She’s lied multiple times, which years ago, resulting in her being kicked out of POST (CT police academy, which trains police officers). She was later retired and sent through New Haven’s police academy (NHPD officers have used both, depending on how many have to be trained, and if there are enough for New Haven to run their own program). She should’ve owned up to this right away but she’s arrogant, and continued to dig herself deeper, even lying and trying to drag other officers, including those who outrank her, into her web of lies. She’s violated numerous general orders and, as a supervisor, condoning her behavior affects those shes supervised, as well as those in the community. Then, when she realized how many lies she got caught on, she tried to play the race card. Race is what gave her the chance to repeat the academy, contributed to her promotions, and to sit in some safe, cushy job conditions. Do better.

Meanwhile a young man in New Haven was paralyzed due to officers negligence. Don’t get me wrong all officers do need to be held accountable, but they fired this officer with no video evidence of said traffic stop and the officer that paralyzed the young man (with video evidence) was placed on paid leave. I’m all for accountability but be consistent, there’s officers in New Haven that have done far worse than Kendall and they don’t get fired they resign.

@Yannii The cops that resign after they screw up on the job do so to avoid a deep investigation from the department. Basically, it means they get away with it without getting fired or locked up. But you are right. They should be held accountable when doing their job. They're police officers. They have to live by a higher standard. They're not only upholding and enforcing the law, they have to also follow those same laws themselves. There's procedures and protocols to follow, just like that traffic stop. If she were trying to make a legitimate traffic stop, she should have identified herself as a police officer, even if she was off duty or not even on shift yet, and then turn in her body camera. She failed to do either. That's on her. The police union can appeal her firing all they want, but she fucked up. That's all on her.

I hope you sued them! I lived in Meriden for 49 years, grew up there. Remember now retired Chief Jeff Cossette and his corrupt son? He enjoyed living by his own rules, beating up hand cuffed people, abusing his position. Then the FBI GOT INVOLVED, he got arrested, went to jail for a year. The City, meaning it's TaxPayers got stuck with hundreds of thousands of legal bills. Nothing happened to Chief Cossette, he retired a few years ago with a BIG PENSION! So in the final analysis, I'm glad they got rid of another cop who thinks she can do what ever she wants to people! Keep up your good work in exposing these corrupt police depts!!

She got her job back!!! A state arbitration panel has ruled that ex-police Sgt. Shayna Kendall should get her job back after finding that the city did not have “just cause” to fire her for allegedly lying about a traffic stop-turned-civilian complaint. The state Department of Labor’s Board of Mediation and Arbitration handed down that decision on Nov. 22. Click here to read the ruling in full. A two-person majority of the three-person panel ruled that Kendall should not have been fired in August 2022 following an Internal Affairs investigation that led the city’s police chief and police commission to determine that she had lost her credibility as a cop. Instead, the panel’s majority found that Kendall should be reinstated in her city police job, that her discipline should be reduced to a one-day suspension, and that she should be “made whole” for lost wages and benefits resulting from her termination.
