Here is a look at one of our Hawker 800XP aircraft going through a deep routine maintenance inspection. Many of the inspection panels as well and engine parts have been removed for inspection. I hope you enjoy!

Being a retired corporate pilot as well as A and P mech, I’m missing those days. What better way to show the confidence in the job I just performed than to take it out and fly it. No second guessing, did I put that screw back in, did I safety wire those nuts?

Shaun -- Just for "kicks", I looked into your Alerion web site and got into the news article about some of your clients' weird flight requests. It's tough to run a "high-end" client business at times. You certainly came through for them. None-the-less, we can see that your business will continue booming in these commercial airline restricted times.

Shaun, With all your new responsibilities I'm very grateful your still able to have tech days. You are quite knowledgeable about the mechanics /electronics of air craft, is this a requirement of Corporate pilots because of plane size/company size etc or because you have your own you tube channel and enjoy keeping us informed.? I'm sure you carry a repair kit with you at all times including chewing gum and duct tape:} Cheers, Rik Spector

Thrust reversers opening in flight are bad, unless you want to recreate the glide slope of the Space Shuttle. I read an article years ago about the jet they used to train the Space Shuttle astronauts. I believe it was a Gulfstream and they had to use the thrust reversers in flight to simulate that brick like glide ratio.

That happened in S America, I think Argentina many moons ago. One bucket opened on take off and the plane crashed , was a huge accident with many ground casualties.. They are not possible to open unless the landing gear switches are on, meaning weight on the landing gear.. but this plane had a bad switch so it allowed it somehow.. crazy accident.. look into it..

@jjsmallpiece9234
@jjsmallpiece9234 3 жыл бұрын
You aren't seeing the inside of the engine. You are seeing the external gearbox and assessory components. The inside is usually only exposed once an engine is removed from the aircraft and in the overhaul workshop, to see the compressor, combustion chamber, nozzle guide vanes and turbines.
@williegillie5712
@williegillie5712 3 жыл бұрын
JJ Smallpiece I have seen the inside of RR Trent 972 and the CFM 56 used in the bigger airlines as well as the smaller Pt6 turbine used in the Kodiak, Caravan, TBM and other aircraft. AgentJayZ has a channel he tears apart old spays and repurposes/ rebuilds for generators kinda neat They are quite the engineering marvel.

Does Alerion still use flightdocs for maintenance planning, scheduling, and tracking? I'd love to see a video about that. I live over on the west coast of FL not far from the flightdocs HQ. I have thought about getting a job there. They seem like a really good company.

So unlike piston engines, these actually use (or burn) quite a bit of oil yes? like you need to add quite often?

The Rolls Royce engines found on Gulfstream aircraft (before the G650) do use a good amount of oil, but the TFE engines on Hawkers use very little.

Are you sure the thrust reversers are operated by hydraulics? Every aircraft I ever worked on, the TRs are operated by an air bleed from the engines. Using hydraulic oil would be high risk - an oil leak around the engine exhaust is likely to be a fire risk. Now that would be really bad in flight,
@adamdarnell7996

Hydraulics on mechanical thrust reversers. Most commercial airliners use bypass air instead.

Hey Shawn. I am in no way questioning or judging your appearance with this question... I hold for different type ratings from three different aircraft manufacturers, in each of them I learned in the operations manual that facial hair other than a mustache would interfere with oxygen masks ability to seal. Do you guys use an oxygen mask different from those found in most airliners, or did They revised the testing, so that it now permits Chin facial hair?
@CorporatePilotLife
@CorporatePilotLife 3 жыл бұрын
That one is still up for debate. The latest study by Air Canada showed that it doesn't interfere with the seal of modern oxygen masks, but I do know that studies in the past have shown they will not seal over facial hair.
