I would like to try it once. For now I bought some seedlings and deflasked them,. In each flask were 4 to 5 babies. and not all of them survived but one or two of each kind. Congrats for your success.

Oh wow! After watching all 4 "episodes" of this amazing orchids opera, I realized why orchid plants are a bit pricy. Take off my hat to your dedication and patience. Nature is definitely teaches us enjoying the process and not just checking if there is any result when it's waaaay to early for one. Way to go! I wish I watched it earlier before I ordered my seeds on wish. Now I think I probably shouldn't heh I'm still waiting for them to arrive (also a thing with wish based on other people's experience but I'm optimistic). Will be there a chance for them to germinate at all? If there is even just a little teeny tiny chance, would you please help me with any suggestion hiw give any of those dozens of seeds a new life? Thank you in advance ♡
@Orchidomania4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching 😊 Unfortunately, the chances of germination are from slim to none since even if you manage to sterilize the media in the kitchen and even if you manage to add the seeds to the containers in a sterile way (highly unlikely), the seeds themselves are not sterile. I guess the one chance might be to spread them around in a tropical jungle (I am assuming epiphitic orchids) and hope they land on a spot with the right fungus or send them to lab that actually does this for a living where they might be able to "wash" the seeds with some kind of mild disinfectant before they add them to sterile media under sterile conditions. Some people have also made 'glove boxes' at home with hepa filters (tend to be expensive) and rinsed the seeds with hydrogen peroxide or chlorine solutions to disinfect them but again more money invested for slim to none chances, because at the wrong concentrations you could kill the seeds before you add them to the media. Sorry for the news 😔 but that is the reality which indeed does show how fine the balance of nature actually is.

@@Orchidomania Appreciate the prompt and truthful reply ♡ Lesson learned :) You are totally right. With all the money I'll put into trying to sterilize, germinate and whatnot, it'll easier to buy an adult plant from someone who knows-how. I won't get to whatch'em growing which is a little bit unfortunate but there are so many species out there that do allow enjoying the full cycle process with affordable investments that I think I'll just move forward. Thank you for saving my time and faith ♡ All the best!

If you don’t have laminar flow hood.. where do you suggest sowing the seeds?
@Orchidomania4 жыл бұрын
You can't really do it at home. If you live in a tropical area try scattering them in the jungle. There are some ways of building a glove box or something similar at home but it's a lot of time and money for something that has very high chances of failure unfortunately.
