Testimony continued Tuesday in the murder trial of a Riverman man accused of killing his girlfriend and young daughter, and also trying to kill his 8-year-old son in 2018.
Following an explosive first day of the trial, jurors were shown weapons prosecutors said Ronnie Oneal, 32, used to commit the murders, including a shotgun that was shattered into pieces.
Oneal is accused of stabbing his 8-year-old son, Ronnie IV, several times and lighting the little boy and their house on fire.
As the little boy was rushed to a nearby hospital, paramedics testified he was able to saw a few words.
"I believe he said, 'My dad killed my mom' or 'My dad shot my mom,'" the paramedic recalled.

It's law. If they don't give him that chance, then the possibility of mistrial comes into play, and he could WALK. I think of it this way... the kid has been out and away from him for a couple of years, he's HAD to have loads of therapy in order to set him right, but that kid hasn't forgotten ANYTHING. He's had time for the fear to turn to anger, and that anger is justified. He's not going to be in the same room as his dad, so he can say whatever he wants, really. If he realizes he's got one shot at bringing justice for himself, his mom, and his sister, it's all over for dad. It's amazing how brave kids in his situation can be. I don't think dad realizes that. I think he intends on scaring that boy into siding with him, but I don't think that's gonna happen.

I don't think anyone should be, whilst it'll be personally gratifying to see the testimony put the perp behind bars, at the end of the day a little boy has to testify against his father. No matter what comprehension of right and wrong us as adults have, he still has to give the evidence that will put his biological dad behind bars, and that I'm sure will be psychologically traumatic for him. I can only hope that what very care he is put into now, will be able to provide the necessary emotional comfort he needs whilst he tries to work through this traumatic event.

The law needs to be changed no way should the person who committed this horrific crime be allowed to cross examine this child. It making him a victim to this evil twice. We need to change our laws on this. If he wants to represent himself that is fine but no way no how should he be allowed to cross examine his son. Its not the first time this has happened. This is a child who had one day of hell and will remember this the rest of his life. Its abuse of him a second time. Praying for the young man, God gives him strength and courage through the Holy Ghost. I hope the murder get the chair so he will never have to fear this man again.

When I was around 11-12 years old, My father had to respond to an attempted murder/suicide from the apartment 2 doors down. The Husband shot his wife in the face, and then killed himself. They had 3 kids, one 4 year old, one 8 year old, and one 12 year old. I had played with all three of them and we we're friends. The oldest kid came banging at our door at around 9:40pm, after our bedtime, with the other 2 in tow. They knew my father was a police officer. When my father answered the door, they all screamed "My daddy killed mommy!" My dad immediately told my sister and I to go into our rooms. He immediately grabbed his radio and pistol out of the closet and called it in. The Husband shot his wife with an entry and exit wound through the cheek, in front of his kids. He then killed himself. The wife survived, and after one or two months she came to ask if she could look at the apartment we were moving out of, because she couldn't stand living at her apartment after all the trauma, and thanked my father for protecting her kids. I remember looking at her cheeks, and it looked like ground hamburger, even after the surgeries. When my dad brings this story up (seldom as it is), he always says how much regret he has for telling the kids to go around the side alley by our apartment and to wait, because he didn't want to expose my sister and I to the trauma, instead of taking them inside. After ems and officers arrived, he was back around that alley talking to them. He has never said what they talked about.
