Back to your old haunts. A soggy yard is no fun. I detected a bit of glee pulling out the corrugated pipe. Something you might watch on you tube, a channel, Dirt Perfect. This guy has installed thousands of feet of corrugated pipe for a farmer. He built a plow to install the pipe up to 4' below grade . One thing I thought about on the floor leveling job a few weeks ago. The exterior wall still has some load on it and the joists are weakened by the rot. I would consider adding some treated blocking from the top of the concrete to the bottom of the sub floor, to help support it.

Out here in Phoenix if you don't bury the PVC you need to paint it. Because the UV rays beat the hell out of it and within a year or two the pipe has turned a brown blackish color and is very brittle and doesn't take much to break it

The first 3 minutes helps make a map of the corrugated pipe, which appears to circle the entire house. Which probably wouldn't be as big of a deal if it had fall. Concerning the point that you have to see, where your problem water is going, I have a story to tell: A very good friend of mine bought a house and soon had some massive basement flooding. And that's in Germany mind you, where drainage is way more proficient. He dug up the soil next to that seeping wall (under his patio) and found the standard corrugated pipe used for french drain bedded in a ton of gravel..... (You can argue about that already, but the flooding comes from very high groundwater, so it's not like it was inviting surfacewater to go deeper). He wanted to know where that pipe drained and dug it out completely... Well, going alongside the problematic wall, it went straight to the center of the backyard (yard and pipe both level) and ended in a coil of pipe... underground, not even burried in gravel... It literally made no sense... As to the solution they dug a 2,5m seep shaft and ran the pipe in there. Excess water is pumped out of there. Not an ideal solution, but the best possible, especially as the main sewer lines are like a foot underground. So 34:32 those rules apply! Follow them, and don't be stupid. Thank you Shawn for your videos and have a nice day everyone :)
@GCFD2 жыл бұрын
Awesome story Sophie! I see the same thing here where installers end piped underground with no sense at all. I see it so often that I've started to make sure to say that the problem water needs to be seen flowing away. This is in addition to what I've always done with showing that problem water flowing away.

Is it appropriate to just run it 50' up to where I can tie it in with 4" PVC that will be catching gutters and using gravity for the remaining 100', or is it frowned upon and better to just run the discharge pipe full length and parallel to the 4"?

Re: 9:00 Would larger gutters be a decent stopgap solution for this problem (in conjunction with downspouts from higher level gutters to lower level ones)?
