Stunning guitars. I still think the tele is my favourite. But the R9 is something for sure.

Well, whatever rig he has been using sounds more compressed and saturated than what Jack used (Dr Z, Mesa Boogie, ect) and the way he dialed his sound in. This guy is equally the great player,..just has a different tone and obviously a different style of playing. Although there are similarities.

It would be nice to know what amp he's playing through and if there's a pedal involved. Those would be key elements of the tone we're hearing...

Murphy labs are very consistent now From guitar the guitar. I own a 2023 heavy aged in golden poppy and played 5 or 6 before choosing it. those others ALL played as good as the one I picked and to be honest it come down to the price and the top. Any of them would have been a good choice.

The 61 burstbuckers suck, wondering if i should replace with vintage PAF clones (monty PAF’s) or something more modern like SD slash 2.0 alnico II pros? (I have this guitar, 2023, 8.5lbs )

Get a set of Dimarzio Super Distortions. I put a set in my Les Paul Standard 60s and they kick ass. They’re high output, but clean up nicely.

@@bucknasty69 thanks, already pulled the trigger and got the SD slash 2.0’s, sound like what i had imaged a les paul should sound like lol. Very nice and warm/open & handle gain easy..i guess same exact tone as originals but just higher output (only difference i think i noticed after my tech swapped my stock 61 BBs for the SD slash 2.0s, it seemed like my volume/tone knobs have less of a sweep…not sure if thats just cuz the pups are different output, different alnico’s etc, or if they were installed poorly..although from what i saw he basically just ran the braided wire thru the cavity and solder the 2 wires to both neck/bridge pot..looked like they werent loose or anything? (1st time swapping pickups). Also the pickups had a stronger reading on multimeter before they were installed & soldered by a few points on the multi meter..lets say it was 9.3 pre installed on bridge, after installed same pup read like 8.9 or 9.0 ohms on multi meter? He said its cuz the pots eat up some power or output? I have no experience in this area so had to take his word lol jw if what he told me sounds correct

@@user-cd2cz3tv3u Glad you like the Slash pickups! I’ve tried the originals but haven’t tried the new ones. I’ve always wanted a Les Paul with Super Distortions ever since I saw a picture of Ace Frehley back in the day haha. I’ve had them in lots of other guitars, but I find they suit a Les Paul nicely. Definitely nails that classic 70/80s hard rock and metal tone. The double crème bobbins look pretty cool too haha

@@bucknasty69 lol kiss was my first rock band as a kid that got me going..i think of aces cherry burst lp with the 3 cream uncovered pickups, never looked into what he was putting in their exactly but def sounds good if snything like what i heard to got me into rock lol. I wanted something a little more like PAF clones at 1st but the 61 burstbuckers grew on me and sorta sounded close enoughhh to some stuff like SD seth lovers or antiquities (looked at wizz/throbaks etc if i was gonna fully commit to the PAF sound), but i felt i had that area sorta covered with the 61 burstbuckers when i had them dialed in. The Alnico II pro originals sounded good clean and obviously handled gain well (i dont know about for metal, furthest ill drop is to e flat..more into classic rock from 60s-early 80s. Figured couldnt be a bad thing if they kept the same tone but were boosted a little in output lol. Jw if you change pickups a lot, do you if what i mentioned in previous comment aboug the pups loosing ohms on the multimeter before before/after installing them (they read a little hotter before installed..said the pots eat up some energy or whatever ?) also do different pickups react different with the knobs..i feel like now that the pups are swapped theyre is less of a sweep on the volume/tone knobs. He told me what he did (installing & soldering the new pups) would effect my pots , not sure if thats true since this is my first swap. Just seemed like i remembered the 61 BBs being more reactive/more of a sweep as far as tones thru adjusting either volume’s/tone knobs. These now seem more like they go from loud to quiet much faster when you slighly roll back the volume.
@bucknasty699 ай бұрын
@@user-cd2cz3tv3u That’s interesting because I’ve never really noticed a difference in sweep on the pots between different pickups. I’ll have to pay attention and see if I notice a difference. Seymour Duncan can’t be beat when it comes to alnico 2 pickups at good prices. I really want to check out the High Voltage set, which is based on a set that Seymour Duncan himself wound for Angus Young. I also want to check out their Saturday Night Specials, which are kind of like PAF/T Tops wound slightly hot with alnico 4. I went with the Super Distortions in my LP as that’s my only guitar at the moment, and I play stuff from 60s rock to death metal, so they cover a lot of ground tonally. I like alnico 2 but it’s a little loose with high gain and downtuning.

I know that Jack is gone, but what has set Peach apart so far was the musicality of the demos while demonstrating the tones of the guitar. I get that the player here wanted to show various styles, but I felt that the continuum in musicality was lacking.

I used to feel the same way until I finally found a good Les Paul. I love my super strats but Les Pauls definitely have their own thing going on. If I could only keep two guitars, I’d keep my Ibanez RG 550 and my Les Paul.
