Jim makes a great point when it comes to Jericho. Every time he came back to wrestle in the WWE, he would leave for 6 months, then come back and the fans would go apeshit. In AEW, Jericho has been there from start to finish. I’ll give them the fact that the COVID lockdown threw everything for a loop. But there’s a reason why every time Jericho came back in WWE that the crowd would pop off whether he was a heel or face. If he were to just take a few months break, I bet everyone’s palate would be cleansed and we wouldn’t be as tired.

It's a shame that AEW has used Buddy so poorly that Jim can't see the value in him. Buddy has only had ONE singles match on AEW Dynamite (against PAC) and Jim actually said "There might be something there". He said he's athletic, he's in great shape, but he has a horrible name and is in a horrible group. Four months later, Jim doesn't see a place on the roster for him. AEW should've brought Buddy in under a better name and he should've been the guy brought in to stop Malakai...also, Malakai should've been booked like a killer and not like an idiot who wants to psyche out his opponents. Their first match should've went to a draw, then build to their next match on PPV, which would've been where Brody King debuted in order to keep Buddy from securing the victory there, then Buddy would've had to beat Brody before getting another shot at Malakai.

One thing I don't like about modern wrestling is how often they put over old guys. In combat sports, of which wrestling is an exaggerated, superhero simulation, typically the old are eaten by the young. An older fighter who can compete even at a middling level is a rarity (which, I might add, makes it special). Seeing Christian Cage, Billy Gunn, and Sting beat guys thirty years their junior, however great they were or weren't in their prime, just kills any sense of reality or grit. Every once in a while, a storyline where an older wrestler makes one last run and has to use guile and experience to make up for fading physical abilities could be VERY compelling, but as this implies, you have to have it be rare AND you have to acknowledge in the ring and with your announcers that they aren't what they used to be, but they are cagey, crafty, etc. Hearing the announcers claim so-and-so 'is better than ever!' when so-and-so is 50+ years old is just as bad as having them win. I think of when Rock/Hogan went at it, locked up and Hogan sent Rock flying, to the latter's shock. Though this may not have been the idea, I loved it because it kind of implied that Rock REASONABLY assumed Hogan wouldn't be so damn strong, given his age. Since it's the loss of reaction time/reflexes and fast twitch abilities fading that usually signal a combat sports athletes downturn, it was reasonable that Hogan would still be strong. These little realistic details *make* wrestling, at least for me. I think Christian should be a manager, a meaner, more hateful modern-day Heenan/Heyman hybrid. I love Darby Allin but I get why Jim doesn't like him, though I don't think calling him an idiot is necessary. Say Kip's too small to be a wrestler, sure, but "not a grown man"? That's silly. So much of what Jim says has logic in it, but then he undermines his credibility by insulting people for "being a white guy ith Whoopie Goldberg's hairdo." Who cares, Jim?

AEW roster has no singles star It's all factions and trios and tag teams. I can't think of one wrestler that is running in truly singles fued or program. Punk was their last big draw. They have Daniel Bryan but they have ruined him beyond repair to capitalize on his star power. MJF could be their next singles star but he's aligned with the "Firm" for some stupid reason. This company is not in the business of growing or making money but just for 2 things. 1 - Tony Con gets to play with his real life action figures and make friends. 2 - Tony Con to keep investing in booking decisions to keep his newly made friends happy.

AEW's roster is bloated as hell and even with that we only see the same 10-20 people every week. Unless it's Moxley, The Elite and their friends, Brit Baker, or Jericho and his jobbers almost no one else matters. It's amazing how much top-tier AEW does have that means nothing unless they are losing the previous names. They also have a ton of talent that should never be in the ring or on TV or Ex-WWE stars, Tony hoarded just so they couldn't go anywhere. The Acclaimed is one of the few exceptions as they are home grown talent that got naturally over.

I will say I agree with Jim's take on Pac on the top rope. You could watch a Lord of the Rings movie in the amount of time it takes him to keep his balance and get set. Yet, Randy Savage was up the ropes in less than 2 seconds and even Rick Steiner - he'd stand on the middle turnbuckle and put his right foot on the top and half leap up there. They were twice his size and got up top faster.
