The only reason they're called "velociraptors" in Jurassic Park is because of a discovery of a big raptor in Montana, they called it velociraptor antirhopus. It was a deinonychus.
@Hapokas1124 жыл бұрын
Interesting.
@Veritech20114 жыл бұрын
In the Jurassic Park novel the portrayal of the Raptors were based on the research of John Ostrom's Deinonychus. In the novel Allen Grant acknowledges this however, Dr. Wu explains that the amber used to create the Raptors was discovered in Mongolia so they assumed it was a Velociraptor Mongoliensis. Steven Spielberg in preproduction did use the accurate name of Deinonychus but later changed it Velocirator for dramatic sounding reasons.
@danielm.5954 жыл бұрын
And another is that they said that they mixed their DNA with one derived from a frog species, essentially giving them a "free pass" for their inaccuracies.

Not exactly. Crichton based the raptors on Deinonychus because of a hypotheis by Gregory S. Paul, who wanted to merge Velociraptor and Deinonychus into a single genus.

Dromaeosaurs are one of the coolest dinosaur groups, they're in Jurassic Park, and when they're big they're really scary too. I am not upset they show up in so many dinosaur movies

I did not expect “why did the goblin turn on the stove?” in this video, but I appreciate it for laughs. Thank you Possum.

I’m more scared of the MEME-pact font opening credits than I was with the entire feature.

I looked it up and here is what it says because i was wondering that too: "Here be dragons" (hic sunt dracones in Latin) means dangerous or unexplored territories, in imitation of a medieval practice of putting illustrations of dragons, sea monsters and other mythological creatures on uncharted areas of maps where potential dangers were thought to exist.

"Here there be dragons" is actually a fancy way ancient cartographers would identify areas they didn't actually explore. It literally means: I don't know.

No, it FIGURATIVELY means that.

3:01 "Here there be dragons," is another way of saying you're in uncharted territory/waters unknown/a strange land/off the map. From old sailor's maps, where it would be written in unexplored areas.

What I don't understand is... they have a small but manageable budget, but they don't try to make an ACTUALLY good movie! Are they that determined to make money, that they would throw a lot of things together without caring?

Technically Velociraptors weren't apex predators because there were larger carnivores such as the Tarbosaurus and such.
