Yoga was the best medicine when I was going through menopause. I was developing frozen shoulder and hip problems/pain and within three months I was more flexible and no pain. It even helped the scar tissue in my lower abdomen(was having cramps from scar tissue). These are the problems they don’t tell you about(joint changes).

YAY!!! This is the first time I've ever seen "yoga" poses explained this way. Usually yoga content is just demonstrating how to do the move properly. I really like the more detailed explanation of what parts of the body are affected. Way to go taking the yoga concept and making it your own. I LOVE IT!

When I had to go to physical therapy for back pain I realized the exercises they gave me were similar to yoga. I had been ill and not kept up my yoga, hence back pains. Yoga is the best thing to keep us flexible and pain free in old age. The cat part of the cat/cow is not good if you have been diagnosed in osteopena or with osteoporosis. If so check into what twists and stretches you should not do ... but do yoga! Yoga has helped me very much as I age.

I do these 2-3 times a week. I love the downward dog. In the downward dog position, I walk my hands into my feet and slowly come up. I’ve been doing pilates for 10 years, so these stretches are relatively easy for me. Even at 72. These stretches really, really do alleviate back discomfort and keep you mobile.

Great tutorial! As a retired nurse turned certified yoga teacher, I love to blend my Western medical background with my ever growing Eastern knowledge! My love of both has inspired me to pursue a certification through the International Association of Yoga Therapists This is an intense 2 "plus "year program and is above and beyond my initial yoga teaching certifications . The training reminds me of my nursing education years ago in that the first year is comprised of lectures and textbooks, while the second year is a series of practicums/clinicals (working one on one with clients, under the supervision of a mentor). I am a little over half way through my studies now. A Yoga Therapist would be a valuable addition to a multitude of Western health and wellness practices, including P.T. Yoga treats the mind, body, and spirit! Namaste ;)

I started yoga when I retired 2 years ago. I take either a senior focused class or restorative/stretching class. I love it and feel it helps with flexibility , mobility and stress relief

Just a tip for those with knee issues. Lululemon sells stackable yoga cushions which can be used for your knees or hands. I find them very helpful.

This is so great!!! I've gone to yoga classes, off and on, for 15 years. They're great for posture, balance, and strength - all important for us seniors. But none of my teachers could help me with the frequent HEADACHES I was having and that were making me miserable. One day, I decided to google headache ("neck headache," actually, because they seemed to start in my neck) and, lo and behold! BOB AND BRAD explained exactly what was wrong (cervicogenic headache) and how to fix it!!! PHYSICAL THERAPY IS GREAT CROSS-TRAINING FOR YOGA, and vice-versa! When you're sick or injured, physical therapy is so helpful. And, when you're doing pretty good, yoga (and breathing/meditation practice) is wonderful... and HI BOB!!!🙂❤

The alternatives poses are also great for people can readily get up and down from the floor but do not wish to do so at work. The remedial poses will keep you fresh throughout the workday.

Wow! This is really helping me- to my surprise!!! I started doing these 3 stretches a few weeks ago. At first, I could not do much, but little by little, my body started to be able to do more! I'm very surprised, so thankful. Thank you Bob & Brad, please keep these yoga for seniors coming!!!!!

Yoga has helped my cervical and lumbar spine issues more than anything else. I have no problem getting up and down on the floor, but I have wrist and hand pain, so I have to really limit the weight on my wrists. It's frustrating, but a good, gentle Yoga class will teach you modifications. I feel like my arms are getting weaker because of the arthritic hand/wrist issue.

I enjoyed your video, you two are very relatable which means you’re getting a lot more people stretching. In pilates we drop our head at the end of the cat and let the weight of it give a further stretch. It feels great.

Child’s Pose does not work if you have knee problems!!! 😩 Anything on hands and knees is seriously problematic for me with knee problems. 😩

I start my day with yoga everyday for the last 3 years, best thing I've ever done for myself. Wanted to increase my flexibility, strengthen balance and become overall stronger, I'm in my mid fifties and want to ensure I can be the healthiest as I get older. Also start QiGong which is also great for me.

When doing downward facing dog, be sure that your weight is spread through the joints of your hands where your fingers meet your hands. Don't dig your weight in through the heels of your hands or you might begin to experience carpal tunnel problems.

I’ve been doing yoga off & on, but have started doing it more often. I have glaucoma, and I do not do the downward dog, or any pose where my head is lower than my heart, due to the possibility of increase in eye pressure. Thank you for showing a version where my head does not need to go so low.

I'm a 66 yo woman who plays pickleball....sometimes too often. 😊 My shoulders (blades), teres, and lats tend to tighten up, which affects my neck also. These stretches are perfect and bring relief. Thank you!

I hurt myself as a teenager, following along with Lilias, Yoga and You. Destabilized my hips for a while. I think inhaling on extension makes more sense for me, exhaling as I compress my organs in flexion. Otherwise, I'm finding great value in the exercises I'm learning from you. Thanks!

Thanks so much! I teach yoga to an older crowd, 60-80. I remind my students to soften their elbows in table, cat/cow & child’s pose. We also add flossing the nerve in the spinal column after a few cat/cow we pause in cow, keep the arch in the back & then drop chin, keep the chin tucked we arch into cat & do a few reps that way ending from cat with the back arched & toes tucked to sit back on the heels in puppy pose. I am wondering what you think about my spine warm up? I always appreciate your advice & got a great chuckle out of Bob’s “cut” at the end.
