Another thing I wanted to add about familly showing up at your door. I have friends(Their actually a group who introduced me to prepping!) have all advised me that my homestead is their bugout location. So that is something else that I try to keep in mind. I have no issues squatting more bodies into our small home(Lord knows people did it back in the day) And these are people who would work to earn their keep, Able bodies to till! But this makes me think of others in what I need to do to prep.

This is wonderful! This just proves that where there is a will there is a way! U don't need a lot of money to prep. bit by bit. One day at a time. Too many people use the fact that they don't have money to prep, but these are the same people that spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars a yr on fancy phones, gadgets, eating out & partying constantly instead of keeping that to a minimum. It's all about PRIORITIES!! Thank you Deb for all that you do! You are inspiring! Keep the vids coming!

Great idea to put little things in small tubs and buckets. I usually buy huge packages of things. It would be good to also grab extra things here and there and throw them in the tub. Thanks!

Fear of failure causes some people to not even try. Look at how many folks do not even know how to cook from scratch. Love love love well organized storage. Been canning since the 70's and now dehydrate a lot more.

Another reason to put the cans back in boxes is you can store the boxes on the floor (preferably on a pallet) and still use your shelf space. Those boxes are space savers. I'd turn a relative away, I don't need that kind of trouble :)

I store as I dehydrate in canning jars. Then when things come together and I have enough built up, I go check out the #10 canner and repack them and seal them. Reuse the jars.

Nice job. I have been prepping for about 6 months also..(not as organized) LOL. But one thing I did with family was let them know I will do the food preps, and they can take care of things like paper products, first aid, shampoo etc. Like you said Deb, not gonna turn family away. And it gets them involved and saves on the pocket book!

Great job, my only thought would be instead of using expensive canning jars to site dehydrated food use repurposed spaghetti sauce jars and put a vacuum seal on them very way and a great way to reuse those jars.

I do the same thing with bottles. I fill up cat litter jugs for washing etc. I also use old juice jugs, pot bottles etc. A lot of people like to get rid of bottles so they are also super easy to get for free.

I also hear from some people that they really believe the government will take care of them.others JUST DO NOT BELIEVE anything will happen. It is so incredible that I don't believe it myself. They really think we are nuts to prepare. As for me I cannot imagine not preparing. It is a must do. I just don't discuss it with them. I won't anymore I just keep on prepping what I can. Blessings

It is so bad here as far as members being prepared... and when I first moved here I was asked to talk about foodstorage.. and what I got was WHat do I do with all that food.. I don't have the money, but they buy big screen tv;s and expensive phones..I worry about them.. One thing they do know. is we are prepared.. so now I am worried that they will be pounding on my door! I have sleepless nights worrying about that! They just don't seem to care about being prepared??????

I need to find a good place around here for bulk popcorn untill I can grow my own heirloom :). Im going to start making homemade soaps(Shaving lather soap, shampoo bar soap, body soap, hand soap etc). For toilet paper ive been thinking of trying something I read. You can have rewashable cloths for peeing(Guys dont need anything at all and it makes me jealous lol) and you can use toilet paper just when you need to poop. It would help dramatically in toilet paper use! I make my own toothpaste also

Tammy is doing a great job and I love the video Deb ....one thing a lot of people don't know ...toothpaste needs to be rotated (I wouldn't care if it was expired) BUT a lot of people are "funny" about stuff like that .. it does expire and loses its effectiveness... in a shtf situation no one will care but its worth mentioning for those OCD preppers! lol

Excellent video for stocking up. My major concern is, she is not developing skills. While she is proficient at canning, can she grow the things she cans? If it really hits the fan, will one year be enough without the skills to to replenish your supplies?

The older I get the less care I have if I shave the legs or not. Ted said as his eye sight is going he don't care either. Ahhhhhhh the luxury of age. Its one thing to give me a smile about getting older. hahahaha

I cracked up when I heard you say you will have hair like a gorilla or something like that, well, ME TOO! I think that maybe it's the Getting older that does that to ya. I'm not paying a fortune for a years supply of razors, when I can get a heck of a lot of hamburger with that money!!! LOL Besides, it may keep me warmer in the winter!!! AHHH!!! Seriously, I won't waist my time or money on anything I can do without, now when we are talking coffee, that's another story. Gotta have the coffee.
