Read the description first 👇 We have been practicing, studying and teaching breathwork for many years and this form in particular is one that is very powerful and will enable you to break through into a different layer of consciousness where you can release stress, let go of anxiety and fear and move towards more happiness, peace and love. We studied breathwork at the root in the himalayan mountains in India.
The increase of oxygen will result in higher ph levels in your body which will make the immune system, cardiovascular system and others function better. It also releases your 'happy' hormones and will often leave you feel euphoric.
This breathwork if done regularly is proven to boost your immune system. The caves of the monks centuries ago were not that warm, so they developed these tools to create internal heat. What else would you want besides a strong healthy body and a happy mind and open heart? This is essentially a combination of bhastrika pranayama, tummo breathing and kumbhaka. This breathwork practice is very old and has been practiced by yogis, monks, shamans and healers alike for hundreds if not thousands of years. The techniques have gained popularity in the past several years because of yoga teachers in the west as well as the wim hof method. There are no new techniques being taught from neither of these groups but instead they're all shining light on ancient techniques from yoga and buddhism with kind and loving intention.
If breathing in and out through the mouth does not work for you currently, you can also breathe through the nose. The breath count can vary and be adjusted to your preference. A general orientation is 25-35 breaths, which works well for most people. You can of course do more or less than that. In fact in the healing practice of holotropic breathwork based on Stanislav Grof, this breath pattern is being done for up to 10-20 minutes without a break. We do not recommend that you do this without professional guidance, but instead contact a trained holotropic breathwork guide.
In the functional anatomy systems (FRC and Kinstretch) this breathing exercise is known as a variation of the maximal expansive breathing technique and is training the diaphragm to function better which will result in better breathing patterns.
Get comfortable and let's do this together. We recommend doing this exercise sitting or laying down when you're in a safe place. Don't do this one in the shower, in a pool or bathtub or while operating any kind of vehicle. All the sensations that are coming up are usually part of it. Stay with the breath and follow the instructions as good as you can, but modify if you feel there is a better working way for you. We recommend consulting a doctor first before doing this kind of breathing exercise.
Don't do this breathwork if you're pregnant or have epilepsy! See a medical professional if you fall under this category.

@Sabrina CaPaul....I'm glad you responded so I could find this comment. I WAS MISTAKEN. From my understanding with Wim Hoff breathing, you are breathing into your belly ( expanding it), then into your chest, then into your head. With the method Joe teaches, on the "in breath " you are squeezing at each energy center. Holding the squeeze at that energy center, as the "in breath " travels up. Breathing into the belly with Joe's method, means bringing the belly button to the spine and holding or locking it down. With Joe, the energy centers correspond to the chakras. Hope this helps.

We just noticed this too. We'd never put ads in the middle of the video and are very sorry about this. This must have been some glitch while working on our channel and we'll be in touch with KZbin support again to make sure this does not happen again. We double checked all our 200 videos to make sure there issue is resolved and there are no ads in the middle of the video anymore 🙏 Thank you for your patience with this and bringing it to our awareness, that is super helpful 🖤

I had to take small breath during 90 and 120 seconds holds, but it's my first time and due to sedentary lifestyle I don't have great luns capacity either. I know I will adjust to it with time though. Is it okay to take breaths at the beginning? Also, after I finished, I started laughing from relief and then I started crying everything out. Like I just let go of something HUGE. Thank you so much. Blessed be

I really like this video. I've come here from Wim Hof KZbin suggestions as it seems many have. Breathwork has been going on for eons, as long as humans have. Sacred medicine. Wim Hof is using the breathwork with the cold exposure but Wim Hof didn't come up with these techniques. All a shared journey to wellness and a deeper inner sanctuary but I appreciate you guys acknowledging that the breathwork is not in itself "Wim Hof." Doesn't really matter where you find it but you've found it so keep breathing. Thank you for the video and you have a new subscriber. ☺️

The change in my physiological state before and after the class was remarkable ("statistically" and qualitatively significant). Here's my progress/daily log: day 1 - 11.30pm: That felt amazing; even though I will soon go to bed, my mind is very clear and awake (in a good way). day 2 - 11.30pm: I did this with my brother at the same time over FaceTime, and he was able to hold his breath more than ever, especially since he got coronavirus in March.
