i think getting to 20 pullups is WAY harder then getting to 50 squats. maybe this is personal but getting to 20 pullups is a feat of strength. I have trained pullups a few years ago (lost them of course as i stopped training), and i trained a while and still was not on 20 pullups. 50 squats, with a bit of sweat and no training, could be done from the first try. good vids!

Because everybody uses legs to walk around the whole day and weeks and they are also the largest and strongest muscles in the body, so it is normal to achieve the 50 squats faster, actually, a lot faster than 20 pull-ups. With pull-ups, one needs consistent training for at least 6,8 months to reach a minimum good foundation on which to build up to 20 reps that might require 1-3 years, depending on each background while a kid.

Yes, but for pull-up if you try to do them close chest to bar your numbers will be much lower. And doing them high is important for full ROM.

Kaiser Permanente did a study that showed that men who could do 40 pushups were heart attack proof- if they could do them all in 60 seconds. I tried it; I could only do 30. But I kept on trying, every other day. Pretty soon I got up to 40 in a minute, then sixty. I kept on working at it, taking longer than sixty seconds. Eventually I got up to 150 pushups in 5 or 6 minutes.

Very solid foundation but I want to add isometrics(static holds) exercises for more strength and conditioning since bodyweight training includes handstand, planche, front/back lever, human flag and dragon flag.

Any alternative to the leg raises? Even on the ground if you lack hip mobility and lower body strength leg raises are difficult. Obviously hanging leg raises are impossible or people, including me, will cheat, arching the back or swinging. Any suggestions? Thanks

Well, I used to follow the ideas of Convicted Condition. But, it never worked for me. When I saw on of your videos, it made change the idea and come back to simple things and volume. Now, with pullups I am going till failure. It means that I do 6 sets and i start with 6 or 7. When I get to last set I normally can do only one or two.

Old school calisthenics I'm new calisthenics did weight lifting , martial arts over my life but very interested in calisthenics as I don't have room for weights in my home. Question is how many times a week should I be doing this routine I'm guessing 3 time a week with a day in between to rest recuperate? I've been training for over 3 years and can still only do about 10 pull ups in a row :/ Have been disrupted along the way with big losses of weight from anorexia relapses. But still, frustratingly slow progress, feels like I won't be able to progress past the basics. I train consistently and hard

Some people like you will need too much time. I can relate and it's frustrating but you have no other way around it but to keep going. You know what's useless? Training 3 years only to stop for ever. Such investment for nothing. So please never let go and find passion. Train for passion and because you love it and need it, not because you want to get to 20 pull-ups or to do muscles ups. Congrats on the grind, fuck the end and the results ;)

@@OldSchoolCalisthenics I can only do 5 pullups, but can do 30 pushups can't do any hspa because my shoulders are messed up, last year I was doing tons of pushups, then I heard about deep pushups between chair's eith feet on another chair, actually using 3 chair's, so the deep stretch pushups messed up my shoulders, they hurt for the last 9 months unfortunately...

Just performed them as a circuit repeating them twice with a 2 min break between circuits as I could managed to achieve almost all the exercicses with the reps required excepting the final push ups where I just could managed to do only 20. By the time I did the 2nd and 3rd circuit the dips also decreased (20 reps and then 15). From one time to another you'll suggest to perform this test?

The exact thing happened to me. Hundred push ups, but 2 ridiculous pull-ups... I noticed I was forgetting to master them bc the lack of strength... Six months ago I started with Australian pull ups, body rows, scapula shrugs, or just hanging in the bar... Now I can do 8 weighed pull ups, and of course, it was a pain in the ass (and still 😂), but it worthed, so go for it.

Do you have resting days?Because if you are constantly feeling tired, your body is giving signals that it neds rest. You are very strong but you may be stronger if you rest more.
