I may be asking for a lot but it would be great if you could recommend products for every step in a 'normal' routine that are high protein and products that are high moisture. It seems like whenever I check the ingredients, they're either all moisturising or have a few proteins scattered throughout

@TesriaT2 жыл бұрын
I've watched several videos on protein/moisture and just never quite understood. I finally feel like I get it! The pictures of your hair alongside the middle balance in the video itself really helped too, the descriptions a lot of other people give just don't mean much to me, and even a random example picture of someone's hair just looks like their hair unless it's the *same hair* in a different state, at least to me. I need the comparison to understand what is meant by the soft stretched curls and the dry frizzier ones. Thank you!

Sooo I think I have a protein overload as it breaks easily and very frizzy on the top layers. It can also feel straw like at times. The under layers of my hair are shiny and bouncy but I just can’t get the top layers the same! I have low porosity fine hair, so I’ve been trying to get moisture into my hair but a few hours after I’ve diffused and SOTC my definition goes! Help please, do you still think this is a protein overload?
@hanzcurls3 жыл бұрын
It may not be protein overload, it could just be that the top section of your hair is just very dry. Try clarifying your hair, deep conditioning that section only and really squishing the water into your hair when conditioning - have a watch of my frizzy video and winter hair care video for more tips on adding moisture. My hair is the opposite way, so the underneath needs more moisture than the top

So my hair has been acting up since November !!🙈😔😛😂 That was the last time I got beautiful coils from root to ends..All of a sudden no matter what I did it was VERY limp and lifeless.. I said it was the winter cold,I said it was the high humidity but I just got so depressed. I also haven't been able to grow my hair past my shoulders for 6 years !!But this past year I have managed to get it pas my shoulders💖😍💖 This also may be the cause!? I tried this mask !! It did indeed act like a pick me up,but not to my hairs full potential.. How often can I do this safely !? I would love any feedback anyone has??💕💜✨🌺 My hair ranges in all in the 3's department and I wash my hair every other week...Thanks💋💋💋💋💋

Hey! Sounds like your hair probably needs protein. I would recommend having a look at my Instagram as there’s some helpful posts and captions on that subject, including protein treatments
@kellicrockettart25693 жыл бұрын
I'm soooo happy I found your channel! I have the exact same hair story as you. My hair gets really curly when it is wet and first dries, but as time goes on, it goes limp. And my curls don't have any bounce back anymore! If you pull them, they stay stretched out. My hair has been lightened sooooo much in the last year before I started taking care of it and I think this is probably where it went wrong. I find that moisturizing products make my hair less and less curly and I never really knew why. I can't wait to try a gelatin treatment! Thank you for such detailed info!

I am currently dealing with overmoisture and I finally found a treatment packed of protein here in my country (has 2 on the first five ingredients and also scattered throughout the formulation). But I tested my hair first with rice water and I got ringlets right away. I did that 3 times and the frizz was reduced. I have been a curlie for over 10 years and never had this issue (I'm also postpartum, that can add to the changes in my hair too). Can't wait to try the treatment this weekend 👌🏽

Can part of your hair need moisturizer and another part be over moisturized?!? Around my face is super dry and frizzy but th back and underneath are soft and don't hold curl well 🤔

Yes deffo! My top layers always get overmoisturised but the underneath doesn’t because it’s courser and curlier x

Thanks! Now i know the difference, you’re photo’s helped me a lot. I really dit not understand this proteïne story , but know i think i do. They make it to difficult with the stretching you’re hair test. My hair has the same look as you’re hair. So i am really happy with you’re tips. Thanks a lot.

Wow you managed to make it so clear 😭👏. I have pretty coarse hair, if I don't feel like I need protein, can I just never use it?
@hanzcurls3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, that means a lot! Yeah you’ll probs need it a lot less than me, but just keep an eye on it! And if you do use protein maybe opt for the smaller ones mentioned!
@phoebepeek2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this, so informative! I had no idea protein is what I need. I used it and off before because I was afraid of that protein overload, and sometimes it just feels dry so I add and add moisture. It’s definitely all about that balance!! Not going to shy away from those proteins anymore. My hair looks a lot like your over moisturised pic, so taking all ur tips! Thanks girl 💇♀️

I've seen lots of videos addressing this topic and honestly, with your video I think I finally understood protein/moisture balance! The only "question" that I have is, what products do you use that have proteins in them? What products do you recommend? Obviously I know products work different depending on many personal factors, but it'll be nice to have a starting point. Anyways, awesome video!!!

I have fine 3a curls and I leave regular conditioner to sit in my hair overnight but my hair breaks really easily, frizzy and doesn't last past the first day, would this be protein or moisture overload?
@hanzcurls3 жыл бұрын
I would say try not to leave conditioner on your hair overnight as this can lead to moisture overload. If your hair is fine it’s likely you’ll need more protein, so try and pull back on the moisture (condition for less time, use less moisturising products) and use more protein x

This is so interesting and you explained it so clear! I’m so happy to finally understand. Now I’m wondering if one should adjust the protein/moisture balance with the seasons. Like the way you adjust your skin care with heavier moisturizer during winter. 🤔🤔🤔 It kind of makes sense to me but it’s not a concept I’ve seen discussed so far. Will keep researching! 🤗

Question!? So my bottom layer and top layer are different! The bottom is softer, lacks elasticity, and doesn’t hold well, but seems properly moisturized. The top layer is much curlier but is drier and higher porosity but hold much better. If I use a protein treatment just on the bottom, will that help it become more like the top?

My hair is just soo frizzy. I've been doing the curly girl method since June last year, off and on. Mostly on😆🤪. And I can't figure out why🤦🏻♀️. My hair is balanced as far as protein and moisture go. No matter what products I use it's just crazy🤦🏻♀️. I also noticed that my curls are more wavy now. They used to be 2a 3a and some 3b curls. No idea what's wrong with it. My hair is soo tangly🤪😝😭.
@curlycurlbirdygirl3 жыл бұрын
What about clarifying as on resetting your hair? Clarifying is highly recommended to do whenever an overload occurs. And then you follow up with an opposite treatment - if over moisturised, use protein treatment; if protein overload, use moisturising treatment. I find that I achieve most balance when using moisturising shampoo, conditioner and leave in and styling products with protein or having both. And then the last step a styler (gel or mousse) without glycerin.
