You just don't need to pass the board exam and get your masters like a dietician would need to. To be a nutrition coach, you only need a certificate. Us nutritionists are way more practical, bold, straight-forward, talk just to the point, available, more affordable, always relatable with the struggles of 10/10 of our clientel, easy going in every single spectrum in this field v/s MOST of the DiEtItIaNs combined. @@KelseaVentures My employer requires all nutritionist to be certified. What that certification entails I do not know. The same can be said of phlebotomist in my state. They may not need to be licensed yet no reputable facility will hire them without some form of certification. I worked as a certified phlebotomist while in nursing school. However my comment was that nutritionist do not need or necessarily have degrees as the commentor stated, yet after speaking with some at my place of employment this is not true FOR MY STATE as it requires nutritionist to have a degree and license. In the state of Florida you have to be licensed in order to call yourself a nutritionist and to provide medical nutritional therapy, which the nutrionist at my hospital provide. There are other states that require the same. Maybe you should look them up. I guess I could have worded it better for those joining the conversation SEVERAL months later.

Actually, certified nutritional specialist through the American Nutrition association for healthcare professionals requires individuals have a nursing degree (bachelors), physician assistant degree ( masters), registered dietician (bachelors or masters) doctorates MD, or doctorates in nutrition, public health or other qualified healthcare degree. After passing the board exam which is 5 hours long one can become a CNS. Certification renewal is every 5 years which requires 75 hours of continuing education.

I’m a bachelor qualified nutritionist about to compete my masters. I also mentor certified nutritionists, and while we both call ourselves nutritionist, our scope of practice is very different. The issue is lack of regulation in the industry. I always tell people to always ask for credentials before working with a nut as many reach out of their scope simply because of their title.

CNS’s and RD’s sit for the exact same exam in my state and it’s actually illegal for people to market themselves as a nutritionist and give nutritional advice. That's funny cause in my country is actually the opposite, the dietitian mainly do diets and only to people who are healthy (don't have pathological diseases) they're not allowed to treat unhealthy people (people with pathological diseases) to become a dietitian you need a course that take 2 years in accomplish. Then the Nutritionist is the one allowed to treat both healthy and unhealthy people, and have many more option that only doing diet, it has many different areas that you can focus on. They are the ones that need to go to college to get the degree, and it takes 3 to 4 years to graduate. It could be more it you decide to do Medicine first and then specialize in Nutrition. (Sorry, If there's something grammatically wrong. English isn't my first language)

Like I explain, maybe not in a good way, is that Dietitian do diets and need a course and the Nutritionist is the one with the degree but both of then are certificate health professionals by the Spain Law.

@@smacked2006 Dietitians are pretty much as qualified as it gets when it comes to nutrition expertise, so implying that the reason they don't recommend the diet is due to it "working", which btw, heavily depends on the person, is kind of ridiculous. Obviously it best works for people trying to maintain a low-carb lifestyle, which is fine, but that doesn't mean it will work for everyone. People who shill keto as the "one-size-fits-all" diet for anyone trying to lose weight only feel that way because of anecdote - personal or mutual. Keto will 100% work for anyone who's been stuffing their face with sugary things and white bread for the past 10 years because of course it's healthier than that, but anything leaning towards "healthy" is better than the Standard American Diet. There isn't much inherently wrong with being in a state of ketosis, but it's the extremism and the way most go about it is what makes it generally less-than-ideal.

@@smacked2006 keto diets have been proven to work in the short term, not the long term. what has been proven in the long term is too much fat, can give you high cholesterol, heart disease and if that fat is visceral fat, it can contribute to diabetes. dieticians don’t recommend it a lot because they know the factors that mean it doesn’t work long term. they don’t go for quick fixes, unlike all these people on social media who claim to know more than science🙄

And best I can offer is spaced repetition, use block hours for studying, only have one testable idea on your flash cards, use online flashcards- previous students have done the work before so you won't have to suffer the same And look up the structures of your main tests, look up pretest questions, and take mock tests timed in the environment you're gonna have to take em Aside from that take study advice from medical students (know to NOT buy into anything they sell) and students in fields like your own and similar ones But really college is just fixing parts of your life so you can function as your own living adult- take breaks...partying the right amount is correlated to succeeding better in college and of course network 😊 I wish you luck!!! Make sure to check up on your local, state, and online scholarships!!! Edit: and if all else fails chat gpt questions galore and peer reviewing to make sure its all right

Ya’ll kill me. A registered Dietitian is a health professional. It requires a masters degree after you finish a BS full of science courses (just like pre-med). You can practice independently, diagnose, bill insurance etc. “Nutritionists” can be anyone off the street who decides that’s what they’ll call themselves. There are NOT states where you need a degree or certificate or training. I don’t know where you guys are getting that from.. You CAN get a degree in nutrition. But that does not make you a nutritionist unless you choose to call yourself that. It makes you more qualified to offer nutrition advice than I would be, certainly, but I could still call myself a nutritionist and compete for your clients. A BS degree in nutrition is still useful, it’s maybe your first step to get your masters RD, your first step into science and research, or maybe pre-med or something.

Yea u can have chicken shawarma but not most of the time cause it's better to give variety to ur diet which provide another nutrients too and give different taste to ur tongue.so by thinking about ur tongue and health i prefer for variety of food to be eaten than sticking to one particular food which would give u only that particular nutrient and deficit of other important nutrients

It depends on your goals. What you will learn in the food service management and dietitics isnt the same as in nutrition and dietitics. Take a look at the program of both and compare.

@@gbh1135 shit pay, boring asf 9-5 job, it’s 90% MNT and not actual nutrition. I started a business with it instead so that I don’t waste my license. Nutrition is way more fun than clinical dietetics. Wic sucks too. Food service isn’t bad tho, depending on the job. It also can provide higher pay. Nutrition and dietetics, especially in a clinical setting is just not for me
