I remember in an article about how bad CGI a lot of times is not the animators fault, they give Ang Lee's _Hulk_ as an example because apparently their original model had more naturalistic colors and integrated better with the live-action enviroments, but Ang Lee insisted on the model being more and more green, making it look more fake in the process
@BonJoviBeatlesLedZep2 жыл бұрын
Ang Lee seems like an incredible director for real, on-set stuff. Brokeback Mountain and Crouching Tiger. But when he has to lean heavily on CGI and post prod, he seems to make big swings and thus bigger misses. Hulk, Gemini Man.
@jqpublic31042 жыл бұрын
I also remember this. they said that the Hulk was too real. ang lee wasn't the problem, he was trying to give us comic accurate. can think back to Akira, so many of us wanted to see if it could be real, Ang wanted it to be real. I love that movie with the flaws.

2008 Hulk Design forever! I wish we had gotten more of it. Sure, tweak it a bit with each movie, half a percent more body fat, less green in the teeth, but like, that design is solid. Big hands, big feet, nice wide stance, good design all around, I don't need to see the same actor's face for it to be Hulk. The fact that Edward Norton did the motion capture is enough to have the characters of Bruce and Hulk still be the same physical body, but they've always been treated as two separate entities until merged, it's okay if they don't look the same in the face.
@graefx2 жыл бұрын
I'll have to say the Ed Norton Hulk worked at the time. It made sense as an explanation and it mirrored the savage hulk depictions back then, he looks bang on for some of the Marc Silvestri art. But then when compared to other comic and video game depictions, like Marve vs Capcom or the PS2 Incredible Hulk, a more chonky Hulk was appropriate. I liked both Ang Lee and 2008 Hulk, but they were of a past time as much as I'd want to see another rampaging Hulk on screen.

I really hope we do get more Hulk solo or at least more Hulk-centric stuff going forward, particularly if they bring Savage Hulk back in some capacity. A lot of what they've done with the character in the MCU I think has been really interesting, but I also think that because of the limitations with doing a solo Hulk movie or even getting close to something like that, MCU Hulk has gotten put to the side quite a bit in a way that other characters like Thor or Iron Man don't feel like, even if those characters aren't always the stars, specifically because they've been allowed to independently build out those characters' inner lives and backstories in their own movies. Case in point really is the introduction of Smart Hulk, which though I don't like as a change overall, I can understand how it could be done well. The bigger problem is that they've had to have so much of Banner/Hulk's inner conflict off screen. I would love to see a Hulk movie that actually can take the time to depict a full arc for Hulk, rather than the half-hearted one they've attempted up to now.
