2:28 This is one of many examples of how *genius* Luz is, she learned a new glyph combo from the knowledge of a history book!

Right?!?! She's incredibly clever and creative, a sweet yet powerful force to be reckoned with! 🔥

So glad you're back ! Protect baby King at all cost, also i love how they are steadily building up the sibling dynamic between Luz and King (and the unspoken Mama Eda is more and more obvious)
@darquidarqui7 ай бұрын
Yay! Yesss, I love how this episode strenghtened their bond significantly more, maybe the first true dramatic moment of just listening to the other in that scene of King breaking down. Unexpectedly powerful! And yes, icon Mama Eda ftw, she a real badass
@jakeroo1237 ай бұрын
I love this episode. One thing that I think is interesting is how this episode reveals that King is a young child. Before this, we didn't know how old King was - though we DID have Eda referring to him and Luz collectively as "kids" a few times, in hindsight indicating that she always knew that. And with the reveal of King's age came... Oh, yeah, that's why he acts like that. That's how little kids act. It's such an interesting bit of writing, because it plays with your expectations. A character that looks like King might carry the expectation of being cute and funny - why he acts like that wouldn't really be something to question, but then the show ANSWERS the question and you look back to earlier episodes and realize there was always more to King than meets the eye.
@darquidarqui7 ай бұрын
The more I think about it the more I love it! And yes, and it was such a great reveal because it's directly connected to the misguided way Eda raised him as she continued to push that lie, it's so character driven, I love it. The voice acting was off the charts, Alex really sold that heartbreak perfectly 💯

I am so glad to see you back mainly because you can always tell that mental health of person is better when they return to do their favorite things! And also great content like always, Diegothis episode is just so important, i waited for King backstory so much

Yesss exactly, I'm in a better headspace as of right now and I'm very happy to return to Owl House reactions over here, I really missed it Thank you! This ep is beautiful, really reminds me of The Intruder in terms of atmosphere and the resonance of the emotional moments 🙌
@ryliedillman73917 ай бұрын
Alex Hirsch's voice acting in this was absolutely AMAZING, and I loved how well-written and heartwrenching King's identity crisis was. King is such a good character, and I love that, despite also providing plenty of comedic relief, he still gets to be his own character instead of just being there for the jokes. I always adored King, but this was the episode that solidified my love for him and took his character to a whole other level!
@darquidarqui7 ай бұрын
Totally agree! King became a true character here, he's no longer just comic relief that has fun mystery behind but over here, with all those he emotions he let out in front of Luz mostly, this completely took me off guard in the best way possible. What a brilliant King episode in every level, lore and drama mostly! ❤️

Hello, Darqui! Found you through Hazbin reactions but very quickly fell in love with your whole channel. Started watching the TOH playlist yesterday and just when I thought your analysis couldn't get any better... long story short, I rarely see someone with so much empathy and understanding towards characters, so refreshing. Thank you for such high-quality content, I'll be sure to stick around!
@OculusObscurum6 ай бұрын
Finally caught up with the playlist! This is truly King’s peak episode. Alex Hirsch doesn’t get enough credit as a voice actor, 12:57 is so heartbreaking. 14:27 I think King *did* make them, as King’s caretaker, I think Jean-Luc was just rebuilding the stacks it, or the others, knocked over. A small way of showing where its priorities lie before the big reveal.
@annak25977 ай бұрын
Yay, we're back! I'll admit, I wasn't a huge fan of King when I first watched the show going through season 1. The "child character with a massive ego" was a little much for me. But that completely changed with this episode. I think it's interesting that Eda mentions that she thought at first he was "just a stray dog or something", because her struggling to classify what King is to her - pet, roommate, son - does explain why she might not have done the best job raising him, even though she clearly cares about him a lot.
@darquidarqui7 ай бұрын
Yay! ❤️ this ep is truly a gamechanger for him indeed! King felt much more like a character here, it's the first time I really took him seriously on an emotional level. And that's so true about Eda, she does label him as roommate the first time we meet him actually, so it makes even more sense the way King was raised and taught, even more considering how much Eda verbally denied her motherly behavior. What a great character ep!
@justinriley7 ай бұрын
Turns out King has such a childish personality and is clingy with Luz because he's literally an 8 year old child with abandonment issues.
@darquidarqui7 ай бұрын
Protect them at all cost though
@fuzya86367 ай бұрын
Technically a bit older than 8, since he looks a bit bigger when Eds finds him than when we see him crawl out of his egg. I'd guess like 10 to 12

Glad to see these back! Your reactions are always a pleasure when viewing, Darqui! :)) As for this episode, there's not a single season 2 episode that isn't an ultimate banger, but yeah, this episode brings me a sense of comfort for some reason lol. Maybe it's baby King, but also just KING in this episode. It was a big episode for our little boyyy. And I will never get over Alex Hirsch's top-tier line delivery with that King and Luz scene this episode. I loveee this show too much!!

Truly missed posting these, thank you so much for the patience and support 😄 Oh really, that's so interesting haha buz the spooky atmosphere and Jean-Luc definitely give the creeps but yesss King truly shines here! As baby King or just his normal self, it was all so brilliant and precious. Alex KILLED it in this ep, I didn't know he had this in him, so talented. This show is a true gem! Can't wait to continue posting asap, stay tuned ❤️

Another great reaction as always. Really can’t wait to see how you react to the later episodes, but this does bring me to a question I’ve had for a while and now seems like a good time to ask. How do you avoid spoilers? I mean I know technically you’ve already watched the show, but since I’m not a patron member, really need to fix that, I don’t know exactly how far ahead you are, and some stuff how hard to avoid, like King now having both his horns, Eda and Lilith eyes changing colors after sharing the curse. Even if you don’t watch the chips youtube will still recommend videos with very revealing titles, or even fan art, or merchandise showing the physical changes a character goes through. I personally don’t mind spoilers too much, but I am practically the only one, so I’m curious how you go about avoiding them.
@darquidarqui7 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! really appreciate it 😄 thanks for asking! I generally try not to engage with the show or followers of the show at all while I'm reacting, that way that doesn't mess up with my algorithm in social media or KZbin. At the same time, if I have any friends who have seen what I'm watching, they let me know about what is safe to search at a given time and all that stuff. It all really depends on how I engage with the algorithm! As long as I don't oversearch on Google, all good!
