Seal Rescue Net Malfunctions During Rescue

A long stalk pays off for Denzil, Wally, Kat and Antoine - they successfully capture an entangled seal in the net. They even spot a second one, and Denzil shows us once again why he is also known as "The Flash" when he grabs the seal at the very last moment before it can disappear into the ocean. Both animals were entangled in plastic packaging strap, which they probably picked up in different places. The rescue net malfunctions during the second rescue, the pole and the rescue net are coming apart. The team has to be very careful to ensure that the seal does not break away inside the net. 🦭

The good thing is though that Denzil was able to help Tony bring the big fella onto the beach And fly up the beach to grab the pup! Good on you Denzil. Poor Tony was hoping he didn't lose the big fella when the net started to come apart. That poor bull had a nasty cut but thankfully he is now able to hunt while recovering. The pup was a quick save and no wound yet. The big seal must have been miserable with that strap around the neck, and only causing a loss of appetite. The big seal now can heal very soon and get back to eating lots of fish and bulking up again. Great save 👍👍

Try using a plastic 180cmx80cm shield covered in a mirror film, it should allow you to walk right up to them as if tilted slightly forward, it will reflect the sand.

Awesome! Love to observe how the patient takes a deep breath when the compression of the strap is released. I was sad to see that it cut into the flesh and caused injury to the pupper. Glad the OCN Team is out there tending to these entanglements on a daily basis so they can rescue them before it is too late. Thank you for filming and editing these rescues so that people are enlightened about the trash in the oceans and how it affects living creatures.

My heart broke when I saw the blood on the big guy! Good catch OCN! He was already having a bad day, then he gets caught in a net, then the pain of the strap being pulled to cut it. But in the end, he is free and back in the water with his friends.
