Phil Larry here from calif, I must say I love the way you leave what nature made and letting all of us see God's work I'm not preacher far from it but when our son died I lost it and without God in my life I would be nothing and God turned me to wood turning and working with wood! I know you lost your wife that's hard to I know me and my wife been married 47 years we grew up 4 houses down from each other I've known her for 66 years I'm 70 soon to be 71 I'Ve been fighting prostate cancer for 23 years and in march I found out I had colon cancer had surgery within a week doing ok I guess the cancer is the easy part losing a son is the hardest part! but God gave me two beautiful grandkids from my daughter now they are my life!1 I don't know why I'm rambling on and I'm sorry you inspire me and I'm sure other God Bless you my friend!! ........Larry

Thank you, Phil, for showing us all the beauty in a pruning off-cut! Well, not pruning, exactly. My bro-in-law had to make room for his new shop, so several yard trees had to be removed and he gave me what I wanted. Now, thanks to your video, I have a much better idea how to turn the other piece like it. Excellent turning and a gorgeous bowl!

Well the figure in that bowl alone was worth the effort! You also ended up with a beautiful shape to boot!! Nice one 😊. I have an old pear tree that has to come down next spring. It never grew very big, but I’m hoping I can get a few turnings from it. Very nice that you’re donating that bowl. We have a fundraiser coming up that I’ve been asked to donate something for a silent auction. Cheers, Rick

I am 85% completed with a Apple box with sliding slide to hold long match sticks. It is a gift for my new 74 yr old neighbor who is almost finished building his house and getting ready to move in next month. He is Sicilian and made a very large pizza oven in the corner of a large indoor room with a nice view of his back yard. Three of us neighbor's have been helping him build over the past year. I had done some trimming last summer on his neglected apple tree, hence some thick, 14" straight logs, which I slabbed and air dried. This summer I thought my thickness planner was getting dull but it was just the extra hard wood. I was going to make myself a box, but really don't want to ever work with apple wood again. It is beautiful, so I think I just need to forget about the labor before attempting another apple baby. LOL

Once again, a wonderful result. So many of your videos (but, I’ll admit, not all - everyone’s tastes differ after all) I’ve turned to my wife and said “I could give that house room” - I don’t need to say it any more, she just takes it as read. That piece makes me wish I lived down the road from you so I could bid on it, but I’m several thousand miles down the road in England, so I’ll have to be content with watching the transformation and seeing the resulting beauty that Nature and you have wrought together.

Smashing piece Phil, lovely wood. I've a large piece of Apple with so many lumps and twisty lovely bits I just don't know where to start with it. I pop it my bench from time to time and look and dream and revel in it. And then put it away again still none the wiser on where to cut. First world problems for a woodturner I know . I also wanted to say Thank you Phil, I've learnt lots from watching you,. For example if I'm not using tailstock support I'll still often bring it and a live centre to the piece to create a registration mark to enable accurate centering if any problems arrive later. This has saved me on multiple occasions and you get the credit every time. Keep up the good work Phil :)

So beautiful, you capture the true beauty of the wood, glad you don't use resin. Wonderful ability to see something worthy in what others regard as firewood.

Oh Phil! I SOO love how you try very hard to leave as much of Mother Natures handiwork on all the pieces you create! Its so wonderful that all of your woodturning leaves such individual looking pieces instead of the 'cookie cutter' pieces lots of other turners put out. Your pieces are more artistic and beautiful! I love watching you work!❤

Another beauty Phil. I have turned a couple of pieces of Apple and they didn't disappoint either. I'm sure this will raise a huge amount of money for the Choir. Great video as ever Phil and a great way to start my Sunday morning and of course a cup of tea. Take care my friend. Cheers, Huw
