Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy's love was a slow burn full of tension and boy oh boy do we have the stolen glances and awkward silences to prove it!
What is Pride & Prejudice (2005) about?
Pride & Prejudice is a 2005 romantic drama film directed by Joe Wright, in his feature directorial debut, and based on Jane Austen's 1813 novel of the same name. The film features five sisters from an English family of landed gentry as they deal with issues of marriage, morality and misconceptions. Keira Knightley stars in the lead role of Elizabeth Bennet, while Matthew Macfadyen plays her romantic interest Mr. Darcy.

In the moment the mental kiss happened, Lizzy became Elizabeth, you could see it in her face. She knew Darcy was telling her the truth. After reading the letter, Elizabeth realized she broke her own heart. The actor's gave a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ performance.

He does a good job in adapting the character to modern taste. But I think that a more accomplished actor could have pulled off a Darcy closer to the Darcy in the novel. Undergone a transformation in character. Started out unpleasant and ended up likeable. Not that he in any way spoils the movie.

I'm a guy, and this movie was so iconic for me, it was only one of a handful of romance movies I'd actively sit down and willingly watch. The emotion, the composition, the dialogue. It made the idea of love and romance feel real and grounded, graspable even. It's easily one of my favorite from the romance genre.

This is a film about youth and there is a lot of life in it. It's great that the director made young people and their beautiful emotions the main character. This is a beautifully woven fabric of life; everything has a place in it. Someone may have remembered how they themselves made mistakes and judged people superficially when they were young.

I’m sure MM was at top of list …but he came in for test in full Darcy make-up and dress and Kiera said she was so overtaken she just almost couldn’t talk. Her all time favorite book, being made into movie and…..voila!!! …. In walks the perfect Mr. Darcy and the chemistry is off the charts and here we are all these years later so grateful for this gem.

I was thinking the same thing! 🤣 it’s too smart for my brain to wrap around. From the first moment I met you, your arrogance and conceit, your selfish disdain for the feelings of others made me realized that you were the last man in the world I could ever be prevailed upon to marry so short but I’m telling ya, I needed to rewind it like three times to comprehend but also because it’s like my favorite scene. Ye still may speak this way if ye choose. Just as now, so it is back then, that all -- if not most -- men and women did not speak like the way Mr. Dickens writes. While we do have less information on the vernacular of the common people of that time, there is still evidence left. Since back then, the only medium that would preserve the way one spoke was paper, only the written word would be preserved and innovation in language would be moderated by the literary standard. Nowadays, our personal recording devices of sound and of light have democratized the speech and mannerisms of noble and common folk alike. While it is true that books may not be as popular as they used to be. But those with an intellectual inclination tend to be drawn to books to challenge themselves and to be able to express their souls. It is worthy to note that during Dickens' time, universal schooling did not exsist and that a great deal of people were illiterate or semi-literate. It is dubious that such people knew how to speak well. In regards to the children of "patricians" speaking like the "plebs" because such way of speaking has become popular rather than the way the "ruling elite" speak, that is indeed lamentable.

I think all guys should stare at women without smiling to show their attraction. It works!!! It's so much more effective, than sporting some goofy smile. Smouldering!

Moving from Horror to Romance was not a bad idea. Although, this movie set the bar for romance quite high.

The dancing scene: she has misapprehensions about him. His reply: "I hope to afford you more clarity in the future." He proposes, she rejects him, they argue, but they're still attracted and almost kiss. She gets caught at his house. She's embarrassed to no end, not only because she turned him down, but she is now thinking about she misread him in all kinds of ways. She thinks all is lost to her. They don't have a future. If she'd been like her mother, she would have married him anyway because of his status. She would have been boasting forever about knowing him and that she planned to marry him. Because she never did, he knew he could trust her. That was what made her family so unacceptable. Her mom and sisters, no decorum, getting drunk at the ball, talking like they have no discretion. The final scene, "Mrs. Darcy," was wonderful!

Film emozionante, tratto da un romanzo altrettanto piacevole ed anche capolavoro se si tien conto che l’autrice l’ha scritto in età giovanissima.

Why do you think so? In the novel it was specifically mentioned that Elizabeth and her sister Jane were considered local beauties. It’s just her mother who thought she wasn’t as good as Jane.

@@alinapalamarchuk4813 Even if I agree with you, most productions were careful to cast the actress playing Jane as prettier than the actress playing Elizabeth. You can certainly argue that Rosamund Pike was transcendently beautiful in this movie and, at least as most men would see it, the prettier of the two. By that standard, Keira was not "too beautiful" -- not as long as they cast Rosamund at any rate. Plenty beautiful to be sure, but Rosamund in this movie. . .
