper to study new animals. And then when you lock onto animals in the bottom right hand corner it will show what quality the animal is.

Another tip if you use a shotgun you can use dead eye and it makes the bbs a single projectile which increases the accuracy and your overall damage out put
